FactoryTalk View Machine Edition 6.

1
Versatile Machine-Level HMI for Stand-Alone Applications

Features and Benefits

FactoryTalk View Machine Edition offers OEMs and end-users features that reduce development and commissioning time, while improving the operators experience and retaining the plant-wide scalability. Reduce design and commissioning time with: Tagless HMI with the FactoryTalk Directory Global objects Library of Rockwell Automation Built-in Faceplates and Add-On Instructions Now compatible with Windows 64-bit OS Expand machine flexibility and capability through: Recipes Machine set-up Datalogging Using the .csv file format, FactoryTalk View ME can write data logs that are accessible via FTP on an Ethernet network for trending analysis. Similar .csv files can be stored on the local PC or PanelView and used to modify values in the controller for recipe changes and/or machine set-up. These recipes can be downloaded to the local terminal via an Ethernet network, as well. Runtime language switching The built-in Microsoft Arial Unicode font includes virtually all Unicode character ranges, meaning that multiple-language implementations can be accomplished more easily, without cumbersome font-linking.

FactoryTalk View Machine Edition (ME) software is a versatile HMI application that provides a dedicated and powerful solution for machine-level operator interface devices. As an integral element of the Rockwell Automation visualization solution, FactoryTalk View Machine Edition provides superior graphics, runtime language switching and faster commissioning time through a common development environment. FactoryTalk View Machine Edition 6.1 adds new features that speed development time by up to 30 percent, while enhancing the functionality and impact of HMI applications for machine-level, PC-based operator interface solutions. These new features include Complete Symbol Factory Library to allow users to create more effective and compelling displays, in less time. Ability to embed browser window in HMI - applicationsoperators can easily access documentation, recipes and other html-content without direct control of the browser. Extend capabilities for data-logging and recipe management using a common .csv file format. A built-in Microsoft Arial Unicode font that allows one run-time application to be deployed in up to 20 languages without cumbersome font-linking. A stand-alone version of the Machine Edition Transfer Utility simplifies loading applications on to PanelView Plus without having to install and have a license for FactoryTalk View Studio.

Optimized ControlLogix Communications Using RSLinx Enterprise

Optimize Your Investment FactoryTalk View ME provides premier integration with Rockwell Automation Integrated Architecture, maximizing your existing control system investment. For example, RSLinx Enterprise communications offer native, optimized communications to Logix platforms. Enabled by FactoryTalk Directory, FactoryTalk View Machine Edition allows browsing to a local directory for RSLogix tag addresses and accessing controller tags directly. FactoryTalk View Machine Edition supports KepServer Enterprise software, which provides serial and Ethernet OPC servers that allow communication between many third-party programmable controllers, industrial devices and FactoryTalk View Machine Edition.

Global Objects Global objects allow you to link the appearance and behavior of a base graphic object to multiple references of the object throughout a FactoryTalk View application, saving you development time. Global Object parameters allow the creation of reusable parameterized faceplates and templates. Usability is enhanced by the ability to deploy faceplates and templates at design time, and parameterized element can be substituted with top-level UDT tag support. Library of Rockwell Automation Built Faceplates and AOIs The library of faceplates and AOIs: Provides for monitoring status of I/O, controllers and networks, and for control of some of these devices Saves time, can easily be added to any HMI application Are automatically updated as Rockwell Automation introduces new and updated faceplates and AOIs Configure and Monitor Alarm Conditions The FactoryTalk View alarm system quickly alerts you and your operators to conditions requiring immediate action. You can use the Alarm Setup editor to configure alarm conditions. When an alarm condition occurs during runtime, the system can pop up a predefined display, sound an alarm signal, or send the alarm to a printer. Alarm system features include: Word alarm triggers based on analog tags, digital tags, or expressions Bit and least-significant bit alarm triggers Ability to acknowledge, silence, and clear alarms

Reduce Commissioning Time FactoryTalk View Machine Edition Delivers

Tagless HMI with the FactoryTalk Directory FactoryTalk Directory gives you access to tags held in controllers by referencing them through a common address book. For example, tags defined in RSLogix programming software and referenced via RSLinx communications software, are automatically available for browsing and accessing in a local directory. With FactoryTalk Directory, theres no need to recreate or import tags into a separate tag database.

Recipes, Machine Set-Up and Data Logging Using the .csv file format, FactoryTalk View ME can write data logs for offline trending analysis. Similar .csv files can be stored on the local PC or PanelView and used to modify values in the controller for recipe changes and/or machine set-up. These recipes also can be downloaded to the local terminal via an Ethernet network. Keeping System Data Secure FactoryTalk Security provides security services integrated into both the FactoryTalk local directory and the FactoryTalk network directory. FactoryTalk Security supports security policies that govern how security is implemented. For example, a security policy can define the rules for passwords regarding how many characters are required and how complex passwords must be.

of machine-level applications within supervisory-level projects. The solution also encompasses flexible system consisting of activation procedures, a common address book, centralized authentication and access control, and uniform diagnostics that can help reduce costs and extend the life cycle of your existing investments.

Simulate Runtime with Quick Test Run Capabilities

To make it easy to test your systems as you build them, FactoryTalk View Studio includes quick test features. Quick Test Run operates from within the graphics editor to verify operation of the objects and animations within the graphic. The full test run from FactoryTalk View Studio offers a time-limited runtime to check connectivity with RSLinx and OPC and allows the running of the complete application from within the development environment.

Scalability to Grow
FactoryTalk View Studio Scale Machine-Level HMI Applications Across Multiple Platforms The common development environment used across the FactoryTalk View suite and PanelView Plus operator terminals expands the scope of traditional machine-level HMI development from dedicated devices to a much broader scale that includes open Microsoft Windows CE solutions and Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems. FactoryTalk Machine Edition is part of the FactoryTalk Enterprise Series, which offers a scalable HMI architecture, making it easy to reuse components

Runtime Application Conversion Equals Easier Migration

An automated wizard lets you import PanelView Standard and PanelView Enhanced projects into FactoryTalk View Machine Edition applications via FactoryTalk View Studio. The process successfully retains most of a PanelView project, including graphic displays and most objects, text, tags, alarm messages, and local and global messages.

Multiple Version Support

FactoryTalk View Studio allows you to create runtime applications (.mer files) for use with previous FactoryTalk View Machine Edition runtime versions, giving you the option of maintaining an installed base of older runtime versions and PanelView Plus and PanelView Plus CE terminals while using the latest FactoryTalk View Studio editor. This eliminates the time required to upgrade and requalify the runtime software or upgrade terminals to the latest firmware.

Runtime Language Switching

FactoryTalk View Enterprise, both FactoryTalk View Site Edition and FactoryTalk View Machine Edition, supports Runtime Language Switching of 20 runtime and 40 design-time languages. You have the ability to configure multiple language versions of an application with the capability of switching application languages dynamically at runtime. Text within alarm, local and information messages, as well as text embedded in graphics objects, can be translated easily using the string import/export to Microsoft Excel feature. This feature optimizes duplicate strings and allows a single translation for strings that appear multiple times in the application. The built-in Microsoft Arial Unicode font includes virtually all Unicode character ranges so multiple-language implementations can be accomplished more easily, without cumbersome font-linking.
