INFLICTION

Infliction is any sort of imposition or affliction, done by a person on another person that causes something damaging or painful to the other person. Infliction of many different forms are commonly found in todays world; from as mild as emotional distress to as severe as child abuse. All inflictions are controversial actions that cause adverse consequences. Usually most inflictions are intentional, resulting from envy or uncontrollable rage in aggressive people. One of the hot topics in these days is the infliction of child abuse. Child abuse is intended, unexplainable infliction of moral and sexual pain and suffering on a child. There are many causes for this sort of castigation, which include stress, unemployment and irresistible sexual desire. In some cases children are mistreated when parents or caretakers have maladaptive responses to stressful situations or feel powerless. Searching for relief, they may hit someone with even less power than them, and these are often children. Child abuse can also be psychological. This includes name-calling, humiliation in front of others and destruction of physical belongings. Physical child abuse is also another serious infliction which may have extreme effects on the child. Physical child abuse is hitting, torturing or punishing the child beyond his endurance level. The aftereffects of all forms of child abuse may be very deadly. In some cases children even commit suicide and in many others face psychiatric problems after the happening. Nowadays, many governments and NGOs of the world are taking preventive measures to eradicate this inhuman infliction. Many countries have recognized this as a crime and have imposed a fine and a punishment for this. Another very common, but less adverse type of infliction is the intentional infliction of emotional distress. This happens when an individuals outrageous or reckless conduct causes severe mental and emotional pain to his subject. Although it may seem mild, it can have very harsh aftereffects. The sufferer may do senseless damage to himself or even may get into a psychologically ill state as

a result. Some organizations are taking steps to stop this indirect infliction, considering the sensitive ones in the society. Infliction, whatever types it may be of, cause a great damage to the society and disrupt its whole structure. Therefore it should be prevented to the maximum extent. Realizing the possible effects of such acts on insensitive people, a lot of work is being done to stop it. We, being responsible part of the society have the obligation to avoid inflictions and even hold others back from doing so, thinking that its consequences may be far worse than our imagination.
