Abstract Banking has always been an important area of economy because human beings have to keep their money

in safe hands throughout the history. Similarly, at the present time strong and well-organized capital and financial institutions are the essential requirements of each county. So no country can be considered strong without having strong enough capital and financial institutions and markets. The key pillar component of these institutions is the institution of banks. Everyone accept the pinch wheel role of the banking sector in the economic development of a country. Banking is the lifeblood of any economy. For an economy to boom and prosper, it is very important to have a proficient and competent banking sector. Banks plays a big part in helping the industrial growth of a country. This is portrayed by the fact that all the developed countries of the world have impressive and developed banking sectors.

The purpose of the writing this internship report is to familiarize students with the banking environment. This acquaintance with the banking will enable them to understand its working s and provide the means for them to produce a comprehensive and analytical report on it. The study has been conducted in National Bank of Pakistan, University of Peshawar. NBP (National bank of Pakistan) has always maintained its position as Pakistan premier bank which is determined to set higher standards of achievements.

The report relies mainly upon secondary data with the use of primary data at instances when the former would be unclear or difficult to comprehend. The report is mostly objective in nature with hints of subjectivity in financial analysis.
