Graduate (MS & Ph.D.

) Programs at CESET
Programs Offered & Tracks
MS/PhD Physics
Tracks: (a) Applied Radiation Physics (b) Material Science & Nanotechnology (c) Theoretical Physics

(a) Applied Radiation Physics: Students in this track make use of Ionizing Radiations for
undertaking research in various fields of Physics including Environmental, Health, Medical and semiconductor defect engineering. Ionizing Radiation is generated through nuclear reactions either from an artificial or natural source such as cosmic rays, alpha, beta and gamma rays, X-rays, neutrons, and in general any charged particle moving at relativistic speeds.

(b) Material Science & Nanotechnology: Science that deals with materials fabrication and
their characterization is known as material science. It is backbone of the industries and advancement in technology. New materials are fabricated, tested and better properties are used to make new advanced devices. Nature has granted some different useful properties to the material when it is in nano-scale sizes. Therefore, myriad of new and old materials are fabricated in the form of nano-particles, characterized and used to form nano-devices. It has developed a vast field of nanotechnology that is vital in purification of water from microbes to life saving jackets.

(c) Theoretical Physics: Physicists who are good in mathematics have the option to select
any stream in Physics and undertake research theoretically in, for example, High Energy Physics, Plasma Physics, Quantum Computing etc.
