Sun City Festival Citizens Patrol Celebrate 1st Anniversay
Fall Course Enrollment Has Begun - Register Today!
Sign up at the Member Services Desk in the Sage Center for Fall Courses through the ASU Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. The courses are open to all Sun City Festival residents. The cost of registration is $8.00 per course session. A Student Discount Package is available, and allows residents who take at least four (4) fee-paid courses to receive a 20% discount on your total tuition. This is a great savings on multi-session courses. This fall, we have many new community resident instructors and a variety of courses. Many popular courses return along with several new courses, such as An Introduction on iPads & iPhones, one on Saudi Arabia, and a few dedicated to the upcoming Presidential Election. Dont miss out on this amazing opportunity to broaden your knowledge, meet new people, and become an OLLI Member to take advantage of discounts and benefits. Register today at the Member Services Desk! With the support and encouragement of the Buckeye Police Department, Dana Kovach and Ron Bryan began the Festival Citizens Patrol slightly over a year ago. The purpose of the Citizens Patrol is to provide another set of eyes for the Police Department. Patrol members are an integral component of the Police Department community policing effort, as they observe and report during each patrol. The success of the Festival Citizens Patrol, which was a pilot project, has resulted in Citizens Patrols being formed in Verrado and the Sundance areas. The Festival Citizens Patrol currently has 24 members who have contributed more than 800 hours during 2012 to patrolling our community. In April, the Police Department used RICO (drug interdiction) funds to purchase a new Ford Escape patrol vehicle for our use, and the HOA provided a GPS unit for the vehicle. In addition to patrol activities, Citizens Patrol members also assist other Buckeye events like the Air Fair, respond to calls to assist with traffic control, and attend monthly training sessions. The 1st Anniversary recognition will occur on October 18. Residents interested in contributing their time to enhance the general safety of our community are encouraged to contact Ron Bryan for more information.

Stan and Judi moved to Sun City Festival in April 2007 after Stan retired from York International HVAC Corporation as a Territory Manager where he worked for 28 years. Stan and Judi were both interested in seeking a warmer climate for their retirement years after living in the Chicagoland area all of their lives and enduring some incredibly snowy winters. While visiting their son stationed at 29 Palms Marine Corps Base, they traveled to Phoenix and began thinking about moving out West. After looking in Las Vegas and then Phoenix, Stan and Judi settled on Sun City Festival. It was difficult to imagine what Festival would eventually become with so much building taking place at the time. They have truly enjoyed their decision and have
