. Overview
The LA76931 is an integrated circuit for a PAL/NTSC TV. It consists of two pieces of IC chip in one package, using Multi-Chip-Package technology. One is a MCU and the other is a single processor for a color TV. The chip is masked according to the software that is discovered by our company. This software number is 56S8. It can be used in the TV from lower to higher classis. The hardware characteristic of this CPU LC8637XX that is in LA76931 and the brief introduction of the function that software has are shown below.

1). Function: Direct tuning by key. DVD control. 2). Inhibit mode: POWER OFF mode. AV mode AUTO SEARCH mode. BUS OPEN mode. GAME mode. CHILD LOCK mode. 3). Instruction: At air condition: the digital key of 2~9 is used to select the 2~9 position number. Pressing two digital keys to select the 10~69 position number. At cable condition, the digital key of 1~9 is used to select the 1~9 position number. Pressing two digital keys to select the 10~99 position number. First press the1-- key to enter 1-- state, then press two digital keys to select the 100~125 position number. If the position number is out of range, these keys are not acceptable. Mute is activated in process of change. If BLK PROCESS in the adjustment menu11 is set to 1, then the blank screen is displayed in this process. After tuning process is normally finished, the last watching position number and newly set current position number is written into EEPROM as REVIEW/LAST. If the same position number is selected, then the process is executed again from the data of EEPROM. In PRESET menu, the digit 0~9 key and 1--key are used to change the current position number. In CLOCK menu, the digit 0~9 key and 1--key is used to set the bespoke position number. In AV state, the digit 0-9, 1--key are not acceptable, but the OSD of VIDEO is displayed. At LINE mode, the digit 0~7 key is used to adjust S-BRI R/G/B-BIA., but the 8/9/1-key is not acceptable. At B/W BALANCE mode, the 0~7 key is used to select eight adjust items. At ADJUST mode, the digit 0~9 key is used to adjust 0~9 items of current adjust menu. The digit 0~9 key is also used in DVD mode. 4-2.TV/AV
1). Function: To change TV, AV and DVD mode. 2). Inhibit mode: POWER OFF mode. AUTO SEARCH mode. BUS OPEN mode. LINE mode. GAME mode. Child lock mode. 3). Instruction: Each pressing this key, the mode is changed among TV, AV and DVD. Mute is activated while the TV and AV mode is changed. If the BLK PROCESS is set to 1, the blank screen will be displayed in this process. The digit 0-9, 1- -, POS+, POS- key are not acceptable in AV mode, but the OSD of VIDEO is displayed. 4). GAME mode. CHILD LOCK mode. 3). Instruction: This key is used to change MONO/STEREO/MONO SAP/STEREO SAP when the SAP IC (LA72700 or TDA9850) is detected. Only the MONO is displayed if the sound signal is MONO.
4-5. MENU
1) Function: to enter the PICTURE, AUDIO, OPTION, CLOCK and PRESET menu. Use user remote controller to enter factory mode. 2) Inhibit mode: POWER OFF mode. BUS OPEN mode. LINE mode. GAME mode. CHILD LOCK mode. 3) Instruction of MENU key: Pressing this key the cycle pattern is shown as below: PICTURE AUDIO OPTION CLOCK NO PRESET SYSTEM While the OSD do not display any mode. This key is pressed then the PICTURE menu is first displayed. At AV mode, the RESET menu is not displayed. When servicing, this key can be used to enter factory mode. Please refer to chapter of 6-4. 4) Instruction of PICTURE menu: In the PICTURE menu, press PICTURE key to select circularly every option. And the CH+/CH- key can be used to select the option. The option that has the cursor is the selected option, and the OSD of this option is red, the others are cyan. The VOL+/ VOL key is used to change the value, the current result is shown with OSD and digital. Each value of option is divided into 100-steps. If value is MAX(100) step then more up the VOL+ key is ignored. If value is MIN(0) step then more down the VOL- key is ignored. The option of CORING and Black Stretch can be set to ON or OFF. The value is automatically written into EEPROM. Exit automatically menu when any operation is not executed over ten seconds. 5) The OSD of PICTURE menu

6) Instruction of AUDIO menu: The stereo function is selected after the STEREO OPT. in the adjustment menu4 is set to 2 or 3. If the STEREO OPT. is set to 3, there arent the options of TREBLE/BASS/MODE and SURROUND in the audio menu. In the AUDIO menu, press AUDIO key to select circularly every option. And the CH+/CHkey can be used to select the option. The option that has the cursor is the selected option, and the OSD of this option is red, the others are cyan. The VOL+/ VOL key is used to change the value. Each value of option (except SURROUND) is divided into 100-steps. If the value is 100 then more up the VOL+ key is ignored. If the value is 0 then more down the VOL- key is ignored. . There are the options of AUDIO and SURROUND if the LV1116 is selected. The audio mode: MEMORY, NEWS, MUSIC and MOVIE. The surround mode: OFF and ON. The value is automatically written into EEPROM. The AUDIO menu automatically exits when any operation is not executed over ten seconds. 7) The OSD of AUDIO menu (about 10 seconds)

8) Instruction of OPTION menu: In the OPTION menu, press OPTION key to select circularly every option. And the CH+/CH- key is used to select up/down option. The option that has the cursor is the selected option, and the OSD of this option is red, the others are cyan. The VOL+/ VOL key is used to change the setup or to enter the next OSD. There is the option of LANGUAGE in the menu when two languages OSD are selected in the adjustment menu11. When the BIO-CLOCK in the adjustment menu12 is set to 1, there is the option of BIO-CLOCK in the menu. When the LOTTERY in the adjustment menu12 is set to 1, there is the option of LOTTERY in the menu. When the CALENDAR is set to 1 in adjust menu12, there is the calendar option in the menu. After the calendar is selected, the VOL+/VOL- key is used to display the calendar OSD. After entering the calendar OSD, the CH+/ CH- key is used to change year, and the VOL+/ VOL- key is used to change month. The result is automatically stored in the EEPROM. The calendar is two hundred years that from 1900 to 2099. The calendar OSD is not automatically exit, pressing the DISPLAY key to exit the OSD, or pressing other keys to enter other OSD. There is the game option in the menu when one of the GAME-MONEY\GAME-CRAB\GAME\TETRIS is set to 1 in the adjust menu 12. When one game is selected, the VOL+/- key is used to enter this GAME OSD. When two or three games are selected, fist press the VOL+/- key to enter the second menu, then press the VOL+/-

10) Instruction of CLOCK menu: In CLOCK menu, if the option of clock has not been set, the options (TIME/ON-TIME/ALARM/BESPOKE TIME/POSITION) are yellow. If the option of TIME has been set, the options that include the cursor shows are cyan. The CH+/CH- key is used to select the option. The OSD of the option that is selected is red. The other options can be set after the CLOCK has been set. The VOL+/VOL- is used to change value. The VOL+ key is used to set MINUTE, and the VOL- key is used to set HOUR. Every pressing the VOL+ key, the time increase 1 minute; Pressing VOL- key once, the time increase 1 hour. If the VOL+/VOL- key is continuously pressed over 500ms,then the time is increase 1 minute/hour every 160ms. The cycle of hour is 24 hours, the cycle of minute is 60 minutes. When the hour is 23, then this time setup is released by pressing the VOL- key. Pressing this key again then the time is set from to 00:00. The OFF-TIME is cleared when the power is set to POWER OFF. The program is auto skip to the position number that has been set at POSITION TIME. The program is auto skip to the position number that has been set at BESPOKE TIME. There is a red clock at the right corner when the attention time will arrive. This clock continuously gleams until any key is pressed. The TV is AUTO set to MUTE at ATTENTION state. Auto search: the color system and sound system of position is the same as the position that had been watched when the auto search is finished. 4. The position that has been set to REMEMBER OFF is skipped when pressing the CH+/key to change the position. The position that has been set to REMEMBER OFF is red if pressing the --or 0~9key to change the position. 5. The AFT function is shut off when this position has been fined, and the OSD of this position is yellow when this position is selected. The operation of America special synthesizer: 1. The position that has been set to SKIP OFF is skipped when pressing the CH+/- key to change the position. The position that has been set to SKIP OFF is red if pressing the --or 0~9key to change the position. 2. The input signal is AIR or CABLE when the CATV BAND is set to 0 in the adjustment menu8. 3.During service time, the LINE mode is used to adjust approximately the B/W balance. a) At the B/W balance mode, press the MUTE key to enter the Line state; press the MUTE key again, the LINE state return to full screen state. If the LINE MODE is set to 1, the line mode will be influenced by the picture content. When entering the line state, the picture is automatically set to factory1 state, the output value of every option is 0. When the LINE state turn into full screen state, the picture is automatically set to factory 2 state, the value of bright and contrast is set to 100, the other output value is set to 0. The screen function is realized when the SCREEN OPT. is set to related value. The waiting time of blank screen (SCREEN TIME) is set according to the different CRT. The setup mark is displayed in the process of waiting if the screen function has been set. If the screen left side isnt covered, please set the OSD H.POSI. in the adjustment to the proper position. The hardware need be changed to produce the phase pulse of CPU if the best state isnt set. The screen function is not used if the screen is not adjusted.
