John Abraham: Cheating is not Samrat is a closed chapter: in my DNA! Manisha Koirala
For a long time, John Abraham has been in the news for several things - his production house, the success of Vicky Donor, cheating allegations by ex-girlfriend Bipasha Basu and his current relationship with Priya Runchal. Now, for the first time, John talks about his split with Bipasha, Priya and more. Your reaction on the allegations in your earlier relationship... I know that break-ups stir up a lot of emotions and I can empathise with that. I come from a family where credibility and honesty have always mattered. Cheating and dishonesty, in any form, is not in my DNA. It is unfortunate if my silence is mistaken as acceptance for things said about me. I have always maintained a dignified silence because that is how I am raised. I have a clear conscience. How would you describe your present relationship? Things are beautiful and simple, and thats why I protect it so much. We have a true and deep connection and are focused on living our lives and planning for the future. She and her husband of two years, Nepalese businessman Samrat Dahal, have gone their separate ways. And, she doesnt want to dig into her past. That chapter is over. Lets not talk about that, says the 42-year-old, who was in the Capital to promote her upcoming film, Bhoot Returns. She married Dahal in 2010 and hinted at turbulence in the relationship within just five months of the wedding, when she posted on Facebook that she was contemplating divorce. The couple separated earlier this year. The actor is not known to be lucky in love, as before her wedding to Dahal, she had two failed relationships. But that hasnt deterred her spirit. My view on love has not changed. Its beautiful. Im not a bitter person now. Love is a very strong emotion but there shouldnt be any ownership if that is humanly possible, she says. The film industry has chanOnly a few, as insiders, have seen the Indian film industry truly turn 100. No one ever could have seen the whole thing actually, but Waheeda Rehman can certainly tell us a lot about it. At the upcoming Mumbai Film Festival, organised by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image, Rehman will be presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Vibrant, and with childlike enthusiasm, she speaks to us at her Bandra bungalow, which is behind Galaxy Apartments where Salman Khan and his family live. Over a cup of ginger tea, the actor goes back in time, recalling her debut and her mentor Guru Dutt, and tells us why shes glad the industry has changed. Indian cinema will celebrate its centenary next year. Take us back to how it was when you first entered the industry. At that time, very few movies were made. Everybody used to work peacefully. We werent in such a hurry. Even then, India was a leading producer of movies, as it is now. Though these days, too many movies are being made. Technically, weve improved a lot. Weve even started making bold subjects. In our time, there used to be one villain, a vamp, hero and heroine. These days, lead artistes are also ready to do negative roles and the audience is willing to accept them. Thirty-odd years ago, no leading man would have done what Aamir Khan did in Ghajini (2005), when he becomes a killer. These changes are good. The makers, actors and the audience the film industry has changed for good. They are all thinking people now. Though Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam films have always been ahead of their time.
The film industry has changed DADDY STRONGEST: Family first for good: Waheeda Rehman for Shah Rukh!
Shah Rukh Khan apparently took a day off from the hectic shooting schedule of Rohit Shettys Chennai Express to spend time with his daughter, Suhana. Since it was his wife Gauris birthday on October 8 and she was in London with their son, Aryan, the actor didnt want the little one to be left alone at home. The entire cast and crew got a days break thanks to SRK. He knew taking a few hours off in the middle of a shoot would not be feasible, which is why he just asked for the entire day, says an insider. The actor even posted a message on Twitter saying, Watching a horror film with daughter...she isnt scared...i am scared for her...or am I just scared myself?? Either way... scared!! (sic) For the last few weeks, the actor has been juggling Shettys film with the promotional activities of his Diwali release, Jab Tak Hai Jaan. According to the insider,
Thirty-odd years ago, no leading man would have done what Aamir Khan did in Ghajini, when he becomes a killer. Youve worked in some films in the south... I began with one dance and a small role as a princess (in Jayasimha, 1955), which is nothing to talk about. But Malayalam movies have produced very bold subjects. Now the Hindi film industry has also started. Is there any part of the film industry of old that you wish had been retained? The feeling of a family... its gone. Im not blaming anything, but actors are so busy. In our times, Vyjayanthimala, Asha Parekh and I used to do stage performances as we were classical dancers, but we didnt perform every day. Now artistes have to be on their toes all the time. There used to be a lot of bonding back then. Why? Because there were no good make-up rooms! They were horrible, so wed prefer sitting on the sets, where wed chat and discuss stories. There were no bathrooms, yet they made great movies like Mughal-EAzam (1960). Now, after shots these days, everyone goes into
their vans. How and when did you decide you wanted to act? Oh, that is a long story. I was 16 or 17; I used to dance for the stage. Then I did one dance in a Telugu film, which became a big hit. During the jubilee celebrations tour in Andhra Pradesh, our last stop was Hyderabad. It just so happened, that Mr Guru Dutt was there at that time. He didnt know me and I didnt know who he was. He was in his office, when he noticed the crowd outside. He was sitting with his distributor, who told him, There is a girl who has danced in this movie that they are celebrating. Shes become so popular, that along with the top Telugu stars, the audience keeps calling for her. Her name is Waheeda Rehman. Guru Dutt said, Waheeda Rehman sounds like a Muslim name. Does she speak Hindi? After he was told that I do, he asked the distributor if he could meet me. We eventually met, he spoke just a little to check whether I could speak Hindi fluently and we left. Then three or four months after I returned to Chennai, someone told me that the gentlemen I met in Hyderabad would like me to come to Bombay for a test.

Australian MP questions Gillard Free hits took momentum away over award to Sachin Tendulkar from us: MS Dhoni
An Australian politician has questioned Prime Minister Julia Gillards decision to award an Order of Australia to iconic Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar for his contribution to sport. Federal Independent MP Rob Oakshott who expressed his love for Little Master, said the special award should not be used for diplomatic gain, the ABC news reported. I love Sachin Tendulkar, I love cricket. But I just have a problem with soft diplomacy as you call it, he said, adding Getting in on the act of the Australian honours. Oakeshott said the Order should be focused on recognising Australians doing community work instead. Im not going to die in a ditch over it...but its about the integrity of the honours list which should be for Australians, he said. He said that Tendulkar was an obvious diplomatic touch point, and further suggested setting up an inter-nation gong, such as an Australia-India award. On Tuesday Gillard, who is currently on her three day visit in New Delhi, had announced that Tendulkar would receive Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Tuesday said that the loss of momentum due to free hits conceded to the opposition while defending the target was one of the reasons for his sides defeat at the hands of Highveld Lions in Champions League Twenty20. The Lions hit a six off a free hit in the ninth over bowled by Albie Morkel and then a four of a similar penalty in the 17th over bowled by R Ashwin and Dhoni said that these had shifted the momentum in favour of the opposition. The timing of the no-balls was crucial. Small things matter. All of a sudden the momentum shifted, they were able to score a lot more freely, Dhoni said after his side lost by six wickets to slump to their second consecutive defeat. Dhoni, however, said that the 158 his side posted after being asked to bat was a good score though they could have scored more. We got off to a very good start, we lost too many wickets in the middle, so we were not able to slog the way we could have, but we still got the score we wanted. I think 160 was a good score, he said. Chennai are now in a difficult position to make it to the semifinals, having lost to Sydney Sixers in their opening match on October 14 but Dhoni said that they would give their best in the remaining two matches and see what happens. Its difficult for us now to qualify for the semifinals but nothing comes easy. We have
the special honour. This is a very special honour, very rarely awarded to someone who is not an Australian citizen or an Australian national, she said. He is away playing cricket - surprise, surprise - but the award will be conferred on him by Minister [Simon] Crean when [he] visits India, he said. ABC also quoted Australia India Youth Dialogue chairman Ruchir Punjabi as saying that approach has worked with the
Indian public. I think perhaps the Order of Australia to Sachin Tendulkar is probably going to be bigger than the nuclear issue, he said. I think the nuclear issue is a trust issue with the Indian government whereas the Order of Australia to Sachin Tendulkar is going to be the headline in most newspapers here. And I think ... things like that play an important role in bringing the two countries closer, he added.
Former India captain and chief selector Dilip Vengsarkar feels the absence of quality fast bowlers is hurting India in international cricket. Since winning the World Cup in majestic fashion a little over a year ago, India has not been able to replicate the same form in either Tests, Oneday Internationals or, more recently, the T20 World Cup in Sri Lanka. Alarm bells are ringing, and Vengsarkar believes it is time for India to scratch the surface. What do we have at the moment? Zaheer Khan, for one. After that I cannot see any quality bowler, said Vengsarkar. Even Zaheer has been crippled by injuries for most times and has missed quite a few assignments. The rest, according to the former chief selector, do not imbibe much confidence. Ishant (Sharma) has done well at the domestic level in recent times but he must remain fit and prove himself internationally. Youngsters like Umesh (Yadav) and Varun Aaron are talented but have not raised the bar. They may be
to learn our mistakes and apply ourselves and come up with some big scores, said Dhoni. Lions captain Alviro Petersen heaped praise on his batsmen, especially Gulam Bodi who struck a 46-ball 64, for the win. Halfway through the game I thought we gave 15 runs too many. The batsmen stayed calm. Bodi played
exceptionally well with McKenzie and the two young men finished it for us. It was a case of getting to the last three overs. Guys at the end showed some mettle and steel, he said. Generally 10-15 overs is a sort of dead period, you tend to knock it around, but Gulam never allowed the rate to go beyond 10-11 runs an over.
has seen former cricketers including the likes of Mohinder Amarnath, Lalchand Rajput, Nilesh Kulkarni and Kenia Jayantilal rub shoulders with a sprinkling from Bollywood and the corporate world. Vengsarkar said India can permanently rid itself of fast bowling problems if state associations prepare wickets with bounce at the domestic

Speaking fluent English is not only a big deal for a Maharashtrian housewife as shown in Gauri Shindes English Vinglish. The films message of overcoming a linguistic barrier has gripped Bihars college-going Dalit girls who are rooting for Sridevi in English Vinglish in the way cricket lovers cheered Aamir Khan in Lagaan. Girls en masse from various colleges in Patna and neighbouring towns of Bihar have watched the film and are motivated into improving their spoken English. Suman Sinha a leading Patna exhibitor says, Its not just housewives. Young unmarried college-going girls feel the same sense of inferiority that Sridevi experiences in English Vinglish because of a lack of fluency in English. They are coming forward in huge numbers to see the film and going back with the determination to join Englishimprovement classes. Delighted by the turn of events, English Vinglish producer R Balki said, That our film has influenced a section of the audience to improve its language is awesome. With less than two months to go before it hits theatres, Aamir Khan is building suspense for his upcoming crime thriller Talaash. To give the viewers a glimpse of the plot and the characters, the makers have shot a special music video of the soon-to-be-released song, Muskaane Jhoothi Hain. The promotional video, which is not part of the film, features Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukerji and Nawazuddin Siddiqui among others, who play the suspects in the film. Aamir Khan plays the police officer investigating what seems like a perfect crime. The video will be released at the music launch of the film on October 18. The movie will be his next big commercial release after the super hit 3 Idiots (2009), which is why producers Excel Entertainment are leaving no stone unturned. Talaash being a suspensethriller, the music video will build up the anticipation by bringing together all suspects in one video and confusing the audiences, says a source close to the production house. The film also marks the reunion of Aamir Khan, Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani after their 2001 hit, Dil Chahta Hai.
After making a special appearance (which is touted to be more an item song) in Son Of Sardaar (SOS), Salman Khan has now also decided to launch the trailer of Dabangg 2 with the Ajay Devgn-Sanjay Dutt starrer. Apparently the actor, who starred in Yash Raj Films Ek Tha Tiger last, was expected to release the trailer of this much-awaited sequel with YRFs upcoming film, Jab Tak Hai Jaan (JTHJ). News of his growing closeness to the production house had fuelled this rumour. But his decision to launch it with SOS even though both the films (SOS and JTHJ) are expected to release on the Diwali weekend, November 13 has proved those speculations wrong. Salmans relationship with YRF is great, but he felt releasing the trailer with SOS was a better idea. One of the reasons, we believe, is also Shah Rukh Khan, who stars in JTHJ. Everyone knows that the two arent on good terms anymore, says a source

A doctor and a lawyer were talking at a party. Their conversation was constantly interrupted by people describing their ailments and asking the doctor for free medical advice. After an hour of this, the exasperated doctor asked the lawyer, What do you do to stop people from asking you for legal advice when youre out of the office? I give it to them, replied the lawyer, and then I send them a bill. The doctor was shocked, but agreed to give it a try. The next day, still feeling slightly guilty, the doctor prepared the bills. When he went to place them in his mailbox, he found a bill from the lawyer. What time does the library open? the man on the phone asked. Nine A.M. came the reply. And whats the idea of calling me at home in the middle of the night to ask a question like that? Not until nine A.M.? the man asked in a disappointed voice. Mister, why doesnt this cow have any horns? asked the young lady from a nearby city. The farmer cocked his head for a moment, then began in a patient tone, Well, maam, cattle can do a powerful lot of damage with horns. Sometimes we keepem trimmed down with a hacksaw. Other times we can fix up the young uns by puttin a couple drops of acid where their horns
would grow in, and that stops em cold. Still, there are some breeds of cattle that never grow horns. But the reason this cow dont have no horns, maam, is cause its a horse. An elderly woman went to her local doctors office and asked to speak with her doctor. When the receptionist asked why she was there, she replied, Id like to have some birth control pills. Taken back, the doctor thought for a minute and then said, Excuse me, Mrs. Glenwood, but youre 80 years old. What would you possibly need birth control pills for? The woman replied, They help me sleep better. The doctor considered this for a second, and continued How in the world do birth control pills help you sleep? The woman said, I put them in my granddaughters orange juice, and I sleep better at night. 3 guys were riding in a car: a hardware technician, a systems analyst, and a programmer. You placed a profile on an online dating site and a potential mate caught your eye. However, the cats got your tongue and youre at a loss for words. What types of questions do you ask in those first few emails to a stranger on an online dating site? What shouldnt you do when asking a potential date questions over email? Asking questions shows a potential date that youre interested but can be a tricky process to master. You dont want to seem aloof by not asking any questions, but at the same time, you dont want to pry. Keep things light while still getting to know your date by asking these questions: - Where do you want to go on your next vacation? - Are you originally from this town? Where did you grow up? - Do you like online dating? Whats your experience been like so far? What are some mistakes you think men/women make with online dating? - What are your guilty pleasures? - What was the last movie you saw? What did you think of it? - What do you think is the best thing about being single? - How frequently do you like to communicate with someone youre dating? - What was your most embarrassing moment? - What subjects did you study in college? Where did you go to college? - Ask about hobbies or activities she enjoys in her spare time. - Ask general questions about family--how many brothers and sisters does he have? Does his family live in town? - Any funny childhood stories? All of these questions should give you a better idea of your potential dates personality and whether or not hes a good
match for you without asking questions that are too intrusive. However, before jumping into writing that first email, there are some guidelines to heed before proceeding. Here are a few dos and donts when asking questions on internet dating sites. Online Dating Email Question DOs and DONTs - DO ask open-ended questions. While yes and no questions are simple, they dont offer a lot of room for elaboration on the subject. - DONT send a list of questions in an email. Youre writing an email to a person from a dating site. This isnt a police interrogation. Instead, let the questions flow naturally in your email text. For example, if youre writing to her and telling about how your day consisted of trying to crate train your new puppy, wrap up your paragraph by asking if she has any pets or if she likes dogs. - DONT be scripted. With online dating, it can be easy to copy and paste the same text in each email to prospective mates. Most online daters spot this trick right away, guaranteeing you no response. Read the profile and ask your questions based on the information given. By taking the time to write a potential date a personalized
email, youre setting yourself apart from the rest of the copy and paste bandits. - DONT ask anything too personal. Youre getting to know this new person over email. This isnt the time to ask him why he got divorced or how much money he makes. - DONT ask any questions you arent prepared to answer yourself. If you ask him personal questions requiring a lot of thought, as in What is the biggest mistake you think most people make in relationships? and you dont want to put forth the effort to answer it yourself, dont ask. Online dating is an excellent way to be exposed to people you wouldnt otherwise meet. By asking the right questions, its a great way to get to know someone before committing to that first date. Its also a decent method to weed out the unsuitable people as well. Online or offline, asking questions is vital to getting to know someone you see as a potential partner Liked the article you just read? Try these links to more similar articles.
