Gender and Disability Mainstreaming Conference GEDICON-2012 Mombasa, serves to highlight a major lesson derived from government, public and private institutions champions of gender and disability mainstreaming. Research says equal opportunity employers have realized overwhelming results in performance from equally distributed persons of either gender and disabilities, the training addresses the all participation on new legislations framework, the gender and disability as guided in the performance management, policies and way forward recommendations. Policies on environmental and facility improvement within both public and private institutions to accommodate persons with disabilities and gender balance will be presented. During this bi-annual conference emphasis will be on; gender analysis, new Mandate of the Gender and Equality Commissions on Gender Mainstreaming; Reporting Framework, monitoring and evaluation and Gender Policy Guidelines GPGs. Disability Accessibility and Inclusion Audits & Survey, Human Resources Data bank, Buildings Adjustment orders, Incentives to employers and Employee performers appraisal criterion will be cited, the Regional Councils and Commissions of Persons with Disabilities -RCPWDs Gender and Disability Mainstreaming Awards reports from the GEDICE among other vital facilitators from the Ministries, the Council, Commissions, Academia and other mainstreaming stakeholders will be presenting. Conference outline 1. Governments recognizes the need to undertake sensitization and capacity building on emerging issues which include gender, HIV&AIDS and disability in its work. Again, gender and Disability mainstreaming is one of the targets in MDAs Performance Contracting under the purview of Social Services & Governance Division. One way of addressing Gender mainstreaming is by taking measures to promote the empowerment of women by adopting relevant laws and legislation and by promoting the increased participation of women in all positions of decision making. 2. There issues about gender in the current Government/State policy documents. The Vision 2030 and its first MTP has ninety eight (98) flagship projects out of which two (2) flagship projects address issues of gender. In the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), MDGs number three (3) addresses issue of gender and what is stipulated in the our constitution. Gender is about how both sexes (male and female) co-exist at the workplace, at home and in the community in general. Other areas will include: NEPAD under African Union, Number four (4) of its thematic objectives that addresses gender as a major tool of development in Africa. 3. fast-tracking the provisions of gender and disability mainstreaming 4. Setting the Gender and disability mainstreaming targets 5. Creating policies and demystifying an implementation framework within institutions 6. Funding and itemization 7. Capacity Building, getting management support 8. Mainstreaming Gender and Disability into Leadership and Governance 9. Engaging State Agents to champion and fast track mainstreaming 10. CONFIRMATION: Fees must be received in full with your Registration form to be confirmed. The Conference has a limited seating of 300 and will be filled on a first come first served basis. CANCELLATIONS: Full refunds will be issued for cancellations made up to one week before conference begins. Cancellations received less than one week before the conference are subject to a Ksh. 12,750.00 administrative fee. Confirmed participants who do not cancel and do not attend are liable for the entire seminar fee.
