Description and Rationale : (in about 100 words) Why does this course exit? The module develops in depth knowledge, understanding, and awareness of how to design and implement strategies, make strategic choices in a competitive and uncertain environment, and how to lead strategic positioning of companies To provide participants with both a theoretical and practical understanding of how corporate strategy can be formulated in the light of environmental and internal conditions and requirements. More specifically, the module equips participants with a framework for understanding corporate strategy as an interdisciplinary activity within the context of a competitive market economy, leading to corporate decision-making. The module aims to enhance a broad and ethically sound picture of business policy and corporate strategy development with dynamic and stakeholder focus. Contemporary issues in business and management will be discussed in the context of industry specialisation. The scope and limitations of strategic planning and strategic decision making will be introduced in comparative country context. What relevance does this course make in the curriculum? This course has in-depth relevance both a theoretical and practical understanding of how corporate strategy can be formulated in the light of environmental and internal conditions and requirements. Course Objectives : (max 2 to 3 clearly defined) To develop an understanding of strategic management concepts,research and theories To develop a better understanding of the environment in which corporations must function To develop a framework of analysis to enable a student to identify central issues and problem in complex situations, to suggest alternative courses of action Prerequisites(if any): Students are expected to be awareness of the current trends and strategic alliances in the health care sector and other industry and its impact on the economy Learning Outcomes : Think both theoretically and strategically about business Critically evaluate business facts and business data Ability to analyze a companys business environment and identify opportunities and threat at industry level Ability to develop recommendations regarding how companies can enhance their strengths and minimize their weakness Make decisions in complex and unpredictable situations Identify and critically evaluate the threats and opportunities facing a company operating in the global business environment Analyze and assess the strengths and weaknesses of a health sector organization Teaching Pedagogy : What is the proposed teaching methodology? The lectures are used to compare and discuss different concepts and theories and to discuss the issues which integrate different topics.
