Head Coaches th Jarrett Samuels (Farrell) is in his 5 season (2007-2010, 2012) and has a 54-13 record overall. The Steelers have won 3 Region 1 and District 10 titles under Coach Samuels and advanced to the PIAA Western Finals 3 times. The Steelers have advanced to at least the D10 semifinals in every season under Coach Samuels. Jason McElhaney (WM) is in his 6 season as the Big Reds taskmaster. Lou Falconi 1980-2006 210-91-6 Coach Falconi was a letter winner for Farrell in early 1960s for Coach Tony Paulekas. He graduated from Farrell in 1965. His football talents took him to Edinboro State College where he played running back and wide receiver. He began his coaching career in 1969 as an assistant coach at Hickory High School. Upon graduation from Edinboro, Coach Falconi was drafted by the US Army and ended his service with an eight month tour of duty in South Vietnam. He began coaching at Farrell in 1973 and was an assistant coach on the 1976 WPIAL Championship team. nd He was hired as the head coach in 1980 and would win 210 games in 27 years, retiring as the 2 most winning head coach in Mercer County history. He led Farrell to 9 conference championships, 4 WPIAL Championships (1986, 1990, 1995, 1996), 1 District 10 Championship (1985), 1 WPIAL Runner-up (1988), 1 PIAA State Runner-Up (1990) and 2 PIAA State Championships (1995, 1996). He also coached 23 all-state players and won 3 Steel Bowls vs. the cross town rival Sharon Tigers. The Steelers made the playoffs 18 times under his leadership. In recognition of his accomplishments, Coach Falconi was named the Conference coach of the year 8 times (1983, 1986, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1995, 1996 and 2004) as well as the Pennsylvania Scholastic Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year 3 times (1986, 1995, 1996), the Pittsburgh Curbstone Coach of the year (1986, 1990, 1995, 1996), the Nike Coach of the Year Clinic Award (1995 and 1996), the National Italian-American Hall of Fame-Pittsburgh Chapter, Coach of the Year (1996) and the West Penn Football Coaches Association Coach of the Year (1990, 1991, 1995, 1996 and 1999). He was inducted into the Mercer County Hall of Fame after retiring as a Social Studies Teacher and Head Football coach from Farrell. Tim Scarvel 2011 6-5 Tim Scarvel returned to his alma-mater to coach in 2011. Coach Scarvel graduated from Farrell in 1991 and comes from a Farrell football family. His father was a teacher and football coach at Farrell and his older brother also

played at Farrell. During his playing days, Coach Scarvel was a member of the 1990 WPIAL championship and PIAA state runner-up team. He was selected as a First-Team All-State Defensive Lineman that year. Coach Scarvel served 4 years as the head coach at Reynolds, and led the Raiders to the 2005 District 10 AA championship, the PIAA Western Finals (Final 4) and a school record 11 wins. He was also the head coach for 1 year at Kennedy Catholic High School. Season Results Under Coach Scarvel 2011 Total Jarrett Samuels 2007-2010, 2012-present 48-9 Jarrett Samuels returned to lead his alma mater in 2007 following the retirement of legendary coach Lou Falconi. Coach Samuels played for Coach Falconi from 1986-1989. Coach Samuels led a quick turnaround of the famed Farrell program by leading them to the D10 semifinals in his first season. The next 3 seasons would be record setting. The Steelers would win 3 straight Region and District 10 championships and appear in the Western Finals (PIAA Final Four) in all three of those seasons. Coach Samuels four years as head coach also produced the senior class with the most wins (2007-2010, 48 wins) and 9 all-state players. Coach Jarrett returned to the Steelers th sideline after the 2011 season and won a 4 straight Steel Bowl in his first game back. ROCKIN THE NCAA ROB TRUDO is a sophomore offensive lineman at Syracuse University. Rob has started 5 games in 2012 and played in every game this season for the Orange. He was a member of the Athletic Directors Honor Roll last season and was selected to the 2011 BIG-EAST AllAcademic Team. At Farrell Rob was a two-time first team all state selection, played in the Chesapeake Bowl as a senior and led the Steelers to a 48-9 record including 3 District 10 titles and 3 appearances in the PIAA Final Four under coach Jarrett Samuels. Rob was also a member of National Honor Society and his class president. He is enrolled in the College of Engineering and Computer Science at Syracuse.

TERRY PERFILIO is a redshirt junior at Clarion University who has played in every game for Golden Eagles over the last 3 seasons. At Farrell, Terry was a first team all state selection in 2008 and led the Steelers to the District 10 title and their first appearance in the PIAA Final Four since 1996. He recorded 65 tackles during his senior year and finished his career making 37 consecutive starts over 3 seasons. Terry was a 3 year letter winner at Farrell.

LAWRENCE HUGHES is a freshman on Youngstown State Universitys nationally ranked football team. At Farrell, Lawrence accumulated more than 1,000 yards of offense with 14 touchdowns as a senior and was a District 10, Region 1 first-team all-star selection as an allpurpose back. He was ranked as the 268th-best prospect in Pennsylvania by Maxpreps He had 501 yards receiving on 25 receptions, caught seven touchdown passes and rushed for 586 yards on 57 carries and scored seven touchdowns. Coach was Jarrett Samuels. Lawrence also played basketball and boys volleyball and was a District 10 qualifier in several events for the track and field team.
