Religious Education Registration 2012-13

Our parish is getting ready for another great year in Religious Education for our young people. Registration information has been mailed out to our families. Please look for your information in the mail. Registration forms are also available online at: ourladyofvictory.cc (under the Religious Education tab). Classes will begin on Sunday, September 16th 9:30am for grades K-5th and at 6:00pm for 6th-8th. Religious Ed. Registration forms are due back to our office by September 5th. In addition, please keep in mind that our First Communion Preparation is a two year program beginning in 1st grade. Class attendance is extremely important. If you are new to the parish and have not registered your children or for more information, please contact us at our office: religioused@ourladyofvictory.cc or 486-7678, Mrs. Schechter, DRE or Pat Fulcher, Admin. Assistant. We invite all parishioners to pass this information along to their relatives and friends.

Religious Education PARENT Expectations:

Parents of children in Grades K-5th are to escort children both to and from the lower Parish Life Center (PLC) at the beginning and ending of EACH class for the childrens safety. Your family is expected to regularly participate in the life of the OLV Parish, including regular Sunday Mass attendance and active participation in the many available ministries. Each of our parish ministries is unique and provides for the involvement of both inexperienced and experienced parishioners in many different ways. Your financial contributions to our parish are vital as they support the parish ministries and activities. We urge all families to be generous in their giving. ALL Registered Religious Education Families MUST attend two mandatory parent meetings this fall on the following dates:
1. Strong Catholic Families/Strong Catholic Faith Program -PLC ProgramThursday, September 13 @ 7:00pm OR Monday, September 17 @ 7:00pm 2. Strong Catholic Families/Strong Catholic Faith Program Follow -Up Meeting -PLC FollowMeetingWednesday, October 24 @ 7:00pm OR Monday, October 29 @ 7:00pm

Parents are expected to send their children regularly to Sunday class and to enroll their children each year in our program until they receive the sacrament of Confirmation. This ongoing faith formation helps to ensure that students will receive sufficient knowledge of their faith in order to receive the sacraments. More importantly, it is our hope that through religious education, students will come to understand the love God has for each of us and how to continue to live their faith.

CHILDRENS LITURGY OF THE WORD 2012-2013

Childrens Liturgy of the Word (or CLOW for short) Committee will meet on Sunday, September 9th at 10:15 am in Victory Hall to prepare for the upcoming year. Were looking for new parents to participate. Each week we need 4 to 5 volunteers to act as pied pipers, musicians, leaders and homilists, as well as to help with clean up and set up. No prior knowledge is necessary, and the time commitment is generally for only one or two Sundays a month during the 11:00 Mass. We are happy to train you for a position that meets your talents, but we NEED your help. In addition, volunteers must have attended Protecting Gods Children and have had a background check done. This is a very worthwhile ministry which helps the children of OLV understand each weeks Liturgy of the Word on their own level. During the Childrens Liturgy, each weeks Gospel is read to the children and the homilist explains its meaning in a way that children can understand. The children take an active part as they ask and answer questions during the homily, profess their faith, read the prayers of the faithful, offer up their own petitions and carry up the offertory gifts when they return to the congregation upstairs. Its great to see the children participate in a meaningful way in the Mass. CLOW has been a strong ministry for the children of OLV for over 25 years, but we need new members to continue so were asking for your help. If you are interested, please contact Beth Davin at 486-3875 or ead@netset1.com to discuss how you can get involved.
