2. Grading Policy:
Absolute Grading is used for Undergraduate (BE/BS) as well as Graduate Programs
(MS/ME.M.Phil.) as per the following table:

The degree (at Bachelors level) shall be awarded at a minimum of 2.00 CGPA
(Cumulative Grade Point Average).
The degree (at Masters level) shall be awarded at a minimum CGPA of 2.50.
All other requirements of (completion of total number of credit hours, all courses and
Final Year Project) of respective degree programs must be fulfilled by the student.
4. Semester System
There are two regular semesters offered at FEST for all Undergraduate and Master
programs:
1. Spring Semester (18 weeks duration)
2. Fall Semester (18 weeks duration)
However, the Summer semester (06 weeks duration) is also offered for the student who
wants to cover their deficiency/improve their GPA of previous attempted courses.
5. Semester duration:
Every regular semester (Spring and Fall) shall be of 18-weeks duration. Their shall be
only single(1) mid-term exam which shall be conducted in 9-10 th week of the semester.

particular subject and taking its final examination, may badly affect his/her
current SGPA and CGPA.
(b) Full fee shall be charged for any withdrawn course(s). There shall be no full or
partial refund of fee allowed under any circumstances.
(c) Grade W will be mentioned in the transcript for any withdrawn courses and it
will not be counted in the calculation of the CGPA/SGPA.
(d) Not more than two(2) courses can be withdrawn in one semester. The same course
cannot be withdrawn twice.
a) The other institution from where a student wants to transfer to FEST must be an
accredited PEC institute (for BE programs) and HEC recognize
institute/university in case of migration into BS program.
b) Transfer of Credit hours:
o Undergraduate Programs: Only course secured with A, B or C grades
can be transferable. This reflects on a Numerical Grade as minimum
60%.
o Graduate/Master Programs: A and B grades course may be transferable.
This reflects on a Numerical Grade as minimum 70%.
c) The courses completed by the student at other institution will be compared with
similar courses being offered at HIIT by Incharge Registration on the
recommendation of HIIT Equivalence Committee. Any deficiency shall have to be
removed by the student.
d) Not more than 50% of the courses can be transferable. The student has to fulfill
all admission requirements and pay the following fee as per university:
1. Prospectus / Application Package Fee
2. Migration, Admission and Semester Fee
3. other Registration & Enrollment requirements
e) In case student has not completed 50% of the coursework curriculum at other
institution has to appear in Entry Test and personal interview at HIIT. A special
examination in lieu of may also be conducted if the date of entrance exam is far
away. If he/she has completed 50% coursework at other university, then entry
exam shall be exempted.

Observing the recent boom in the media industry, Hamdard University has introduced the
most comprehensive and vigorous multimedia program. This four year degree program is
designed to prepare highly competitive media developers for both local and international
markets.
In a highly advance lab-based environment, this program will start from basic computer
literacy to advance multimedia development courses, leading to six specialty areas
namely still images, 2D and 3D animation, video editing and effects, sound and voice
processing, game development and multimedia and web authoring. The eligibility
criterion for admission is Intermediate qualification.

b) Comprehensive Examination
At the end of the prescribed Ph.D. course work, the student will be required to pass a
comprehensive examination. The student will be given maximum two chances to qualify
the comprehensive examination. In case of failure in first attempt, the student will have to
appear for second attempt within one year.
c) Research
(i) Registration of Topic of Dissertation
Upon successful fulfillment of course work requirements and comprehensive
examination, a supervisor shall be assigned to the student in consultation with the
Dean, FEST and Deputy Director, GSESIT. The student, with the guidance of the
supervisor, will submit the synopsis and the bibliography of the dissertation. The
documents shall be submitted to the Board of Advanced Studies and Research
(BASR) through the Registrar and the BASR will approve the title of the thesis and
name of the supervisor.

Medium of Instruction
Medium of instruction shall be English Language. Also, all written and viva-voce
examinations shall be conducted in English Language.
Submission of Dissertation and Final Presentation
On the advice of supervisor, and after satisfactorily completing the research, the
candidate shall submit dissertation at the end of minimum period from the date of
admission. The maximum period allowed shall also be adhered to. Dissertation shall be
written in English language.
Before the submission of the dissertation, the candidate shall give a presentation of his
research work before the departmental research committee for a critical review of the
dissertation.
Appointment of Examiners and VivaVoce Examination
On receiving a dissertation, BASR on the recommendation of the Dean, FEST, shall
appoint three examiners, one of whom should be the research supervisor as the internal
examiner and two external examiners of technologically advanced countries.
The BASR, on the receipt of favorable report of the examiners, shall arrange for vivavoce examination to be conducted by at least two examiners, one of whom should be the
supervisor of research.
Acceptance or Rejection of the Dissertation
The BASR after taking into account the recommendations of the viva-voce examiner
