One vote can make a difference and in the case of Sharon Townships primary election clerk race, it was three. Chelsea Mikel overtook current Mikel clerk, Teri Aiuto, by three votes, with 205 compared to Aiutos 202, according to unofficial election results.

Im honored that people feel confident that I can fulfill this role, Mikel said. I feel confident I can fulfill this role and help the people of Sharon Township. Mikel was pleased with the large voter turnout, about 33 percent, with 491 ballots cast. Thank you to all the voters who came out and I look

forward to serving them, Mikel said. Township Trustee Peter Psarouthakis came out on top in the supervisor race with 223 votes, about 56 percent. Roger Kappler finished second with 147 votes. Im happy to have won the election, Psarouthakis said. We want to be able to help the community and thats why I got involved in this. Im happy to serve the township in this position.

against the appointment and prior to the vote, suggested the board interview a third candidate, Keusch, Flintoft & Conlin out of Chelsea. Aiuto presented the board with a bid from the firm. I felt we should have someone local represent our township and someone who has local experience, Aiuto said. Trustee Peter Psarouthakis, who attended the meeting via conference call, as did Trustee Kathy Spiegel, said he and Treasurer Brian Simons had followed the boards instructions in the attorney search process and had heard no requests from other board members before the August meeting to interview another candidate. Psarouthakis recom-

mended the board vote and select a lawyer, reminding them the contract is not long-term and the board can change lawyers at any time. Zoning Administrator Dave Wilson said he has received complaints about political signs but has been lenient on enforcement due to recent changes in the ordinance. He plans to have the sign ordinance placed in the townships monthly newsletter to remind residents of the ordinance as the November election approaches. Wilson also continues to communicate with the Michigan Department of Transportation to have dead trees replaced on M-52 near Farmers Sand & Gravel.
