COURSE OUTLINE
MAT 2322C Calculus III for Engineers Winter 2012 Professor: Weixuan Li, office: KED B07B, email: weixuanl 'at' uottawa.ca. Office Hours: Tuesday, 16:00 - 17:30. Lectures: Tue, Thu, 19:00 - 20:30, STE G0103. Course webpage: We are going to use Blackboard Learning System on Virtual Campus. Announcements and course related material including paper assignments and solutions to exams will be posted there. Your grades will appear in the GradeBook in Blackboard system. (Note: the website is very important to the course students are expected to be aware of all material and announcements posted there). Textbook: Calculus: Concepts and Contexts by James Stewart, 4th Edition. Prerequisites: (MAT1322 or MAT1332), MAT1341. Cannot be combined for credit with MAT 2121. Course Contents: This course cover Chapter 9 to Chapter 13 in the textbook, including a brief review of vectors and partial derivatives, which you are supposed to have learned in 1322/1332 and 1341, in chapter 9 and chapter 11. Course Organization: This course has two tests held in classes on Tuesday, February 14, and Tuesday, March 20. Test 1 covers Chapters 9, 10, and 11. Test 2 covers Chapter 12. The final exam will be scheduled by the University at the end of semester. Standard calculators (TI-30 or TI-30X) are allowed in tests and the final exam. There will be four assignments in this course. The assignments are posted on virtual campus as pdf files. The students should download and print the assignments, then work on the printed sheets. Assignments are collected on the due date before the class. Late assignments are not accepted. You must staple the pages. Selected questions will be marked, and the marked assignments are returned in class when it is ready. If you are unable to hand in an assignment for a valid reason, it will not be counted provided you notify the professor by e-mail before the assignment is due and submit a proper justification (e.g. certificate from UO Health Services) as soon as possible. Then the weight of the assignment will be moved to your final exam. Marking Scheme: Assignments: 10% Tests: 20% 2 = 40%, Final exam: 50%.

If you missed a test by a valid reason with appropriate proof, the weight will be moved to the final exam.
