The first day of the project, there will be a review and students will make plans with a rough draft. 2. Students will collaborate and work together on their pillars. Objectives: The students will know how to effectively communicate and work with their peers. Students will reflect on character counts of Iowa and PBIS. Students will understand the character traits that make the pillars. Students will do Collaborative work. Intro/Motivation: Students will be asked at the beginning of the lesson changes they wish to see among their school, focusing on behaviors and character of their peers. Procedure: 1. In class, we will go over the requirements of the project and ask questions to completely understand the concept. Each class, assuming there are roughly 20 students per class, will collaboratively create a montage on a cement pillar, which of course will be provided by the teacher. The pillar will be displayed and installed in the school for everyone to see. Five classes will be participating in this project. 2. Each student is then responsible for creating a design they would like their peers to see how we can improve our school. 3. Collaboratively the class will work on the final product. They will be in charge of designating tasks, mapping out the placement and arrangement of found objects, color choice, etc. I will supervise and give guidance as I think necessary. Students will also apply found objects to their pillars, they are allowed to bring in found objects that are appropriate, and incorporate them into the design on the approval of their classmates and myself. 4. They will be given one cement pillar to share between five classes in which they will construct their masterpiece. 5. Supplies will be laid out each day upon students desire to use them. Paint, brushes, a box of found objects from me, hair dryers, glue, tape, etc. I will also provide sand of which the students can mix with glue to create texture.
