Presidents Report from Natalie Jupe Gday everyone, Another big board meeting last week thanks to all who attended (very much appreciated). I will be getting the November visioning points and outcomes to members via email sometime in the next week. The big thing to come from the board meeting was selecting Tom Busby as our RYLA candidate his application has been sent to district so good luck Tom. Joan, Roni and I attended the Rotary Club of Canberra Easts meeting on Monday night. We were presented with a very generous cheque for the contribution we made to selling Gnomes at Floriade this year. I know how much everyone enjoys this event, and I am sure we will continue our support in 2013. Photos from the night are to come. Should anyone be interested in joining the Gnomes at Floriade 2013 committee, please contact Genevieve to express your interest. We are waiting to hear back from council as to when the Relay for Life can have its info stall at the Sunset markets unfortunately last Friday was cancelled due to the poor weather. If/when rescheduled we will still need volunteers to help. If you check out the upcoming calendar, you will see the silly season has arrived and lots of things are on. Should you wish to attend our Christmas Party on Sunday 9 December, please RSVP to Joan ASAP and be sure to include which main you would like for lunch. Rotary is Rot-a-awesome Natalie

Here is an opportunity for Rotarians to travel to Indiana USA with Rotary Friendship Exchange:

As you know, D9710 Rotary Friendship Exchange group will be hosting a group of 10 to 12 Rotarians from D6540 Indiana USA after the International Conference in Sydney in June 2014. They would like our district to visit them in 2013. I am urgently seeking the names of any Rotarians who are interested in travelling to US next year, preferably late August to early September. The exchange involves travelling to Indiana at own cost where the Rotarians will then host our group for 2 weeks in home hosting arrangements with lots of sightseeing etc as well as attending some Rotary meetings. Most people would make the trip as part of a longer trip, perhaps to the US. Please send names and contact details to rossp@iken.com.au or 0408628935 as soon as possible. Many thanks Ross Power, D9710 Chairman Rotary Friendship Exchange

We are excited to announce that Canberra Blood Donor Centre will shortly undergo extensive refurbishments. The centres makeover will include an improved layout, new-look interior, redesigned reception and refreshment area, as well as additional plasma machines to better cater for an increased numbers of donors. While the renovations are taking place, the centre will be closed from: Friday 16 November to Monday 26 November inclusive. The Donor Mobile Unit will be located in the donor centre car park during this period to collect whole blood donations. Unfortunately there will be no capacity to collect plasma or platelet donations during this time. The centre will reopen on Tuesday 27 November, 2012. We look forward to welcoming you then. Yours sincerely Chris Lewis Donor Centre Manager

Breast and gynaecological cancers unfortunately touch everyones life in one form or another, either directly or through the experience of family and friends. The money you raise will help Cancer Council fight cancer through prevention programs, support services and world-class cancer research. There are many ways your money can help and even the smallest amount will make a difference: $5 can go towards producing a meditation DVD to help a woman deal with the agony of chemotherapy. $10 helps pay for an Information Pack for women to cope with the aftermath of surgery. $45 can help fund a Cancer Council Helpline call, that can inform and reassure a woman about her breast cancer diagnosis. $50 can help fund 1 hour of research into a rare type of breast cancer. $100 can go towards accommodation for women who need to stay away from home while accessing treatment. http://pinkribbonday.com.au
