NPS switch with epoxy insulators Installation manual

These instructions show how NPS 24kV switch disconnectors with epoxy resin insulators can be mounted as transformer or line disconnectors in one or two pole substations. Line disconnector or horizontal mounting is demonstrated foremost. Also other mounting alternatives are possible. The crossarm is 80 x 80 mm or 100 x 100 mm RHS-beam.

NPS outdoor switch disconnector should be installed only within the design limitation. All the activities listed on this document it must be performed with the switch completely de-energized, isolated, grounded and out of service. Must be observed appropriate guidance given in the manuals for all operations performed on the apparatus.

1. Mount fixing brackets loosely to the crossarm

For shaft support. Only with two-pole mounting.

2. Push the poles in position

Make sure, that the wart runs on the plate

3. Lock the poles in their positions

Push the fixing bracket screws to the right

4. Mount the control shaft

Demount only the outer screws

Fix control lever to the control shaft (one pole mounting)

Put the shaft between insulators and push it to place

5. Tighten all screws

Mount the shaft screws

Make some operations

M8 15 Nm

M12 50 Nm

Tighten the screws

6. (Mount the operating lever, two pole mounting) Tighten the screws

Adjust sideways if necessary

7. Mount the breaking contacts

Before tightening the screws: a) Push the contact arm upwards. b) Push the spring support downwards. c) Check the mechanical function.

8. Mount the disconnector to the pole

9. Push the poles in position

Join the operation rods to the insulator

Join the upper rod to the lever (cut the rod if needed)
