WIC membership consists of several wood processing, furniture, forestry, energetic and chemical companies and five of the most important sector research and educational institutions. WIC represents one-third of the Slovenian wood processing and forestry sector.

What do we do and how do we work?

The basic aims of the Wood Industry Cluster are stimulated by the radical changes going on in the world, where knowledge is the decisive factor in progress and competitiveness. Research work, acquisition of skills and achieving synergy in different fields are the most significant tools used to enable the Cluster members to develop into modern, knowledge-based companies, capable of competing in the world markets. The Cluster is run by the managing directors of all member firms. The most active directors work together in the Expert Council, which directs the work of the Cluster. The Cluster's office is organised as an Association with two employees and is in charge of implementing the programme that was adopted by the managing directors through the common projects. The cluster office concentrates largely on coordinating the Cluster's activities, as well as leading and coordinating common projects. Till now, more than 60 projects and more then 400 meetings, have been carried out by WIC, many of the projects are international.
