Every country needs a vision statement, which stirs the imagination and motivate s all segments of society to greater

effort. It is an essential step in building a political consensus on a broad national development strategy, which encompass es, inter-alia, the role and responsibility of different agents in the economy, such as Central, State and local government, the private corporate sector, the s mall and tiny sector, people s organizations etc. It must identify the potential r isks and bottlenecks in a focused manner. It is clear, therefore, that to meet t hese objectives, a vision statement has to operate several levels of generality and specificity

India is a vast country with many types of cultures. There is large number of sm all and large communities Due to globalization, the changes occurring in the world are very rapid. There a re many possibilities in the future for India to grow to a superpower or to dest roy itself in conventional or economic or nuclear war. The increasing number of terrorism attacks also put the future of India in peril. if we project India s image from now on and considering that it will go with the s ame pace then India is likely to emerge as the most powerful nation in 2020 A.D. The increasing population has its advantages and disadvantages also. Increasing population stiffens the competition and the people have to go beyond their limi ts to outdo each other. This would result in best technicians, engineers, doctors to be born in India. T he GDP of India is likely to rise beyond every nation in 2020 A.D, if there is s mooth progress and the nation continues to rise. Today India is still seen as a developing country. Many of the people who live i n slums are still not able to meet their two ends. As new laws are passing to he lp these poor people in order to provide them the basic needs, it can be said an d predicted that in 2020 India will be able to provide food and other necessary things to these poor people and will be able to solve much of its poverty proble ms. With the fast development of technology, soon India will overpower any other cou ntry in the world in technology. Government of India is opening several new IITs in the country to increase the tech power in the country. This may obviously in crease the tech power of India. As the danger from neighboring countries is increasing to capture Indian land, t he Government of India is increasing their defense system to combat any unlikely war with the neighboring country. In order to insure that no country tries to b ully India or tries to capture its land, it has equip itself with the most power ful and most advanced weapons in order to retaliate or defend itself. The growing prosperity of India has drawn many multinational companies to invest in India. They invest their money in the country to get profit. While doing so these companies bring foreign currencies India. This will enhance the country s gr owth. As India has a very large population, so it will have very large consumers . This will tempt many countries to launch and invest in India and thus increasi ng the economic strength in India. Agriculture system is still developing in India. Due to large population in Indi a, it has a very high consumption rate. Thus Indian farmers have to do intensive agriculture. New techniques are developed by agriculture engineers to enhance t he growth and quality of food in India. In 2020 India will be able to become sel f sufficient in food. The crops will be resistant to any types of diseases by se lection process and the production rate will also be very high.Today India is fa cing challenge in meeting the power requirements. But it is taking steps to incr ease its power. The nuclear deal with America is a big step towards making India self sufficient on power. New nuclear power plants are formed and soon these wi

ll provide enough power in order to meet the power requirements. In 2020 India w ill be providing uninterrupted power supply to its nation people. India 2020 will be bustling with energy, entrepreneurship and innovation. The co untry s 1.35 billion people will be better fed, dressed and housed, taller and hea lthier, more educated and longer living than any generation in the country s long history. Illiteracy and all major contagious diseases will have disappeared. Sch ool enrolment from age 6 to 14 will near 100 per cent and drop out rates will fa ll to less than one in twenty. India s claim to the title Silicon Valley of Asia will be followed by the diversif ication from IT to biotechnology, medical sciences and other emerging fields of technology, widening the field of India s international competitiveness and genera ting a large number of employment opportunities for the educated youth. These de velopments, driven by the firm commitment of the government and a quantum expans ion of vocational training programmes, will ensure jobs for all by 2020. The increasingly congested urban traffic will be motorised as never before. Two wheelers will be ubiquitous and cars will be considered essential for most middl e class families. City roads and rural highways will improve substantially in nu mber, capacity and quality, but a four-fold multiplication in the number of vehi cles will tax the urban infrastructure to the limit. Urban congestion will accel erate the movement of business, middle class families and even government office s into new self-contained suburban centres. Cell phones, computers and the Inter net will permeate every aspect of life and every corner of the country. Computerisation of education will dramatically improve the quality of instructio n and the pace of learning, so that many students will complete the first twelve years of school curriculum in as little as eight. Computerised distance educati on will catch on in a big way and enable tens of thousands more students to opt for affordable higher education. Computerisation in government will streamline p rocedures and response times to a degree unimaginable now. Perceptive observers will find that India is leapfrogging directly into a predominantly service econo my. Environmental issues will remain a serious concern. Urban air pollution will com e under control by strict enforcement of motor vehicle emission standards and wi despread use of ethanolblended motor fuels, but water shortages in major metropo litan areas will continue despite a national programme to popularise water harve sting techniques in both urban and rural areas. A massive afforestation programm e will reverse the depletion of forest areas, raise the nation s Green cover to 33 per cent of area, generate millions of rural employment opportunities, and prov ide abundant renewable energy from biomass power production. India will be much more integrated with the global economy and will be a major p layer in terms of trade, technology and investment. A more prosperous India in 2020 will be characterised by a better-educated elect orate and more transparent, accountable, efficient and decentralised government.
