Age: Age limit for general candidates will be 18 to 27 years for Sl. No. 1, Sl. No. 2 & Sl. No. 5, 18-30 years for Sl. No. 3 and 18 to 35 years for Sl. No. 4. The crucial date for determining the age limit shall be the closing date for receipt of application. Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PH etc. will be as per Central Govt./ICAR rules. The upper age is also relaxable upto 45 years in the case of serving regular employees of ICAR. Syllabus and Pattern of Examination: The syllabus for written examination will be as per Annexure VI for the post of Stenographer Gr. III, Annexure VII for the post of Lower Division Clerk and Annexure VIII for the post of Assistant. 1. Minimum Qualification

All applicants must fulfill the essential educational requirements of the post etc. and other conditions as stipulated in the advertisement. They are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they posses at least essential qualifications laid down for the relevant post. No enquiry for advice regarding eligibility will be entertained. Note-I. The prescribed essential qualifications are minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for written test. Note-II. Where the number of applications received in response to an advertisement is large and it will not be convenient or possible for the Department to call for written test of all the candidates, the Department at their discretion may restrict the number of candidates, to a reasonable limit based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination. In case of grading system, the candidate must furnish conversion formula duly approved by the respective Board/Institute. The candidate should mention all the qualifications and experience in the relevant field over and above the minimum qualifications and should attach attested copies of the certificate in support thereof. 2. Disqualification Individual who has entered into or contracted a marriage with a person two or more having a living spouse; or Individual who having a spouse living has entered into or contracted a marriage with any person, shall not be eligible for appointment to the service. Individual who has furnished wrong information in the application form, false certificate to avail benefits/reservation, false/wrong information in the application form regarding material information, shall be liable to cancellation of candidature at any stage of recruitment process and/or termination of service, if the candidate has been selected. Service Conditions

The candidates finally selected for appointment will be under ICAR service and are likely to be posted to any Units under Indian Institute of Vegetable Research, Varanasi and will also be liable to be appointed/transferred to any where in India.

Probation. The persons selected for appointment will be on probation for a period of two years, which may further be extended at the discretion of appointing authority. Health. A candidate must be in a sound mental and bodily health and free from any physical illness which is likely to interfere with the efficient discharge of his/her duties. A candidate who after such medical examination, as may be prescribed by the competent authority, is found not to satisfy these requirements will not be appointed. Only such candidates as are likely to be considered for appointment will have to be medically examined. The candidate has to be declared medically fit for the service by the competent medical authority. HOW TO APPLY Candidates must apply in the application format published alongwith this advertisement and fill up all the columns in their own hand in block letters. Candidate may also apply on plain paper but the format should exactly be the same as given in website. Applications on formats other than the one indicated will summarily be rejected. If any wrong entries are made by the candidates in the application form, their applications shall be rejected and the Institute will not be responsible for such rejection. No representation against such rejection will be entertained. Attested photocopies of educational qualification certificate, essential qualification certificate, caste certificate and certificates in support of relaxation (wherever applicable) are to enclosed with the application. Name of the post must be clearly written in BLOCK letters on the top of the envelope. Candidates will not be entitled to any TA/DA for attending the written test & interview.

Action against candidates found guilty of misconduct Candidates are warned that they should not furnish any particulars that are false or suppress any material information in filling up the application form. Candidates are also warned that they should in no case tamper with entry in a documents or its attested/certificate copy submitted by them nor should they submit a tampered/fabricated documents. If there is any inaccuracy or any discrepancy between two or more such documents or their attested/certified copies, an explanation regarding the discrepancy should be submitted. A candidate who is or has been declared by the Institute/ICAR and Govt. of India to be guilty of the acts/omissions specified above including attempt to commit, or abetting as the case may be of all or any of the acts specified in the under mentioned clauses may, in addition to rendering himself/herself liable to criminal prosecution will also be liable:(a) To be disqualified by the Institute from selection for which he/she is a candidate, and/or (i) (ii) By the Institute from any examination or selection If he/she is already in service under Government to disciplinary action under the appropriate rules.

Instruction for Departmental Candidates/Govt. employees Persons already in Government service, whether in permanent or temporary capacity are required to submit the application through proper channel. However, their candidature will be subject to receipt of application by due date. Additional information and general instructions for all candidates Candidates must read the instructions mentioned in the preceding paras before filling the Application form. He must fill the form strictly according to the instructions. Merely fulfilling the basic selection criteria one does not automatically entitle to be called for test/interview. Candidates must ensure that no column is left blank or wrongly filled as the information furnished there would be used for deciding the eligibility and suitability of the candidate for being called for the written test and interview. Applications not filled correctly and as per the instructions are liable to be rejected and the onus of such rejection would be on the candidate himself. The Institute will not entertain any claim after such rejection. Copies of certificate should be attached in support of information given in the form where necessary. Any information contained in the attached certificates shall not be considered unless it is claimed in the application form. Candidates must, if required, attend at such place, as may be fixed by the office for a written test and personal interview. The office does not defray the traveling or other expenses candidates summoned for test and/or interview. Candidates will be informed of the result of their applications in due course and any interim enquiries about the result are therefore, unnecessary and will not be attended to. The Institute will not enter into correspondence with the candidates about reasons for their nonselection for interview/appointment.

PART II (Skill Test in Stenography) Candidates who obtain the qualifying marks in the Written Examination as may be prescribed by the ICAR/Institutes will only be called for the Skill Test. However, depending on the number of candidates, the ICAR/Institutes may decide to call all the candidates for the skill test. It may also prescribe qualifying marks in each part of the Written Examination. The Skill Test will be qualifying nature. The candidates will have to appear for the stenography test. The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English/ Hindi at the speed of 80 w.p.m. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer only. The transcription time is as follows: For Stenographer Grade-III 50 minutes (English) 65 minutes (Hindi)

Only such candidates as qualify at the typing test at a speed of not less than 35 w.p.m. in English on Computer and 30 w.p.m. in Hindi on Computer may be recommended for appointment. NOTE: 1. If the candidates do not indicate the medium of STENOGRAPHY TEST at the relevant place in the Application Form, the ICAR/Institutes will consider ENGLISH as the medium of STENOGRAPHY TEST for such candidates and the candidates will not be allowed to change the medium at a subsequent stage. PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION English Comprehension Candidates ability to understand correct English, their basic comprehension and writing ability etc. would be tested. General Knowledge Questions in this component will be aimed at testing the candidates general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected from an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring countries especially pertaining to history, culture, geography, economic scene, general policy and scientific research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline. General Mental Ability It would include questions of both verbal and non verbal type. This component will include questions of analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, spatial orientation, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discrimination, observation, relationship concepts, arithmetic reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series, coding and decoding, statement, conclusion, syllogistic reasoning etc. Quantitative Analysis including Arithmetic The questions will be designed to test the ability of appropriate use of numbers and number sense of the candidate. This part will include questions on problems relating to number system, computation of whole numbers, decimals and fractions, relationships between numbers, fundamental arithmetical operations, percentage, ratio and proportion, averages, interest, profit and loss, discount, use of tables and graphs, menstruation, time and distance, ratio and time etc. NOTE: The Board has the discretion to fix different minimum qualifying standards in the papers of the Preliminary Examination taking into consideration among others, category-wise vacancies. The combined Preliminary Examination is meant to serve as a screening test only; the marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination by the candidate who are declared qualified for admission to the Main/Written examination will not be counted for determining their final order of merit. Only such candidates who are declared by the Board to have qualified in the Preliminary Examination in a year will be eligible for admission to the Main Examination of that year provided they are otherwise eligible for admission to the Main Examination. MAIN EXAMINATION

The Main Examination will be subjective, descriptive and conventional type comprising only one composite paper in the form of Question/Answer Booklet. This will be for 3 hours duration carrying a total of 200 marks having parts covering questions on: I II III IV Essay/Paragraphs English Language & Comprehension General Knowledge Quantitative Analysis and General Mental Ability including basic Arithmetic

NOTE: 1. All the question papers, except Part II will be printed both in English and Hindi languages for which choice of medium will be exercised by the candidates at the time of filling up their application form for the Main Examination. However, choice of language once made will be final and binding and candidate cannot change it later under any circumstance. The candidates cannot use multiple languages like answering some questions in one language and others in different language because the medium has strictly to be only one chosen by them and questions attempted in any other medium would be rendered ineligible for evaluation. Candidates will have the option to answer Paper I, Paper III & Paper IV either in Hindi or in English language. The final merit list shall be prepared based upon the marks obtained in the MAIN EXAMINATION viz. out of 200 marks for the General as well as in respect of all other reserved categories (viz. SC/ST/OBC/PH/EXS).
