(St.

Augustine Church, Barberton, OH (August 26, 2012) Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time In todays gospel some followers complained that what Jesus taught was too difficult to follow but Jesus did not back off. As adults, it is our obligation to clearly teach Christian value to our children. We can expect resistance; often the Christian lifestyle is contrary to our culture. Like Jesus, dont back away! (Insert Graphic 1401-0020.tif) My Dear Parishioners: On November 1, 2012 we will mark a monumental occasion in the life of St. Augustine Parish. On Ash Wednesday 1960, Fr. Charles Byrider initiated our Holy Hour Program which operated in our Church from 6:00am to 9:00pm daily. November 1, 1962, we began adoration around the clock. Thus on November 1, 2012 we will reach the 50 Anniversary of the Perpetual Adoration Program here at St. Augustine Church. The Perpetual Adoration Program has brought immense blessings to our parish and to the lives of the parishioners of St. Augustine and many neighboring parishes. On Saturday, November 3 at the 4:00pm Mass, we will open a Year of Celebration and Love for the Eucharist to commemorate this occasion. Following the 4:00 Mass on November 3, we will have a dinner at the Prime at Anthe's in Akron for all those who participate in the Perpetual Adoration Program. There will be many events forthcoming in the year that follows ending with a potluck dinner following the 4:00 Mass on November 2, 2013 for all participants. I want to ask all of you to consider spending an hour in the presence of our Lord. If you cannot commit to a regular hour, stop in at any point and spend an hour with the Lord. If you want to commit to an hour or want to stop in after 6:00pm, please contact Judy Soltis at 330-212-0926. In addition, starting the week of September 2, 2012, I will draw a name of a registered family each week. I will call the family whose name was chosen to ask what intentions the family would like for me to pray. I will make a Holy Hour that week praying for those intentions. Christs Peace! Fr. David Majikas
