Chain Reaction is National Level Operations Management and Supply Chain Event of Ahvan- The management fest of IIM Indore. Students from the premier B Schools across the country compete in an engrossing challenge of operations strategy and supply chain management to prove their mettle and come on top. This event gives an opportunity to various corporate to give their real life problems in form of case studies and get helpful insights. Simulation round covers all critical aspects of Operations Management and SCM like demand forecasting, demand-supply information gaps, inventory & storage problems, scheduling of manufacturing operations , plant maintenance scheduling and manpower planning, thereby participants get a holistic view of both demand and supply sides. Last year more than 200 teams participated in Case Study round and top seven teams played simulation round at IIM Indore. Jury is comprised of faculty members, nominees from sponsors and students. In this era of globalization, efficient and effective supply chain management has become a key factor in gaining competitive advantage. It is the art of providing the right product, at the right time, right place and at the right cost to the customer. There are numerous examples like Dell, Flipkart etc. whose competitive advantage is their supply chain network. Chain Reaction gives an ideal platform for corporates to get the best minds in the country work on their real life problem and an equally good opportunity for MBA graduates to have a hand on experience in operations and supply chain. Chain Reaction will be conducted in two phases Prelims & Mains. The preliminary round will be an online round and will comprise of two quizzes. The first quiz will consists of MCQs & Crossword. The second round will be a case based one where the teams have to give their analysis on the case given to them. Seven teams will be shortlisted for the final round (Mains) to be held at IIM-Indore campus. Mains will be conducted in two parts; first part will have two simulation games and second part will have a case presentation. The preliminary round will be conducted on October 14, 2012 and Mains will be conducted on October 27, 2012. Students pursuing full time MBA or equivalent courses are eligible to participate in this competition .Each team will comprise of only 2 members from the same institution. Multiple entries from a single institution are allowed. An applicant cannot be a part of more than one team. Chain Reaction has been the most sort after event by all supply chain enthusiast all over the country and this year also the stage is set to become a blockbuster.
