NARRATIVE:
Assignment/ Arrival I, Officer Rafidy, was on patrol at the Low-Cal Supermarket when I received a call regarding a 242 and possible 422 in progress at a nearby residence. When I arrived at the location all parties were outside the residence arguing. I proceeded to take control of the situation by separating all parties. Witness/ Reporting Party Interview The following is a summary of her statement I pulled Harris aside for questioning. I asked her how she knew Jones and Smith. Brian, Jones, Is my current boyfriend, and Rob, Smith, Is my ex. I replied, And how did this altercation between these two men start? Well me and Brian were inside my house having a nice, romantic dinner. When all of a sudden Rob came barging in the door talking about, Who is this chump, and why are you dressed up so nice? and I told him to get out because he wasnt welcome in my house anymore, and thats when Brian stood up and asked me who he was and I said, Dont worry about him, baby. Hes just my ex boyfriend. Rob got mad and confronted Brian, Aye, Hommie, who do you think you are coming in my house and spitting game at my girl? I should kick your ass! Then Brian pushed him and said, Hey, Fool, get out of my face like that. And thats when Rob slapped him. I asked Harris, Before Rob walked into your house, was your door locked? Yes, it was. I then asked how Smith managed to unlock the door Harris replied, He has the key I gave him. I asked, And you havent changed your locks since the break up or asked for your key back? No sir, I havent had a chance to change them yet, and he refuses to give me my key back. I asked, When did you two break up? How long where you two together? We broke up two weeks ago and we were dating for four and a half months. I then asked, And how long have you been seeing Brian? She replied, Weve been dating about a week now. Concluding this conversation I continued my investigation and interviewed Jones. Victim Interview I approached Jones who was sitting on the sidewalk and asked him if he was ok, he replied that he felt fine. I then asked if he would need any medical assistance, and he denied the assistance. I asked him what his side of the story was and he replied, Well me and my girl where having dinner when this clown ran up in the house and started yelling and got in my face so I pushed him and he slapped me. I asked, what was he yelling about? Jones replied, I dont know, something about me being with Lynette. I asked if he ever met the suspect before and Jones replied no he had not. I asked if he wanted to press charges against Smith, and Jones confirmed that he did wish to press charges. I then approached Smith. Suspect Interview Smith was pacing back and forth and appeared to still be angry. I asked Smith if I could talk to him for a minute and ask him a few questions. He obliged and stopped pacing. I asked him what had happened and he replied, I came home to find my girl sitting down having dinner with another man, thats what happened. I asked Smith to calm down and he agreed. I then asked Smith if he resided at the residence and he replied that he stayed there a few night a week with his girlfriend, Harris, but stated that he hadnt stayed there for almost a week because him and Harris had been arguing a lot recently. I then asked him why did Harris say that they had broken up, and he replied with, That dumb broad is always saying she never wants to see me again and when I leave shes always calling me back the next day saying how sorry she is and she misses me. I figured it was just another one of those kinds of things. I then asked So what happened when you got inside the house? he replied, Well I see them two eating dinner and I asked what was going on and she, Lynette stands up and says something dont worry about it or something like that I dont really remember. I was pretty mad. I encouraged him to try to explain the best he could. He continues, But then, this guy, stands up and pushes me!, And then what? I asked. And then I slapped him! exclaimed Smith. I asked Whyd you slap him? S/Smith replies, Because he pushed me! I informed Smith that by slapping

NARRATIVE CONTINUED:
Jones he had committed a 242 battery and that I was obligated by the law to place him under arrest. Smith immediately surrendered. I then read him his Miranda rights and he agreed that he understood his rights and was then placed in the back of my marked police unit. Summary It appears that the suspect did in fact commit a 242 and confessed to the crime. Although no threats had actually been made. I took pictures of Jones face as evidence. Evidence I transported the photographs of the Suspect and Victim back to the Anywhere Police Station, the evidence was secured into a locked evidence locker. Disposition Smith was booked in at Anywhere City Detention Center. Smith is being detained there and is awaiting a court date. Medical help was offered to Jones, but was declined.
