Competitors: Top competitors for Procter & Gamble include Johnson & Johnson, Kimberly-Clark Corp., Colgate-Palmolive Co., Avon Products, Inc., and Unilever. The indirect competitors of P&G are Dabur, Emami , Jyothy Labs , GKB Ophthalmics. Is Company Proactive or Reactive: In order to remain competitive and achieve growth, they must be able to retain customer loyalty which has contributed to their success. Besides, the company should exploit new market segments and opportunities to support for the concentrated growth strategy, gain market share, and minimize the threats of losing market caused by its vibrant external environment and fierce competitive market. In addition to that understanding the marketing system is a necessity for a successful marketing orientation. By having a thorough knowledge on the factors that have an impact on the target market and marketing mix management can be proactive or reactive. In 1980s P&G was reactive in the disposable diaper market when it attempted to defend itself against environmentalist claims against non biodegradability. A

proactive stance would have been to create a biodegradable diaper. Similarly

P&G

contributes a part of its profit for the welfare of poor people and helps in the education of children which is a proactive stance. So, P&G is neither reactive nor proactive , it follows both the ways.
