Long & Foster reports strong sales
Long & Fosters Moorestown
sales office is on fire! According
to Terry Spahr, regional manager
of the New Jersey/Delaware Re-
gion, Moorestown was number
one in the region in sales volume
and in units, a feat they have
achieved almost every month this
year.
During July, their sales volume
was up 56 percent versus July of
2012, and their units were up 100
percent. Year to date, sales vol-
ume is up 40 percent and their
units are up 67 percent. In addi-
tion, we finished number 10 com-
pany-wide in sales units out of
over 170 sales offices, manager
Denise Jasinski said.
This type of activity shows
that our sales associates are
proactive and positive in todays
housing market, said Gary Scott,
president of Long & Foster Real
Estate, Inc.
For buyers and sellers looking
to accomplish their homeowner-
ship goals, the Moorestown pro-
fessionals are well-equipped to
help consumers identify opportu-
nities in todays market.

Office participates in school program
Michael Iaquinto, an Edward
Jones financial advisor in
Moorestown, is supporting a back
to school supply donation cam-
paign, by using his office as a
drop-off location for the school
supplies campaign.
Local residents may help those
less fortunate in the community
by bringing in items to the Ed-
ward Jones branch office during
regular business hours from July
25 to Sept. 7.
Were asking Moorestown res-
idents to donate school supplies
or volunteer their time, Iaquinto
said. These donations can add
value as one more student will be
provided with the appropriate
tools to begin or continue his
or her learning and develop-
ment.
Edward Jones is located on 67
E Main Suite 1.

ere pretty sure that Repub-
lican Party leaders took a
close look at speeches before
they were delivered at the recent con-
vention. Which makes us wonder how
Chris Christies remarks actually saw
the light of day.
Make no mistake, the governor de-
livered a bang-up speech. He spoke of
values, sacrifice and the future of the
nation and his party. He had people
cheering. If theres one thing Christie
does well, its deliver a speech.
But, in his remarks, that Romney
guy seemed to be an afterthought. It
took a long time for the governor to
even mention the GOP nominee. There
was a lot of stuff about Christie, his
views and his vision, but not a lot
about trying to get Mitt Romney elect-
ed president in November.
Christie took some heat for his re-
marks the day after he delivered them.
Were guessing the heat didnt bother
him one bit.
Christies blunt, tell-it-like-he-sees-it
approach is one of the things people
like about the guy. In an era when al-
most every other politician tailors his
or her speech to whomever they are
speaking to, Christie never leaves a
doubt in anyones mind about what he
thinks. Its not always what people
want to hear. But theres something to
be said for a politician not worrying so
much about being popular and just
speaking his mind.
The governors speech certainly was
an accurate introduction to the rest of
the nation. And it set him up well for a
future presidential run perhaps as
early as 2016 should President Obama
win re-election.
Love him or hate him, Christie defi-
nitely would be an interesting presi-
dential candidate. No one will accuse
him of pandering to special interests.
No one will wonder where he stands on
issues or what he would do if elected.
In these days, where politicians
promise one thing and deliver another,
Christies openness and bluntness set
him apart.
in our opinion
Hi, my name is Chris
Governors convention address sets him up for a future presidential bid
Christie in 2016?
The governors speech at the
Republican National Convention last
week was long on vision and short on
politicking. That might not be great for
Mitt Romney, but it could serve Christie
well in four years.
Girls on the Run to hold first program
By KRISTINA SCALA
The Moorestown Sun
A self-esteem and self-respect program
and a 5K run are coming to Moorestown.
Girls on the Run of NJ (GORTNJ) is hav-
ing its first 10-week development program,
and Moorestown is the first and only loca-
tion in Burlington County.
GOTR is a 501(c)3 program that is used
to inspire young girls and motivate them to
have a healthy and positive lifestyle.
GOTR Program Director Anne Klein,
started out as a coach for GOTR before
moving on to doing more administrative
work for the organization. She is also in
charge of spreading the program within
Burlington and Mercer counties and is the
program director for the entire chapter.
Although there are currently three girls
signed up for the program, Klein said there
are enough volunteers and coaches for
more.
We have the coaches in place to handle
30 girls, Klein said.
According to Klein, there are three parts
to the program. The first part of the pro-
gram is where the girls will learn about
themselves and how to take care of their
bodies. The second portion of the program
will incorporate teamwork by teaching the
girls how to relate within the group. Before
the 5K run, the girls will take on a commu-
nity service project and learn how can
[they] play a role in bettering the commu-
nity.
Each of the lessons has curriculum that
will help get the girls mentally and physi-
cally ready for the run without them even
knowing they are exercising.
Klein said the curricula are created to
get the girls to have fun and exercise at the
same time. New Jersey is not the only host
of this program. More than 140 chapters
are located throughout the U.S. and Cana-
da. All of the curriculua are the same so all
the girls in the program are participating
in the same activities trying to reach the
same goals of self-respect and physical fit-
ness. Molly Barker founded the nonprofit
organization in 1996 to help inspire girls to
respect themselves for who they are.
I just think it gives them a much
stronger sense of themselves, said Klein.
Its OK to be exactly who you are and be
comfortable in [your] own skin.
GOTRNJ will meet in Memorial Field on
Wednesdays and Fridays from 4 to 5:15 p.m.
The program is for girls who are in third,
fourth and fifth grade and will run from
September to November. Registration
started on Aug. 1, but is ongoing. Registra-
tion is $185.
To register or find more information on
the program, visit www.girlsontherunnj.

County library director named
The Burlington County Li-
brary Commission and Commis-
sion Chair Jeanne Ashmore have
announced that Ranjna Das of
Marlton will assume the position
of Burlington County acting li-
brary director on Sept. 1 when
longtime director Gail Sweet re-
tires.
Im looking forward to retire-
ment and its nice to know the di-
rection of the library is in the ca-
pable hands of Ranjna Das, who
will be utilizing her extensive
background in technology,
Sweet said.
Currently, a supervising librar-
ian, Das began her career with
the Burlington County Library
System 19 years ago as a library
assistant at the Evesham Branch.
Rising through the ranks, she as-
sumed the role of a supervising
librarian at library headquarters
located in Westampton eight
years ago. Das duties currently
include managing technological
initiatives for BCLS as it contin-
ues to move forward in the digital
age, including e-books, the BCLS
website, and systems software.
Das said she is eager to lead the
library system into the future.
A graduate of Rutgers Univer-
sity with a dual Bachelor of Arts
Degree in English and Communi-
cations, Das also has a Masters
Degree in Library Science, also
from Rutgers.
Serving as director for the past
12 years, Sweet began her career
at the library 28 years ago. She
noted she has witnessed BCLS
evolve from providing the com-
munity with the services of a
traditional library into the
technological age that includes
the Internet and e-readers.
Its wonderful that the library
has been able to embrace these
changes, Sweet said.
She added that she is confident
the 15,830-foot expansion of the
Burlington County Library Head-
quarters now nearing completion
will help BCLS continues to meet
the changing needs of the com-
munity. The addition includes a
new a 250-seat indoor theater,
expanded meeting space, and
open spaces for community dia-
logue.
Its been fun, said Sweet,
whose retirement will become ef-
fective Sept. 1. And Im looking
forward to new adventures.
