Matthew Weaver and Friends Concert and CD Release Party Live at RPL
Join us for a free concert featuring Matthew Weaver with Paul Hill, Trevor Mckenzie and Darrell Connor, on Thursday, December 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the Stanback Auditorium at RPL Headquarters in Salisbury. Matthew will also release his new CD and DVD, Matthew Weaver & Friends Live in Salisbury, at a release party before the concert, from 5:00-7:00 p.m., also at RPL Headquarters. During the party, he will be signing CDs and DVDS, which will be a va i l a b l e to purchase. Join us for this free evening of great music!

Reading with RPL and Ringling Bros.


The circus is coming to town! And now Rowan Public Library can help you get there. Through January 11, children ages 2-12 will earn a free ticket to the Ringling Bros Circus in Charlotte by reading and reporting on five books. Each child is eligible for one free ticket. Bros. Reward Club Report and bookmark. After all five book reports are submitted to library staff, a voucher is issued for a free childrens circus ticket. Parents need to purchase one adult circus ticket to redeem the voucher. Adults can redeem up to three free childrens vouchers for every one adult ticket purchased. Tickets may be purchased and vouchers redeemed beginning December 7th through February 3rd at the Time Warner Cable Arena box office in Charlotte. Supplies are limited and vouchers cannot be honored if the show sells out. The circus performances dates are January 30-Februrary 3, 2013. Sign up today and get reading with Ringling Bros. and RPL! Film, TV Star Sidney Blackmer Honored with Display and Film Festival at RPL
A display of photos, movie posters and other memorabilia of Salisbury native and actor Sidney Blackmer is on exhibit at the Headquarters library. This display will remain in place until the end of the year. The display area in the connecting building between the main library and the meeting rooms as well as the cabinets on either side of the Fisher Street entrance contain items to be viewed.

Mia Farrow with Mr. Blackmer The last installment of our Blackmer Film Festival will be on Sunday, Dec. 2, at 3:00 pm in the Stanback Auditorium. Our first work will be a short featuring Suzanne Kaaren Blackmer, Sidneys wife, followed by an episode from the Boris Karloff television Thriller series called Premature Burial. Our closing movie will be of Blackmers final and best remembered film, Rosemarys Baby. This film is rated R, anyone under 17 must be accompanied by a parent. Those films not rated R will be added to the library collection for patrons to check-out after the festival.
