POSTOPERATIVE PERIOD
OBJECTIVES : 1. 2. 3. 4. Vitals assessment Pain relief Look out for expected complications Psychological care anxiety, etc.
POSTOPERATIVE PERIOD
Assessments and Interventions : 1. Vital signs 2. Continuous Pulse ox 3. Color and temperature of skin 4. Level of consciousness 5. Intravenous fluids 6. Surgical site management dressing etc. 7. Position and safety 8. Fluid intake, output 9. NPO until bowel sounds return
POSTOPERATIVE PERIOD
Common Post-operative Complications : Pain Hypovolemic Shock/ Fluid Overload Airway Obstruction Pulmonary embolus Atelectasis Pneumonia Thrombophlebitis-DVT Surgical site infection (SSI)
