PREFACE

The need for working capital to run the dayto-day business activities is to beemphasized, we will hardly find a business

firm which does require any amount of working capital. It is concerned with the problems that arise in

attempting to manage thecurrent assets, the current liabilities and the interrelationship that exist between

them.The goal of working capital management is to manage firms current assets andliabilities in

such a way that a satisfactory level of working capital is maintained this isimportant because if the cannot maintain

a satisfactory level of working capital, it islikely to become insolvent and may even be forced into

bankruptcy. The current assetsshould be large enough to cover its current liabilities in order to ensure a reasonablemargi

n of safety. The interaction and balance of current assets and current liabilities istherefore the main theme of

theory of working capital.For the convineance of study the whole current assets and current liabilities

are further divided into cash management, receivables management, inventory management

however the emphasis in the study is on the financing of working capital requirement which ismainly through banks,

starting right from assessment of projection of working capitalrequireme nts, preparation of CMA form up till sanctioning

of limits by bank.
