In addition it includes System Utilities to rebuild caches and repair permissions and a collection of drivers, bootloaders, config files and handy software. 1. Complete Mac OS X Lion setup. 2. When you arrive at desktop, open Safari 3. Browse to tonymacx86.com and log in. If you don't have a user account, create one! 4. Go to tonymacx86.com/downloads to download the latest MultiBeast 5. Go to the DSDT Database to download your motherboard's DSDT 6. Open Downloads folder and move the .aml file to the Desktop 7. Open and run Multibeast's UserDSDT 8. Restart system You may also use MultiBeast to install further drivers to enable ethernet, sound, graphics, etc... Be sure to read the documentation provided in MultiBeast Features.pdf about each option. Both UserDSDT and EasyBeast install the proper bootloader by default, so you'll not need to check that option.

Just to be clear, about the "LAPTOP SUPPORT" option. You put a check in the box if you are using a Laptop TO MAKE your Unibeast installer, correct? It's not if you're planning to USE the installer (to put Lion) on a Laptop, correct? *** Interesting, could you explain what does a laptop do wrong without this option checked? Thanks for all your great work!

"The following guide requires no coding, terminal work, or Mac experience of any kind." How can you claim that no Mac experience of any kind is needed in order to follow the guide, when clearly you need to have OSX running already? Sure, a friend could do it for you and give you the USB drive after, but that doesn't fit the guide. If I cannot go to the Apple store, buy their Lion USB drive, and prepare everything without ever needing OSX until I install it, then you should list "Running OSX machine" in your "You will need" list. You may think it is silly and/or unnecessary, because if one reads the guide, that much is clear, but remember that we are dealing with people. People are smart. People are dumb. Perfectionisim rant aside, AWESOME aid again!

what i really wanted is a tool to install Lion without the need of using a mac os at all...the only thing that this tool does is basically the need for updating an already installed mac osx is not required, such as in SL case u dont need to go to 10.6.6. If u have a SL 10.6.6 u can use other methods,,such as putting the installer in the usb and adding easybeast to it,,please correct me if im wrong or am i missing the point?

Under a leopard installation it seems the unibeast usb to usb installer doesn't show time nor does the bar update after configuring installation. It does however put files on the usb stick as i first gave up after 3minutes no update on the bar and it had about 1.5gig used. i later tryed for about 10 minutes and it put about 4gigs of files on the drive. I am now trying if it will complete at some point within 1-2hours....

You rock man, I've followed your steps to the letter and I got a success story with my Lion on GA-X58A-UD5 even after updating to 10.7.2. The MutliBeast 4.0.3 worked better with me after the update. The only thing that I hate in Lion now is the Bug in the Sharing files with SMB, wont allow me to connect from any Windows nor Mac. Thanks Tony for your great efforts to make our live easy with your amazing method of installing Mac on our PC. Regards,

I broke my machine when I upgraded to SL 10.6.8 using software update and since then my machine was unbootable using iBoot CD as well. I was waiting for Lion clean installer to upgrade my system. But when I boot using the USB disk, it hangs and doesn't even get to the Chimera screen. How bad the software update has broken my computer? What's the best way to resolve this? If there is no way to fix my existing system, I will wipe clean the SL disk so that I can install Lion cleanly. I was just hoping that I could upgrade the existing system. Is there any way to fix this?

Used this method to upgrade my dated 10.6.7 to 10.7.2. FIRST, took a carbon copy clone of the 10.6.7 (had a bad experience last time upgrading to 10.6.6) Then everything went SMOOTHLY thereafter. Had issues with iCloud login but between the Official iCloud thread solutions and finally upgrading one of my iPhones to iOS5, now iCloud is working well. Tony and Macman (and whoever else helps out in these), THANKS!!

I am getting the same problem as "tj" two comments above. All CustoMacMini components installed, Unibeast USB 2.0 ThumbDrive in the USB 3.0 top port. Gray Apple Logo on screen and after 60 or 120 rotations of the little Mac OS "processing" icon, a gray "Crossed Out Circle" (Ghostbuster Symbol) pops up over the Apple Logo. My friend with a SL MacBookPro prepared this ThumbDrive and said that the Unibeast Install took nearly an hour. So I'm going to try to remake the Unibeast Installer on my G4 iBook after I copy the Lion Installer I paid him to download for me to my Applications folder.

The guide says to boot into Lion and then download Multibeast from your freshly-installed system. I think it's more practical to download Multibeast first and have it (and the appropriate DSDT file) on a handy USB stick. After all, on many installs you need Multibeast in order to get networking up and running!

Your Mac (er, PC) must have an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor to run Lion. See http://www.apple.com/macosx/how-to-buy/. Neither Atom nor Pentium processors are not supported until someone patches a Lion kernel for unsupported processors.

Worked with an Gigabyte GA-H67N-USB3-B3 & Intel Core i5 2500K. But had to bring it to 1.6.8 in order to make the USB-Stick, and then did a clean install with it. I tried different approaches before. Downloading the LION App from the Store does NOT work if you have a "Core Duo" processor, as in early intel macmini's & Mac Books. There is also some issues with different USB-Sticks. I tried 4 (!) different USB-Sticks, till I found one UniBeast would fill correctly with the Setup-Data AND which was supported by the Gigabyte Board to Boot-up from. Thes last Issue can get solved by flashing the Motherboards BIOS to the latest Version. But don't even try to use Q-Flash for this. Make a Bootable DOS-Drive out of your USB-Stick and put the Install-Software on it and run it under DOS.

drive in a CustoMac build (not the 'mini' though). I was upset but kept trying different boot flags. Verbose mode -v allowed me to see the boot from the USB drive was tripped up at an iousbfamily issue where it could not enumerate a device that was plugged in. it kept trying, iteration after iteration, and somewhat by accident discovered that quickly unplugging and replugging the drive bypassed this issue and successfully booted into the Lion Installer. Of note: I did not use a USB 3.0 port, I used a USB 2.0 port. Booting from USB 3.0 yielded a 'no boot device' message. If and when this is successful in a full installation, I hope to post a success story in the forum, so you might be able to look for me there. I'm Mamamui here.

Not working. Unable to find Root Device. I have seen this happen on certain USB Flash drives/PC's. FOr some reason the chameleon or Chimera needs to be installed on the EFI partition. That is the only work around. WHy do we need the USB to be Master Boot and not GUID? THis should work with GUID and Chimera on EFI. I will reports back if I am successful with this.

Is it normal? =================== I get this too ... Same as the XMOVE method of installing Lion ... Which leads me to the conclusion that UniBeast is just the same as XMOVE adapted to a USB drive ...

To Tony & all contributors to UniBeast - you RULE!! For some reason the xMove Lion never quite worked, but UniBeast completed without a hitch. Looking forward to finally playing with Lion on my Sandy Bridge CustoMac!

Thank you, now i got everything working very nice. First i had some problems with the keyboard, but then i used on with USB instead of PS/2 and that one worked. So i did the setup and downloaded logitech control center and now my original keyboard is working again. So i am very glad with the result! some small issues need to be corrected by drivers, but the installation process was fast and easy. Now i have a completely working OS X Lion!

@Damian - Unfortunately no reply as of yet. I am good with computers, but getting the right configs for this hackintosh thing is really kicking my butt :P Asus P5GC-MX 1333, 2 gigs RAM. Radeon HD 5450 which reports itself as a 4950 under OS X [iirc]. For some reason, even with a DSDT file I found thru Google, NO INTERNET ugh. That's like 80% of the Mac experience. The other bit I can't really understand is where to place the DSDT file, MAYBE I've got it in the right spot (currently the Extra/ folder in the root of the HD)? How does one modify it to add features or tweak existing ones. And why does the file NOT enable all the features of my Asus P5GC-MX 1333 - all it seems to do [under Snow Leopard anyway] is enable only a higher resolution of graphics 1440x1050. USB mouse and keyboard seem to work, but I'm not sure if adding other cards etc is a good idea because I don't want to crack this fragile egg. Unless of course someone knows of a WORKING dsdt file that enables the Ethernet port, and maybe can recommend a graphics card that still exists to use with my mobo. Trying to make a Final Cut Pro system, doesn't have to be at all fast, just has to "work." BUT - It has to support at least dual monitors. Am I dreaming?

Man is this the greatest method ever! Using USB Thumb drive method is way better and faster also error free than using Disc's that scratch and read slower! No more installing SL first, upgrade then Lion... Oh no, skip all that now and just install Lion with this! Went to Frys Elec. for a Lion native graphic's card for this whack old HP desktop that I'm turning into a Mac Pro. Got the Zotac GT520 1GB Nvidia grafix card and a Kingston White/Yellow (perfect for Lion color) 8GB DataTraveler G3 ($9) which to my surprise its a damn fast USB drive! The Zotac GT 520 was native out the box in Lion using the latest Multibeast v4.03 and iBoot v2.0. Unibeast v1 transformed this 8GB DataTraveler G3 into a Lion USB installer and boy was I surprised, it booted up the old HP in no time, went into the setup in less then 30sec. and did a full clean installation of Lion in less then 15 minutes! Way faster then a DVD installation. Although I couldn't get into the setup page in my laptop when trying this method, i had to use iBoot and then the Lion USB. Later I found out it was halted in "PCI Configuration Begin" and it was do to the Chamera installer in the USB, and in the Extra folder which contain the plist. I took out the "npci=0x2000" insertion and that fix the problem... Now I can boot from just the USB Lion without the help of iBoot! Recommends the Kingston 8G DataTraveler G3 thumb drive for a reliable Lion installation!

Okay I'm confused... I downloaded UniBeast and xMove and the file extensions are .PKG files which Windows can't open... So does this mean that to install Lion and making this USB all-in-one stick I have to find someone with a Mac to create this? Am I missing something here? I only have a Laptop running Windows 7 so is there a way I can do this "hackintosh" thing without having to use a Mac?

In answer to Anonymous (November 7, 2011 6:01 PM), Unibeast is not a copy of the Retail Lion USB stick. It is an Tonymacx86 installer for your existing purchased retail Mac OS X Lion USB stick or your Mac OS X Lion App if you have purchased and download from the App Store. Unlike xMove, Unibeast enables you to perform a clean install w/o the need for Mac OS X Snow Leopard. I agree with others on the forum in that i would download all the other files like MultiBeast, DSDT, networking and audio and have them ready in case networking doesn't work during install. I would also print out the instructions if you don't have a 2nd PC to help you.

No problems here with a Gigabyte H55N-USB3 and Gigabyte 9800GT. I had 10.7.2 running fine with xMove bit that install was pretty loaded with crap and I wanted a fresh start. UniBeast did the trick. Thanks.

Thanks to Robbish trying to answer the question as: "Unlike xMove, Unibeast enables you to perform a clean install w/o the need for Mac OS X Snow Leopard." but let look at the question again. Unibeast let you create an integrated USB bootable / Installation of OSX Lion. In the guide, there are 2 methods of creating the Unibeast bootable USB stick (with Lion inside) a) Lion purchased via AppStore b) Lion purchased as Apple Thumb Drive. the question was: HAS ANYONE created the Unibeast bootable/installer using the Apple THUMB Drive (option) successfully?

Firs off, thank you for your dedicated work and making this possible for the rest of us. I had success in booting to the Chimera screen and then into the languages. I was able to use the disk utility to re partition my HDD as instructed. When I closed the disk utility It said that the Lion upgrade could not be performed on this disk.

I downloaded (purchased) Lion from the Mac App Store, Created a backup of it but, left the original in the Applications directory. (I have not actually installed it on my MBPro - still on Snow)

original in the Applications directory. (I have not actually installed it on my MBPro - still on Snow) I created the UniBeast thumb-drive using the instructions and indicating that it was an app store DL -- with apparent success. Another note, the UniBeast file used 10.1 GB of space - not the 8GB that the document referenced. Any ideas why I got the feedback that Lion "upgrade" could not be installed? (Obviously, it's not an upgrade - the drive is bare.)
