Respected dignitaries on the dais and my dear friends, Let me first wish all a Happy Republic Day.

Our nation celebrates its 63rd Repub lic Day on the 26th January 2012. This day is so special for us, which remembers us the days when our great leader s fought themselves against the British to achieve peace and harmony for the cou ntry. During the last few years, we have faced major events concerned with financial a nd security both at the global and the national level which include terrorism, v iolence, rise in food price and the global economic crisis. The citizens of India stood together to fight against this anti human act. The s pirit of unity flows through the blood of the one billion individuals of the cou ntry. Its really this unity which have helped us in tough times to resolve and fulfill our national ambitions and goals. The road ahead is a long one, where we have mile to go. Freedom comes with respo nsibility and that is you can change, if we love and respect one another there w on t be any problem. JAI HIND !

The 63rd anniversary of India's becoming a republic is being celebrated on Jan 2 6 this year. This day in 1950, Indian Parliament adopted the Indian Constitution , elevating India to the status of a sovereign republic. This is not just a cele bration like any other celebration. This is the celebration of the vision and sa crifices made by our founding fathers, depriving themselves the luxuries of norm

al life so that future generations can have a good life for themselves. This is the proudest of days for an Indian, a solemn occasion, to pay tributes to those great nationalists to whom we owe our freedom. Having said that, let us take a short journey thru post-independent Indian polit ical culture, particularly that of recent times, to know how unworthy we have be come to the proud legacy of our great leaders, who had spearheaded the freedom m ovement. Our political leadership has become so indifferent and insensitive to t he needs of the Indian people that bribery and corruption are thriving in the so ciety. Edifices of democracy have become breeding centers of corruption, favorit ism and nepotism. Courts that are meant for dispensing justice to citizens in an impartial and unbiased manner have now become havens for criminals and rapists. An unholy nexus between politicians, bureaucrats, business men and industrialis ts is eating into the vitals of our nation. The recent saga of mega scams that h it the headlines of the national media is reason enough for any patriotic Indian to feel concerned about the future of our nation. Destiny of this great nation is in the hands of a bunch of voracious, self-serving politicians and bureaucrat s, who would sell out Mother India for a few crore rupees, or a fat deposit in S wiss banks. It is said that Indian tax evaders have stashed away about $460 bill ion in the Swiss banks. This money is enough to trigger economic growth in India that can wipe out poverty and unemployment from our soil. But a government with rock-hard determination and initiative is needed to take bold steps to realize this goal. When we look back, it is bewildering to find that the selflessness, s ervice-mindedness and probity in public life that our founding fathers considere d a virtue is no longer so in our society. One of the major problems confronting India today is the terrorism from across t he border. This trend is decades old, and is focused on the Kashmir issue. Now t his terrorism has taken a new form. Inducements in the form of cash and other ar ticles of luxury are offered to our susceptible youths to fight against the Indi an nation. Enemy is now engaged in a proxy war . With the help of false religiou s propaganda and money, they are able to win over a section of our youths, prodd ing them to undertake activities that are detrimental to our country's progress. The Mumbai terrorist attack of 2008 is ample proof of the enemy's determination to strike at our nation's vital economic centres. Even senior political leaders are trying to confuse the issue by coming out with inappropriate statements tha t would only help sharp polarization in an already polarized society. Our nation al politicking has come to such a pass that for a few votes, these political lea ders would go to any ridiculous length. Though India was able to attain substant ial progress in the areas of science and technology, economic development, educa tion, and industrial growth, terrorism negates those achievements, and takes the nation back by a few years. When we celebrate this republic day with patriotic songs and solemn oaths, it is important to remember that as citizens of this gre at Bharat, every one of us is duty-bound to uphold the true legacy of our nation al heroes like Mahatmaji, Bhagat Singh, Chandrasekhar Azad, Subhash Chandra Bose , Jawarharlal Nehru, and Sardar Patel. After independence, the political leadership of that time had many choices to fo llow as to what should be the national character of India. They embraced the soc ial, democratic, secular path. It is a tribute to the sagacity of the political leadership at that time. This choice enables citizens uphold their religious bel iefs and live accordingly. It is unfortunate that this freedom is being abused b y some sections of our people by playing into the hands of our enemy. Freedom co mes with responsibility. There is a famous quote by Thomas Campbell, which says: "The patriot's blood is the seed of Freedom's tree." Many patriots' blood serve d as the seed for the freedom tree of India. Today there is no shortage of peopl e ready to shed blood for their faith, but how many are there to sacrifice their lives for the cause of Mother India? Country is celebrating its 63rd Republic day on 26 of January, it been more than 6 decades since the country declared as Sovereign republic in 1950 January 26.

Dr B.R. The date 26 January was chosen to commemorate the declaration of indepen dence of 1930. It declares the Union of India to be a sovereign, socialist, secu lar, democratic republic, assuring its citizens of justice, equality, and libert y and, endeavours to promote among them all, fraternity. When you look back at the last 63 years of the country, we progressed from the B ritish colony to nuclear power of today, to the biggest economy in the world; we are on the path to be the super power of tomorrow. We know all this is possible for us because of our countrymen who fought for the freedom, the martyrs who shed their blood for their men. What we are today is b ecause of the values our predecessors thought us in our lives and their genuine But even after in the 66 years of independence India is still facing the same pr oblems that existed in during the portions. India is still facing the challenge of terrorism, price rise, inflation, and insurgency. Terrorism is the major thre at the country facing today, India witnessed worst terrorist attack in her soil during 2008 Mumbai attacks. Kasmir is still a burning wound for the country, we as a country failed to get the faith of Kashiri's , the heaven on earth is in th e hands of separatists who are fighting against the country. Why county is still under all these threats were the countries like US China, UK are free from the threat of Terrorism and an insurgency. The four pillars of de mocracy Judiciary, legislature, executive and fourth estate are state of degrada tion in the country. Even the most prestigious institution of the country Judiciary is under the shad es of doubt. Hon chief justice of Supreme Court is accused of favouritism. Execu tive has been always the worst in the country; country saw the biggest scams aft er independents, in the year 2010. The common wealth and 2G scam, which made Ind ia, lose billions of crores when Around 70 %people of the country are still in p overty, 80 percentage kids of rural India and 90 percentage of kids of daily wag e parents in the urban India are still malnourished rural. But the culprits are still not punished The fourth estate was considered to be free from corruption, but the year 2010 p roved as belief wrong. The major journalists of the county were included in 2G s cam they acted as middle men to the corporate. But the ray of hope is the young generation of the country, let India's 63rd rep ublic day be a occasion for a new beginning. Hope the country progresses in the right path as the great freedom fighters wished.
