Training Systems
Pneumatics, hydraulics, programmable logic control (PLC) and mechanical transmission systems are all widely used technologies in todays manufacturing industries. Each of these areas require a well-trained and multi-skilled workforce. Feedbacks range of Mechatronics trainers adds a new and affordable dimension to the engineering training of those preparing for or working in these areas.
The Mechatronics range of equipment has been developed by engineering trainers for engineering trainers and lecturers, with safety, ease-of-use and cost-effectiveness as prime considerations. Portability and space efficiency have been carefully considered, too, as the range is available in different configurations to allow for transporting and stowage. Industry specification components are used throughout.
To complement the laboratory and workshop equipment, extensive training material is provided. All the courseware is based around genuine industrial products and practical applications, providing appropriate content to cover school, college, university and industrial level training. Experience has shown that circuit construction is important to re-inforce basic principles of component identification and understanding of circuit operation. The easy-mounting system, quick-fit pneumatic tubing, leak-free hydraulic fittings and safe, shrouded electrical connectors mean that circuit construction issues across the range are as simplified as they can be, leaving maximum time for experimentation, observation and analysis. Each technology in the range comes in a variety of packages covering a range of levels. The Pneumatic systems vary from introductory Tutor Kits to larger and more elaborate sets of components. Circuits use calibrated 4mm tubing and quick release, push-in fittings. The cylinders and control valves used are exactly the same as those found in the manufacturing, production and packaging industries. The electro-pneumatic systems use industry standard 24V relays and control valve solenoids (with LED indicators). The addition of the most widely-used commercial PLCs (Mitsubishi, AllenBradley and Siemens) make the range particularly useful to those working in industry or preparing to. The Hydraulic systems offer a similar range of kits and levels and use the same components as are found in industry. For ease of circuit construction, the remarkable flat-face, self-seal, leakage-free, quick-connect couplings make life simple. No system priming is needed. The Mechanical Transmission Trainer provides a variety of fully working components to demonstrate belt, chain and solid drives, transmissions and couplings on a work-table with full industrial safety facilities.
The Feedback range of Mechatronics Tutor Kits has been specifically designed to give practical and in-depth knowledge of Pneumatics, ElectroPneumatics, Programmable Logic Control (P.L.C.) and Hydraulics, preparing students for further/higher education and entry into industry. All components used in the tutor kits are genuine industrial items to give maximum exposure and familiarisation with the relevant technology. Each component is clearly marked with its appropriate ISO 1219-1 fluid power symbol. Pneumatic connections are made by means of push-in quick connect/release industrial fittings - no tools being required. To make a connection, tubing is simply pushed into a fitting. Disconnection of the tubing is achieved by depressing the push-ring fitting and pulling out the tubing. Electrical connections use shrouded plugs and sockets throughout, for added safety. Hydraulic connections utilise quick-connect, self-seal couplings, for minimal leakage. Fully operational Pneumatic, Electro-pneumatic, P.L.C. and Hydraulic circuits can be constructed both quickly and easily, without the need for tools. This allows maximum time for experimentation and analysis of results and gives students all-round practical experience, raising their interest and, typically, their success. Each Tutor Kit is supplied in a stylish aluminium-framed, heavy-duty, lockable storage/transit case. This keeps all components tidy and secure and allows easy storage and safe transportation, if required. Comprehensive user manuals are supplied with the kits. These introduce the theory, explain the operation of each type of component, then introduce a series of practical exercises that build up to utilise all parts of the Tutor Kit with real-world applications.

Laboratory trolley-based systems with large circuit building panel, 36-001 to 003
Ergonomically designed with user friendliness in mind. Extremely rugged yet attractive enough to be used in any training facility. Being mounted on castors, the trolleys are easy to move but narrow enough to pass through standard doorways. Components are stored in built-in lockable equipment storage cabinets (5 drawer true CNC steel tool cabinets). All connections are made on the front of the circuit building panel via push-in fittings for pneumatics and shrouded plugs and sockets for electrical connections. Components are quickly and easily mounted on the circuit building panel there is no need for tools. Connections are made using push-in fittings. The complete assembly, test and disassembly of circuits is therefore rapid, easy and efficient, which maximises the training time available when putting the theory into practice. Laboratory trolleys are available in either doublesided or single-sided and in both mobile and static versions. Double-sided versions have two equipment storage cabinets, while single-sided versions have one cabinet.

Double-sided trolleys are more space-efficient and cost-effective where larger student groups are eexpected. In addition, low noise compressors can be supplied which fit within the A frame of the circuit building panels (one for a single-sided unit; one or two for a double-sided unit). The large circuit building panels are also available as separate items, either with or without integral electrical distribution (+/-) connections.

The trainers are well equipped to satisfy present day requirements and being modular, are easy to expand to meet any future needs. In addition to standard manual and mechanically operated hydraulic controls, the system can also be utilised for electro-hydraulic, proportional hydraulic, sensoric controls, PLCs and related technologies. All of these are important subjects when undertaking cross-disciplinary courses and multi-skilling type training. A very extensive range of both hydraulic and electrical components is available. All items are supplied complete and ready for use. The hydraulics/electro-hydraulics trainers are ideally suited to achieve the practical requirements of fluid power training courses and laboratory sessions, but with minimal capital outlay. Complete packages of courseware and teachware, including purpose designed practical exercises, for both hydraulics, electro-hydraulics and proportional hydraulics are also available to provide full support for the training hardware.
Double-sided trolleys are more space efficient and cost effective where larger student groups are expected. An optional electrical extension panel is available, which can be mounted above the large circuitbuilding panel. This extension panel incorporates electrical distribution (+/-) connections and is designed for use with the electrical/electronic equipment contained in the electro- and proportional hydraulic sets.
Portable (Transit/Storage Case-based) Hydraulic systems with compact circuit building panel
The Portable Hydraulic Training System is unique and has been specifically designed with strength, compactness and lightness in mind for its mobility (can be moved by one person). Even so, this system is still extremely rugged to withstand the rigours of everyday use and regular transit between locations or from storage to laboratory. The compact design allows the units to be easily used in different training rooms, or even different buildings, making them very cost effective for organisations that offer training on-site at client premises. When not in use the transit/storage cases are easily stored requiring only minimal space, thus making them ideal where rooms or laboratories are used for multi-tasking. Transit/storage cases for the sets of components are lockable. Each storage case has a shaped foam insert to hold components securely.

Note that the guards can be easily lifted away (without tools) from the work-table, to allow full access during transmission set-up. However, operation of the motor is not possible until the guards are replaced.
Setting up transmission configurations requires a small number of readily available, standard workshop tools. A complete toolkit can be supplied as an option, if required.
Toolkit 40-202
A complete collection of exercises and solutions is supplied with each system. These exercises support the transmission trainers and include exercises for motor, vee belts/pulleys, chains/sprockets, timing belts/pulleys, gearboxes and gear sets, limited slip clutch and couplings. Starting at a basic level, these exercises build up in complexity with issues such as: alignment, tensioning and adjustment. Question and answer papers are supplied to monitor student progress. A licence for the original purchaser to photocopy course material is included.
