My request to all the teachers to help me analyze a teacher who had ten years of experience in teaching. As soon as she reached her class she read aloud the chapter on solar system from the textbook. Then instructed the children to read aloud all the paragraphs by turn. Students followed her instructions well. At the end of the lesson Rajesh stood up and said loudly that he had read newspaper reports that a new planet has been discovered. What a ridiculous idea this boy has! Always tries to show off!! The teacher thought and told him sternly to stick to what is given in the textbook. A new student who joined from Mumbai asked lot of questions related to the subject and some of them were not really relevant. The teacher got slightly furious and without paying any attention started with the usual procedure of making children mark the answers to the questions given at the end of the chapter. She asked the students to copy it in their notebooks. Later while correcting the answers she found that a student had written an answer in her own words. She got irritated with the fact, as she firmly believes that if children want full marks, they have to write the answers perfectly as she has made them write in their notebooks. The bell rang so the students were asked to complete the question answers at home and submit the notebooks the next day and also learn the lesson. A student came with some doubts but the teacher told him that she is busy and he should come only in the next class. The importance of this above case study is because as a child I lost interest in Science after this episode of my life. Yes! She was my science teacher when I was in class VI. When recalling our own schooling, we tend to remember the best and the worst of our teachers and the impact these teachers have in our lives. I strongly believe that we like the subject only because we love the teacher.

The creative mind can spot wrong answers but it takes a very creative mind to spot wrong questions The most exciting aspect of teaching is that it is a creative outlet. You cannot make a difference in the lives of your students until you make a difference in your own. If you urge to teach, you must never cease to learn Teaching is not a job. It is not a vocation. The capacity to transmit knowledge and skills demands dedication of a very high order. Education is no longer chalk and talk method of learning where teacher is the sage on the stage. Today education is student centric where the teacher is the facilitator in the process of learning, which is practical in her approach and global in her trend. Some attributes of an effective teacher: Knowledge of self Knowledge of the subject Attitude of the teacher should be Proactive Reflective practitioner Ability to achieve learning goals through planning Interactive with the students Creative and supportive classroom environment Professional development/growth oriented encounter of the student To create a environment for moulding their students into a cohesive and supportive learning community, teachers need to display personal Attributes that will make them effective role models. A cheerful disposition, friendliness, emotional, maturity, sincerity and caring about students as individuals as well as learners. The teacher must understand that every student have different ability. The old notion of intelligence has now given way to Multiple Intelligence. An effective teacher has a systematic program to assess their own efforts and to make appropriate changes rather than to hold students responsible for their bad result.

Well wont you sit back & listen to our song, its about education and it wont take long We read we learn about a paradigm shift, we think how to give teaching a lift So lets all get going towards Accelerate Learning, where teacher & student learn with a yearning. There are many ways if we love to teach, & enhance the learning of all those we reach. Well march to the tune of left & right, our brain does a lot though its out of sight We will use the senses all of five, each one is a gift makes learning come alive! Well remember to play and its good to laugh, fond memories of the lesson will forever last So willingly they will race to learn, with open mind learning is more fun So well just have fun & let wisdom set in, what a wonderful state for a student to be in.
