, Attached for your information and use is the new Saudi Aramco Scaffold Safety Handbook
(SSHB) which contains best practices for scaffold design, erection, and use. The information
‘gontained in this handbook is consistent with major worldwide scaffold standards and
practices.
The Scaffold Safety Handbook replaces Section 0-9 of the existing Saudi Aramco
Constuction ‘Safety Manual (CSM). Effective immediately, all new scaffolds are to be
} designed and erected in full accordance with the Scaffold Safety Handbook (and not Section
1-9 of the CSM dated February 1993). This includes scaffolds needed in support of
5 ‘operations, maintenance, and construction activities.
} Please circulate this new Scaffold Safety Handbook to appropriate personne! within your
organization and modify local scaffold erection procedures accordingly. Per the requirements
' of Schedule D, copies-of this new handbook must be provided to all contractors who erect
} scaffolds for your organization. Additional copies of the SSHB may be obtained from your
Area Loss Prevention Division office. The manual is also available in’ a pdf format on the Loss
J Prevention Intranet website (http://Ip.aramco.com.sa).
