is not a universal science; many of its principles are country-culture-specific. This course will attempt to apply the principles of marketing to the diverse and dynamic global marketplace(s). Key Discussion Themes: 1. A refresher on the foundations of marketing 2. The internationalization process of businesses 3. The diversity of international markets 4. Researching international markets 5. Framework for developing international marketing programs 6. Contemporary issues in global marketing Teaching-Learning Method: Live interactive sessions will be used to discuss concepts in global marketing. Additional learning should come from suggested reading materials. Students will be evaluated entirely based on how they apply the knowledge gained thus in preparing an international marketing program for a business of their choice. If a local business that wishes to go global cannot be identified, it is acceptable to create a simulated business and prepare the program for that business. This will be a group project. Grading: National-Cultural Analysis (explanation of the business environment of the chosen foreign country with special reference to why your offering(s) will be suitable to the countrys social, cultural, and economic environment evidenced from the project report): 25% Competitive Analysis (explanation of the competitive situation including, but not limited to, comparing your market offering(s) with that of your existing and potential competitors evidenced from the project report): 25% Product-Pricing-Place Promotion Strategies (analysis of how you are going to reengineer the 4Ps of marketing to suit the foreign country evidenced from the project report): 25% Project Presentation (based on elements of professionalism, flow of ideas, ability to answer related questions, etc.): 25% Instruction Interface: Global Marketing Management (3 Credits)

Blackboard Learn (https://apu.blackboard.com) will be used as the primary platform for instruction. You will be notified in advance of live sessions and please make sure to come online to attend them. Ensure that you come prepared to discuss the topic assigned for each session the way to do this is to read and research the learning materials associated with that topic. Textbook Requirement: A text book is not compulsory; however, it is a good idea to read and keep in your possession one of the reasonably well known text books on global marketing. Some of the suggested books include: International Marketing, Philip R. Cateora and John L. Graham, McGraw-Hill Global Marketing Strategy, Susan Douglas and C. Samuel Craig, McGraw-Hill Global Marketing, Warren J. Keegan and Mark Green, Prentice Hall Global Marketing Management, Masaaki Kotabe and Kristiaan Helsen, Wiley Extra-Credit Opportunities: Extra credit opportunities may be announced throughout the semester. Some of these opportunities include credits for attending guest lectures, participating in community events, contributing to the press, etc., related to international marketing. Note that extra credits will be considered only if a student has a final grade that borders two letter grades (say, C and B) in which case the higher grade will be granted based on the worth of the extra credit as determined by the instructor. Students may also bring to the notice of the instructor any extra-curricular activities they may have done and request extra credits. Academic Dishonesty: Academic dishonesty includes, but not limited to, cheating, fabrication, and plagiarism. Academic dishonesty may lead to an F for the course component related to dishonesty or for entire course, in accordance with the severity of dishonesty as determined by the instructor.
