Greatest Needs for China 2012 Medical Updates

Our Greatest Needs for China When you have almost 1.4 billion people who need the gospel of Christ you hardly know where to start telling of the great needs for help. Truly the fields are white unto harvest but the laborers are very few. Even though we need more workers, we have many workers who continue to work for China. Many souls will be saved because of your efforts. Here are our needs but they are not ranked in an order of priority: 1. We need a new minister for the Beijing church of Christ. We need a young family that is willing to sacrifice their lives in service to God and the people of Beijing. Anyone interested should send their resume to Dave Halligan at halligan1007@gmail.com. This is a full time job and it is very desirable for the minister to speak some Mandarin. 2. We need internet teachers. Many have volunteered to be internet English/Bible teachers and yet we have many more students than we have teachers. If you can meet the following requirements, please let us know of your desire to help. Requirements: Computer skills, High speed internet, Familiar or willing to learn to use Skype, Three hours per week if you will take two students. If you are interested, contact Ron Brown at ronbrown20@gmail.com. 3. We need Bible and English teachers to go live at care centers in China. You will teach Bible and English to the orphans and assist them with their homework. You do not need to speak Mandarin to accomplish this work. cannot help with any of the above needs but if you can make a donation to purchase medical equipment for our new hospital, please consider giving today. The hospital will be ready to receive equipment by February and we need the funds to purchase the equipment. Thank you for caring for the poor physical and spiritually sick people of China. Some will say, "China has more money than the U.S. and they should take care of their own people." We agree, but will the Chinese government ever care for the orphans and sick? Will they give them Bibles and teach them the gospel? The answer is NO. God instructed us to go into all the world and preach the gospel. China is a part of the world and China is our responsibility regardless of what the government has or does. Each year 300,000 Chinese die and go into eternity unprepared to meet God. One-third of the world's population is in mainland China. We have a God given responsibility to take the gospel to these people. Please see if you can find it in your heart to help us in this great task.

2012 Medical Updates

2012 has already been a busy year for our medical division of China Mission. Three open heart surgeries have been done in Xi'an, China. Seven open-heart surgeries have been completed in the U.S. and the children have already returned to a normal life with their families in China. In addition to the heart surgeries, three children have come to the U.S. for various other medical conditions. A three-year old girl had a tumor removed from her eye at Morristown Memorial Hospital in Morristown, NJ. Her host family loved the child very much and was sad to send her back to China because the tumor had already begun to grow back. She will have medical check-ups in

China and her condition will be re-evaluated by the doctors in the U.S. A little girl who had unsuccessful cleft palate surgeries in China was brought to the U.S. in 2011 for reconstructive surgeries at Columbus Children's Hospital, Columbus, OH. She has not yet returned to China. Another child was brought for cleft palate surgery to Lutheran Dupont Hospital in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She has now returned to China. Noah (his English name) came to our care center in Longhui, China when he was five years old. He had a terrible infection in his foot. He was taken to Shanghai and they amputated his foot. He continued to have infections in his leg and a portion of his leg was amputated. The infections continued so he was brought to the U.S. to Valley Hospital in New Jersey for further treatment. Noah is 16 now. He was baptized at our care center in China and his host family commends him for being a wonderful Christian young man. In fact, they wanted to adopt him but because of his age they are unable to adopt him. Instead, a pending request before the court will grant this family guardianship for Noah. He will continue to learn English and catch up on his schooling. He will live with his host family and become one of their children. Two children that have been adopted and live with their American families in Buford, Georgia, continue to have surgeries at Shriner's Children Hospital in Greenville, SC. A young child arrived this month at the Shriner's Children's Hospital in Cincinnati, OH to begin skin graft surgeries after being severely burned in China. Another heart patient will be coming soon to Dell Children's Hospital in Austin, TX. Several more patients will likely be accepted by hospitals before this year is over. We owe a deep debt of gratitude to the hospitals that assist us and provide surgeries for these children, free of charge. Hospital, Morristown, NJ, Columbus Children's Hospital, Columbus, OH, Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital, Houston, TX, Shriner's Children's Hospital, Cincinnati, OH and Shriner's Orthopedic Children's Hospital, Greenville, SC. Others who make these surgeries possible are American Airlines for flying our patients from China and back to China without any cost to China Mission. Airline Ambassadors provides a flight attendant to go to Shanghai or Beijing to accompany the patient to the U.S. and return with the child to China. We thank Margaret Whitehead for coordinating the flight attendants and the attendants that are willing to sacrifice their energy and free time to do this wonderful humanitarian work. Lastly, we thank our medical workers in the U.S. Thanks to Joan Ni, our medical coordinator, for her untiring work submitting the medical records to the hospitals and coordinating the VISAs and trips for the patients. Lily, and other Chinese workers in past years, have assisted patients at the hospitals during and after surgeries. We cannot forget to thank the many host families in each of these cities that provide a home for the patients (and sometimes the child's mother) while they are in the U.S.
