CHILD ABUSE: A CONUNDRUM FOR OUR NATION

Child is the father of nation a very famous childhood quote we are being taught but now it has lost its meaning rather confined only to pages of books. Yesterday when I was watching satyamevjyate on YouTube with my friend, he asked a very simple question to which I was choked, to which I could only say that its not the matter for us but why not? Are our children safe on their side? Any person who is not aware of the facts would have said yes for that question as facts are itself surprising enough to put off the land under your feet. The snooty actions of the tyrants has reached to dizzying heights in such a way that it makes the people to think, It can also be possible, these kind of people are also there in the world. A home unites a family, a nation unites the citizens and a world unites all so why it is in practice to abuse those who are not only the future of the world rather the most delicate part of the globe? There are numerous such questions we all had in our mind but answers are still buried in the voices of those children. Meaning of matter Child sexual abuse its not only a topic of satyamev jayate rather it was always a conundrum for the society to curb and because of the tardiness of our government it is even same now. It simply means that an adult or older adolescent uses a child for sexual stimulation. It is the best epitome which shows that for merely a physical satisfaction one can do any thing at extreme. There are many types of abuses in practice today viz. pressuring a child to include in sexual activities, indecent exposure, sexual contact with a child, making/showing child pornography and many more. These unfortunate acts are not only deteriorating the freedom of our child rather limiting their steps towards success. Abusing is not only confined to the actions rather it has a disastrous effect over childs mental, physical and emotional aspects also. These effects include depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, and propensity to further victimization in adulthood and physical injury to the child. Sometimes it is also done by same family member or in rare of rare cases by parents which in addition to all above said effects add more serious and long term psychological trauma. Surprising facts Talking about the global epidemic child sexual abuse has been estimated at 19.7% for females and 7.9% for males as per 2009 examined 65 studies from 22 countries. Among the countries South Africa is being reported as the highest 34.4% and Europe has the lowest 9.2% where as America and Asia are between 10.1% to 23.9%. In India it has been observed that 53.22% of the total children having faced sexual abuse. It is also a misconception among people that victim of abuse are mainly girls but facts are something else, in that among 52.94% are boys and 47.06% girls. Although it is ungraspable but this is happening and so our boys needs to be care more than girls. Among different states Bihar, Assam and Delhi has been reported maximum number of child sexual abuse as well as sexual assaults. 21.90% of child respondents faced severe forms of sexual abuse, 5.69% had been sexually assaulted and 50.76% reported other forms of sexual abuse. Children on the street, at work and in institutional care reported

the highest incidence of sexual assault. These facts are however not that much exact, even now at some corner there are few children whose voices are dumped off under the heinous abusing with them. Lawsuits for protection Child sexual abuse is outlawed nearly everywhere in the world, generally with severe criminal penalties, including in some jurisdictions, life imprisonment or capital punishment. An adult's sexual intercourse with a child below the legal age of consent is defined as statutory rape based on the principle that a child is not capable of consent and that any apparent consent by a child is not considered to be legal consent.
