Description Aniline is a colorless liquid, which gradually turns yellow or brown. It is miscible with all conventional organic solvents, sparingly soluble in water. Safety Aniline is combustible, malodorous and toxic. It is not explosive nor spontaneously inflammable in air. Results from animal studies indicate: LD50, oral (rats): 512 mg/kg. LD50 dermal (rats): 1400 mg/kg. Primary skin irritation (rabbits; BASF Test): non-irritating. Primary eye irritation (rabbits; BASF Test): irritating. Acute inhalation hazard (rats; test results dependent on toxicity and volatility): no mortality after 3-hour exposure to an atmosphere highly enriched or saturated with the substance at 20oC; deaths after prolonged exposure.

Special properties: danger of absorption through the skin; methaemoglobinaemia. Always refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for detailed information on safety. Applications Intermediate used in the production of:

dyes pharmaceuticals crop protection agent auxiliaries for the rubber industry isocyanates
Packaging Bulk shipments only. Storage & Handling Aniline has an almost unlimited shelf life in unopened, original containers when properly stored in a protected storage area. Upon prolonged storage, aniline assumes a yellow to reddish brown coloration, especially if exposed to light and air. Always refer to the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for detailed information on handling and disposal.
