Ex-Professional Standards DC Michael Vause: Now a convicted paedophile

The Bible singles out the corruption of children as a particularly heinous offence: if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea. [Matthew 18:6] and the story of a police service riddled with paedophilia in their ranks has been smouldering for quite some time, but some sections of the media, judiciary and, of course, the police themselves have seemingly attempted to bury almost every case that has eventually come to light.
Police whistleblower
The most recent police paedophile case that has surfaced is newsworthy for many reasons. Not least as, without the assistance of a police whistleblower and a resolute investigative journalist (The Yorkshire Posts Rob Waugh), the trial and conviction of Michael Vause of West Yorkshire Police Professional Standards Department would have passed by the public eye un-noticed Which, let us be very clear, was the absolute intention of WYP senior managers and Command Team. They have recent previous for doing the self same thing with a former Wood St. custody sergeant. No press announcement on the arrest of Vause, sidled off to a distant backwater Court where he neither lives nor works and a curious case of a pre-owned computer and the dropping of serious Level 4 charges which would have meant a certain custodial sentence. rightly so. Vause admitted ten counts of making indecent child images (563 images in total) and was last week sentenced to a 3 year community order with sex offender programme and supervision requirements. He was also put on the sex offenders register for five years and pay 85 costs.

what was not explained is who owned the computer before Vause.

Upon being discovered, Vause refused to speak to police at all other than in writing, presumably with his Police Federation rep in tow, hiding behind the right of silence to conceal the full gravity of his paedophiliac crimes. He offered District Judge Marie Mallon an improbable explanation of curiosity killed the cat and left the Court smirking at his good fortune. Missing from this case also was the press announcement afterwards from the ubiquitous DC John Higgins condemning the offender. It is believed he was one of the two police officers at court. What was not explained was who had made/downloaded the level 4 images and who allegedly owned the computer before Vause. At the time of writing, enquiries had been made to the WYP press office, CPS and the Police

Another key point is the very avoidance of the association with the word paedophilia when referring to a police officer offender; it is instead referred to as Kiddie Porn or Child Porn or various other euphemisms. On the other hand, if a member of the public without the institutional or investigative shield of protection is caught with images of child sex abuse they are almost always and immediately No mention at all of Vauses victims by WYPP - labelled as a paedophile. Authority and no-one can come up with answers to very simple and compelling questions. As ever, with PSD there is always a dodgy element to their workings but we will keep chipping away. Where child safety and protection is compromised we can do no other.

Vause not fit for purpose

Present at the Huddersfield Magistrates Court hearing last week was Mrs Bernadette Major who has had significant dealings with Vause concerning the false imprisonment Mark Burns-Willamson of her son, Danny WPA Chairman No (himself a former further investigation police officer). Bernadette said: Ex detective Michael Vause in his role with PSD proved to be deceptive and not fit for purpose as a police officer. My husband was an exemplary police officer in WYP for 31 years and Vause lied to us both. We have got damning proof of these lies. We believe a deal was done with the CPS as Vause holds the key to a lot of well hidden secrets in PSD. He walked away from court smirking and we were disgusted. He has lost nothing, kept his pension and if he moves away then he can start doing it all again in 5 years when he is off the sex offenders register. He has dealt with at least 3 other child sex cases that we know of yet the police would have you believe this is not true when we can prove it most definitely is. The victims in those cases should all be contacted and the investigations re-visited at the very least.

Make up your own mind.This horrendous case involved a former WYP civilian officer reporting her husband (now a Sergeant in West Yorkshire Police) for abusing their young child. Vause and DS Damian Carr (who also has significant history as a dishonest PSD officer) investigated and it was NFAd. No surprise there, then.

Even more curious

A further curiosity in this convoluted and deeply troubling case is the position of the aforementioned, and Ex PSD Vause is an affront intellectually challenged, DS Carr (now to all decent officers astonishingly promoted to DI) and his past as an officer in the Child Protection Unit. Yet his bagman and friend for the past 4 years in PSD has been none other than the now convicted paedophile, Michael Vause. The ones with brains amongst us will work out the score on that one, too. Which is more than the Command Team at WYP have managed so far. The same Command Team Anti-Corruption Manager that has failed to DCI Osman Khan utter a single word Racist Victim? of denunciation against paedophilia in their ranks. A remark that also applies to the two senior PSD anti-corruption officers based in Wakefield, Supt Alan Lees and the DCI Osman Khan, recently parachuted in as a fast-track management whiz kid from South Bradford NPT. It will have come as a reality check to find himself embroiled in a PSD corruption/racism/paedophilia firestorm and, if he stops looking at himself in the lens long enough he will also find that incompetence comes as standard in PSD. DCI Khan will also feature in a future edition as we have sight of a document that suggests he is the victim of covert racist remarks by police colleagues.

Vause left Court smirking and has lost nothing. We are disgusted.

No plans to review cases

Not, Mrs Major, if the Police Authority and PSD have anything to do with it: In a written response from WYPA it was stated that: Given the absence of any evidence or intelligence supporting the need for doing so, there are no plans to review all previous cases on which DC Vause worked. This in spite of a further unequivocal statement that:: The specific case that you refer to has been reviewed and we are advised that there is reason to believe that it was not investigated properly.
