What's New in This Edition? ‘Twenty-five years ago we self-published our first version of Stretching. Five years later, in 1980, we teamed up with Shelter Publications to produce a revised version of Stretching for bookstores. Since then the book has gone on to become an international best-seller. Now, some 20 years later, we've decided to do a new revision of Stretching. Here's what's different in this edition: * All of the drawings are new. “There are are 11 new everyday routines: Hands, Arms, and Shoulders + Neck, Shoulders, and Arms * Legs, Groin, and Hips * Lower Back Tension * After Sitting « Computer and Desk Stretches « Blue-Collar Stretches « Stretches for Kids + Gardening Stretches * Airplane Stretches * ‘Traveler's Stretches *There are 14 new sports routines: Aerobie Exercise « Badminton + Bowling © Equestrian Sports + Inline Skating * Kayaking ¢ Motocross + Mountain Biking Rock Climbing * Rodeo * Snowboarding + Table Tennis + ‘Triathlon « Windsurfing ‘In the stretching routines, both men and women are shown doing the stretches, and are wearing the clothing of their sport or activity. *For people in a hurry, each sport routine has a mini-routine. * Warming up before stretching is recommended for the more vigor- ous activities to avoid possible injuries. *Certain of the more difficult stretches have been eliminated. * Times for holding some stretches have been reduced. *‘There is a new section on PNF stretching, a more complex, but, easily learned technique for inereasing flexibility. (See pp. 206-209.) «There is a section on body tools, which can be very effective, espe- cially when used with stretching. ‘We hope you like this new book, and that it helps you remain limber and in good health for the rest of your life! —Bob and Jean Anderson Bebe Yo ] U 20™ ANNIVERSARY + REVISED EDITION BOS ANDERSON Copyright © 2000 by Robert A.
