IEEE Gujarat Section announces Best Post Graduate (M.Tech / M.E/ MCA/ MSc. IT) and Undergraduate (B. Tech./B.E) project award contest in the areas under the scope of IEEE, i.e., following branches of engineering 1. Computer Science 2. Information Technology 3. Electronics and Communication 4. Telecommunication 5. Electrical Engineering 6. Information and Communication Technology 7. Instrumentation and Control 8. Computer Engineering and any other allied discipline. Eligibility Candidate should be 1. A student of B.Tech. /B.E./M.Tech. /M.E. /MSc.IT /MCA of final year of one of the technical institutes in Gujarat, whose course requirement demands submission of a project / thesis for award of the degree. 2. Likely to get a degree awarded by the end of academic year 2012 by the institute or affiliating university. Recommendation letter The PG/UG project thesis proposal preferably endorsed by the recommendations from the branch counselor of IEEE student branch of the concerned college/institute. In case that college/institute does not have an approved IEEE Student Branch but student who is an IEEE member is desirous of participating, then recommendation letter and bonafide student certificate of the concerned should be obtained from any one of the following on institute letter head. 1. Head of the College / Institute. 2. Head of the Department. 3. PG/UG Project Coordinator of the College / Institute.

Process of Evaluation A team of experts shall be identified by the then Chairperson of IEEE Gujarat Section with the help of existing Branch Counselors for impartial evaluation of the submitted theses under the following criteria 1. Originality of work 2. Problem definition 3. Relevance to current technological challenges in that area 4. Presentation of work 5. References and acknowledgement to others similar nature work 6. Future scope of work However, the above criteria are only the guidelines for evaluation. The team leader of evaluation committee may decide some more/other criteria for ensuring objectivity in evaluation. Caution about Plagiarism IEEE Gujarat Section is very sensitive about the element of plagiarism. To check this, it suggests all counselors of participating branches to certify that the recommended theses have been verified for their originality. Everybody, including the student, project supervisor, the head of the department and the branch counselor, has to contribute positively to check this. Checklist of submission: Soft copy of the project (in the document format prepared either in MS Office, Star Office or Open Office) to gunvantsinh@gmail.com. Write in the subject line: Best PG/UG Project contest IEEE Gujarat Section. Hardcopy and soft copy should broadly contain following: Title of work, abstract, introduction, prior work in area or literature survey, implementation and your contribution, experimentation and results, conclusion, references). Photocopy of your IEEE membership card of year 2012 with specimen signature. Recommendation of Branch Counselor/HoD/Head of Institution certifying that the work is original. Category of the project under which you are participating, viz., CS, EC, IT, ICT, Telecom, Bio Tech etc. Postal address of the participant(s) and complete contact details with landline, mobile numbers and email id. Result Announcement Result will be announced on IEEE Gujarat Section website http://ieeegujaratsection.org/ on or before the date mentioned above. IEEE Student Branch Counselors will also be intimated separately.
