WHAT IS THE SCHENGEN VISA The Schengen Visa is a uniform Visa, which allows the holder to travel as a tourist to or through the following countries within its validity: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

WHERE TO APPLY If you intend to visit ONE Schengen country, you must apply in person at the Embassy or Consulate of that country. Should you visit SEVERAL of the Schengen countries in one single trip, you must apply for a visa at the Embassy or Consulate of the country in which your MAIN destination is situated. (It is not necessarily the country of first entrance). If you are going to travel more than one time to the Schengen area, then you have to apply for a Visa at the Embassy or Consulate of the first entry.

FEES

The administration fee is 51.60 (the equivalent to 60). Non-refundable. Payment has to be made in cash only. Visas
will be issued free of charge to the spouse and/or children of European Union Citizens if compliance with requirements. Children older than 18 years old and stepchildren are not excluded of the Visa Fees. Children under six are exempt of visa fees. Citizens of the following countries only: Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, The Republic of Montenegro, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, The Republic of Serbia, The Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, and Russia have a special agreement with the EU. The price of the Visa for these applicants is 30.10 If you wish a Fast Track Visa (The Visa is ready on the same day of the Application) the price will be 60.20. Fast Track System applies the countries mentioned above only.

CONDITIONS OF APPLICATION - DOCUMENTS REQUIRED ON THE APPOINTMENT DATE

Important note. From 1st July 2011 this Consulate can only take applications by appointment.
Please note that you may only apply for a visa if you are resident in the United Kingdom and your residence permit is stamped in your passport or in separated card. Your individual circumstances in the UK will denote the documents that you must produce when you come to lodge your application. Please see the particular point below which is applicable to you. Please note that you must produce one application per person. (Including minors) The request for a visa must be lodged at the Spanish Consulate where the applicant is resident. If the applicant is not a permanent resident the application will have to be referred to the corresponding Spanish Embassy or Consulate and may be refused. An appointment does not guarantee a visa. Visas are not issued on the day (except for citizens of certain countries listed on the last page of this information pack) and may take up to 4 weeks depending on the passport.

This Consulate General is not responsible for the expenses of the planned travel already paid by applicants and will not accept any claim for them in case of a visa refusal. DEPENDING ON INDIVIDUAL CIRCUMSTANCES ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTS MAY BE REQUIRED.

LIST OF REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR A SCHENGEN AND TOURIST VISA

1 DEPENDANTS OF EU/EEA (Including UK citizens) IMPORTANT NOTICE: Under Directive 2004/38/EC and according to Real Decreto 240/2007, 16 February, Family members of an EU/EEA National in possession of a valid UK Residence Card are not required of a visa to enter Spain when travelling with the EU/EEA National or joining him/her in Spain. Otherwise, a visa will be still required (Real Decreto 1161/2009, 10th July 2009). For spouses and/or children of Spanish Nationals the above condition applies providing that the marriage and/or birth is registered according with the Spanish Civil Register (original Libro de Familia). Please note that the UK Residence Permit must state literally that the holder is a family member of an EU/EEA National, if not, a visa is required under the following conditions: 1.1. Passport or travel document valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure from Spain and with at least two full blank pages to affix the visa. 1.2. One completed and signed visa application form.

Dependant ascendants (parents) must present the original birth certificate for the son/daughter proving the family link to the EEA/EU national and copy translated into Spanish or English. 1.10. Original and copy of proof of residence (such as recent bank statements or household bills with the name of both parties).

2 NORMAL TOURIST APPLICATION 2.1 Passport or travel document valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure from the Schengen area with at least two blank pages to affix the visa. 2.2 One completely filled and signed visa application form. 2.3 One recent passport colour photograph. (No more than six months old) 2.4 A UK residence permit valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure from the Schengen area. 2.5 Visa fee, when applicable. 2.6 Travel Medical Insurance. This document shall cover the entire period of the intended stay, be valid for all Schengen States and cover any expenses which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgency medical attention, emergency hospital

treatment or death during the stay. The minimum coverage must be 30.000. If a bank covers the visa applicant while abroad, a letter from the bank stating that the above conditions are fulfilled must be provided. 2.7 a Recent, official and signed letter of employment on letter headed paper from the company in the UK addressed to the Spanish Consulate. 2.7 b Self employed: recent, official and signed letter from Accountant/ Bank manager/ solicitor / Local chamber of commerce stating self employment/business ownership in the UK. Letter from the UK tax authorities. 2.7 c Students: recent, official and signed letter from the UK school/college/ university on headed paper stating date of issue, name of the applicant, type of studies, number of lessons (hours) per week and confirming attendance record (a letter of enrolment is not acceptable). 2.8 Last 3 months Bank Statements showing the applicants name and home address. 2.9 Pay slips for the last 3 months (optional). 2.10 Proof of confirmed return ticket to the UK or to the country of final destination. 2.11 Accommodation: Hotel Bookings / Deeds of property in Spain / Letter of invitation from the host issued by the Police in Spain. 2.12 Minors: Declaration of consent for minor children signed by both parents, or either parent with the legal custody, copy of their passports and copy of child's Birth certificate.

3 BUSINESS VISA 3.1 As points 2.1 to 2.11 on Tourist Visa plus: 3.2 Recent, official and signed letter of invitation on headed paper from the company in UK/Spain. Please note that in this case Letter of invitation from the host issued by the Police in Spain is not required

4 CONFERENCE 4.1 As points 2.1 to 2.11 on Tourist Visa plus: 4.2 Registration or official letter of invitation from organizers. Please note that in this case Letter of invitation from the host issued by the Police in Spain is not required but proof of accommodation is still required.

5 MEDICAL TREATMENT 5.1 As points 2.1 to 2.8 on Tourist Visa plus: 5.2 An official document of the medical institution confirming necessity for medical care in that institution 5.3 Proof of sufficient financial means to pay for the medical treatment 5.4 Proof of prepayment of medical treatment

7 HOUSE MAID OR NANNY/AU PAIR VISA REQUIREMENTS 7.1 As points 2.1 to 2.6 on Tourist Visa plus: 7.2 Employment letter stating: - Start date of contract. - Terms of the contract. Must include: salary and bonuses, etc. 7.3 Current form P-60. Original and photocopy. 7.4 Bank statements for the last three months from the employee, showing entries: - The exact amount detailed on the P-60. - The employee's salary. - Sufficient balance to cover the cost during the whole stay in Spain. 7.5 Proof of confirmed return ticket to the UK or to the country of final destination*. 7.6 Accommodation: Hotel Bookings / Deeds of property in Spain 7.7 For domestic personnel employed by diplomatic or consular staff accredited in the UK, applicants must be in possession of the corresponding residence for domestic staff employed by diplomatic staff.

HOLDERS OF PASSPORTS WHO DO NOT REQUIRE A VISA TO ENTER SPAIN

1. Visas are not required for passports of any of the following countries, regardless of purpose and/or length of stay in Spain: The European Union, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland. 2. For visits NOT EXCEEDING NINETY DAYS, visas are not required for holders of valid passports issued by the following countries: Andorra, Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Argentina, Australia, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Brazil, , Brunei, Bulgaria, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Hong Kong SAR, Israel, Japan, Korean Republic, Liechtenstein, Mauritius, Mexico, Monaco, , Montserrat, New Zealand, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Romania, Saint Cristobal Scheychelles, Singapore, St. Helena, Saint Christopher & Nevis, The Caiman Islands, The Falklands Islands, The Caicos Islands, Uruguay, USA, Vatican City, Venezuela. 2.1 British related travel documents: (For passports with European Community on the cover) British National Overseas, British Dependent Territories, British Overseas Citizens, British Protected Persons, British Subjects Canada, Chile, Croatia, Macao SAR, Malaysia, & Neves, San Marino, Virgin Islands, Turks &

2.2 Others: (As per the 19th December 2009, holders of biometric passports issued by the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia (except holders of Serbian passports issued by the Serbian Coordination Directorate-Koodinaciona Uprava) are exempted from short-stay visas (up to 90 days)). Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia.

For visits NOT EXCEEDING NINETY DAYS, visas are not required for holders of Travel Documents issued under the Geneva Convention of July 1951, by the following countries: Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Norway, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. 4. Crew members of airlines and merchant navy. 5. Residents in a Schengen state : If you hold a valid residence permit in any of the Schengen member states, you are entitled to re-enter the Schengen area without a visa on production of your proof of residence and your passport.

DURATION OF APPLICATION Citizens of the following countries must apply at least two to three working weeks prior to departure: Afghanistan, Algeria, Bangladesh, Belarus, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Egypt , Frandesspass documents, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Malawi, Morocco Niger, Nigeria, North Korea, Pakistan, Palestine, Philippines, Refugee Travel Documents, Rwanda, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Suriname, Syria, Tunisia, Vietnam and Yemen. If you are a passport holder of a country not mentioned above your Visa will be issued typically around to 48 hrs. Except for the countries stated below. Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, The Republic of Montenegro, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, The Republic of Serbia, The republic of Moldova, Ukraine, and Russia have a special agreement with the EU. Citizens of these countries can apply for a Fast Track Application where the Visa is ready on the same day.
