Observations: Been active for around 12 years Body language of the teachers is always open and never in a bad mood Always shows a positive expression Kids respond to her reading in a positive way when shes engaging and showing pictures She pans the picture around to make sure that all kids can see the picture and gives them enough time to look at the picture and process Teachers all dress in appropriate clothing, dressy but not too dressy. Ladies dress in clothes that are nonrevealing and little to no heal on the shoe. Located off a main road, has a carpool lane for drop off and a separate one for buses. They have teachers set up outside helping kids get out of their car and talking to the parents when they drop off their kid Building blocks in the corner A table set up for eating and doing artwork activities Bathroom is located outside the classroom right next to the door Coatrack is in the corner Books are in the corner on a shelf combined with pencil and paper A set up is in the corner of when the teacher reads to the kids A mat is set down for the kids for when they get read too When learning how to write they use a pencil and paper. Teacher seems to be encouraging if the child gets frustrated. One kid throws a tantrum about how he is too bored and goes in the corner for time out Teacher then proceeds to talk to the kid and makes them apologize and realize what they did wrong by throwing the tantrum The kid then proceeds back to the table to keep learning while the teacher is still encouraging. Seems like you have to be really patient to keep the kids in line and keep yourself sane in a way.

Kids socialize in small groups during recess while teachers stand around and observe them About 5 teachers are outside when watching the kids during recess Kids all seem to be enjoying themselves while teachers watch and all socialize and talk about their day. Every time when leaving recess they line up in order of last name and walk back in a structured way. Kids dont get to go inside until they are all in line Every time right after recess they have snack time Teacher gives them all the option of what they want and the majority wins. They then all get the same amount of food equally and all have a plate, napkin, and a fork. After they are done the teacher walks them all to the bathroom to go pee and makes them all wash their hands They all love hands on activities but teachers always make sure they have structure and teachers are always in control it seems They dont let the classroom get to rowdy due to wanting to keep the kids in control and to make sure they keep respect Teachers are constantly walking around the room to make sure everyone is doing what there doing (usually the teacher aid in the room) The main teacher shows way more authority than the teacher aid. The kids all seem to know which one is in more control as well Timmy gets frustrated when writing letters on the paper and the teacher keeps encouraging and helping there hand coordination by tracing with them to help learn the motion of the letter School has posters up all around with encouraging statements and engaging pictures Kids receive peanut butter crackers if they arent allergic and teachers all make sure they arent allergic if they do receive them. Some kids bring their own snacks from home that their moms pack. Most have sandwiches and chips and cookies Teachers just stand around and watch while they eat. Most kids learn to write with a regular pencil, not mechanical Teachers then make the kids learn in pen so its permanent when they get better so it forces them to do it right more

It is the most rewarding thing you can do because you can watch a child change over the years. Watching them change gives you the reward that you might of impacted the rest of their life in a positive way. 4. What do you recommend to upcoming preschool teachers? What I recommend most is learning how to be patient because each child is different.
