Hartt School Preliminary Audition Recording for Doctor of Musical Arts and Artist Diploma candidates Doctor of Musical

Arts and Artist Diploma applicants in performance must submit with their completed application a preliminary recording (CD; DVD or VHS format required for vocal applicants and preferred for string applicants) on or before the application deadline. All recordings must contain music of contrasting styles and periods within a time frame of 20 to 30 minutes maximum. Confirmation of your audition date will follow a positive review of the preliminary audition recording.
Peabody Institute Undergrad recital? McGill Live or Recorded Audition Requirements (all instruments, except jazz): Candidates must prepare a recital program of approximately 60 minutes (link to specific instrument/voice requirements). The panel will select the excerpts it wishes to hear. Audition material should include one major solo piece with piano accompaniment from the traditional repertoire for the candidate's instrument. This piece should demonstrate ability to play in a lyrical manner and to articulate clearly in both legato and staccato styles. In addition, one technical tude is required. Sight reading may be given. Mannes School Oboe Audition Requirements Applicants must use an accompanist for all appropriate literature (Mannes will provide an accompanist, or applicants may bring their own). Applicants must bring sheet music for the accompanist. Undergraduate Audition Repertoire (Bachelor of Music, Bachelor of Science, Undergraduate Diploma): Major and minor scales in all keys Two contrasting tudes A concerto or solo piece with piano Orchestral excerpts Graduate Audition Repertoire (Master of Music, Professional Studies Diploma): The repertoire is the same as for the undergraduate audition, except that Applicants must perform a program of complete works from the standard repertoire that represents contrasting stylistic periods Master of Music applicants must perform at an advanced level. Professional Studies applicants must perform at a highly advanced level

Manhattan School of Music (Orchestral Performance Program) Oboe Prescreening Procedures There is no prescreening requirement for this instrument. Audition Procedures Solo Works Mozart Concerto Vaughan-Williams Concerto Excerpts Brahms Symphony No. 1 Shostakovich Symphony No. 1 Rimsky-Korsakov Scheherazade Beethoven Symphony No. 3 Tchaikovsky Symphony No. 4 Bizet Symphony in C Strauss Don Juan Stravinsky Pulcinella NEC All other instruments Applicants for the Artist Diploma in Instrumental Performance whose instrument is not listed above must submit a prescreening video recording of at least 40 minutes in length, principally from the standard repertoire. Selections should show contrast in style and technique, and demonstrate the fullest range of the applicant's artistry. Graduate Diploma Graduate: One slow Ferling etude, and either a fast Ferling etude or a Barrett Grand Study. One slow and one fast movement from either a Baroque or Classical concerto - applicant's choice for additional repertoire. Four excerpts chosen from the following: A. any Bach Cantata B. Beethoven Symphony No.3 C. Brahms Symphony No.1 D. Debussy La Mer E. Ravel Le Tombeau de Couperin F. Rossini La Scala di Seta G. Schumann Symphony No.2 H. Tchaikovsky Symphony No.4 BU MM & Performance Diploma Applicants should prepare three compositions, one from the Baroque or Classical periods, one from the Romantic period, and one from the Contemporary period. Applicants may also offer orchestral excerpts suitable to his or her own instrument. DMA & Artist Diploma Applicants should prepare material equivalent to a masters-level recital program.
