After the IBM "Drive By Shooting" of Kasparov by their DEEP BLUE custom proprietary chess supercomputer in 1997, Broadside Chess is designed to put DEEP BLUE under the Blue Sea, and into the Deep, with IBM back to making International Business Machines. The display of tyrannical no class brute force computing, with a human conspiracy including word game playing rule rigging by IBM, was horrifying and shameful to watch. The denial of rematch by IBM was disgusting, abominable, and weak. IBM is so good at word game playing rule rigging, they went on to play Jeopardy, and decided to leave Chess in the history books. Http://www.broadsidechess.com is designed to compete with all the supercomputers combined on planet earth, against one man. IBM, I am calling you out!!! Determinate, synchronous, and repeatable with no randomness. Unlimited interpretation of very simple boundary rules that are designed with the intent of supporting current rules centuries old of Chess, and must be strictly observed. Full strategic, navigation, firing solution, and targeting analysis support computers of any size, number, and capacity are allowed for the human. Most of these are already installed in almost all computer Chess programs. Supercomputers of unlimited size, number, or dimension are allowed to compete with no human contact or communication of any kind for any reason after the start of a Chess match from beginning to end no matter how many games occur, or how long. The foundation of 8X8 squares totaling 64 squares on one board of a legacy Chess board, is increased to 8X8 boards for a total of 64 squares by 64 squares totaling 4,096 squares per Chess board. A maximum total of 64 Chess boards with 4,096 squares each is stacked on top of each other from 0 - 63 for a maximum of 262,144 squares total. The foundation pieces are viewed horizontally extending the legacy layout to include the other 7 boards complete white pieces in line for a total of 8 complete sets of white pieces per horizontal row. All four horizontal rows of white include the white legacy positions for a total of 32 complete sets of white pieces including the 32 kings. 512 white pieces total. The black pieces are symmetrical on the black four rows to include a total of 32 complete sets of black pieces including the 32 kings. 512 black pieces total. Starting position of 1,024, or 32 legacy sets per each board.

Page 1 of 4 Run-003 December 23, 2012

Anywhere between 1 to 64 total boards with 1,024 starting pieces each for a total of 65,536 starting pieces are possible. At this time any piece can be vertically moved to any one of 64 possible boards only if all vertical squares of that specific piece in-between boards are clear of any white or black piece. There is a delay factor including a specific number of moves that must be observed per piece as to how many boards jumped. The more boards jumped, the longer the penalty. At this time each jumped piece must remain on the jumped to board for at least one move per jumped board. A maximum jump of 63 boards will result in that piece remaining on that board for at least 63 turns, whether or not piece is moved during turns. Also a jump of one board will result in a minimum stay for one turn, whether or not piece is moved during turns. The pieces can be colored, or gray scaled to indicate the specific mandatory stay on that specific board. The legacy rule of one single move alternating between black and white pieces is modified to adjust for the number of kings per board. Anywhere from 0 to 32 single piece single moves per board alternating between black and white pieces are now possible. Zero moves is necessary to support future jump possibilities without unnecessary dancing of pieces. A possible move total per player at one time is 0 - 2,048 with 32 moves per each 64 boards. Any single piece can only be moved once, or jump once per turn. The same legacy rules of traditional Chess apply, modified only to support the increase in number of pieces with a possible third dimension. The elimination of all kings determines the winner. Supercomputer competitions will only occur with 64 complete boards of 262,144 total squares, and 65,536 pieces of black and white. December 15, 2012 James Lee McDaniel email@broadsidechess.com

Four 8k UHDTV workstation display panels are used for overview status monitoring. Each 8K UHDTV provides 7680 X 4320 pixels where almost every picture element is required. Sixty four conventional HDTV monitors will be required to achieve the same number of active pixels. The 8k UHDTV displays are physically rotated 90 degrees as shown in the following graphic. This will only provide the current year 2012 pixel display quality for each single game board of 64 X 64 squares having only 480 vertical pixels available, at 16 boards per 8k UHDTV display.

COURSAYRE Processor Element

More than ninety nine percent of new computers on planet earth in 2013 are microprocessor based, including many supercomputers. Many different and varied hardware implementations of bit length, microcode, and published to the public instruction sets. These are laid out on silicon wafers, and with cookie-cutter stamped mass production manufacturing create common hardware platforms for the creation of a large software market. There are only a few different cookie-cutter realities that own a serious market share. Large investment monies are typically concentrated on these few cookie-cutter combinations. This is the formula for the current Irish Potato Famine of cookie-cutter computer architectures we now live in. The real economic problem is that any original work created with, on, or for any or all of these cookie-cutter realities, even with clusters of hundreds networked together, can be reversed engineered. This is economically desirable because the possible decades of Research & Development are not required with only a few months of literal thievery by reverse engineering. A competing product can be launched against the reverse engineered product at much lower profit margins because the decades of Research & Development were not invested in, or required. Even with existing Patent Law, it is up to the victim of reverse engineering, or plain criminal theft, to discover the criminal, prove the criminality in a court of law, and finance the entire legal process for a minimum of years, leading to decades of litigation. A minimum cost of millions of dollars, with the very real possibility of losing everything after decades of work. The COURSAYRE Processor Element is designed explicitly to defeat reverse engineering by anyone, and anywhere on planet earth. Including supercomputers with hundreds of thousands of processors, with hundreds of thousands of accelerators. Even all the supercomputers combined on planet earth 100 years from now. It is designed to allow sensitive concepts to be mass produced, with complete security of function, even while being reverse engineered live.

Broadside Chess located at http://www.broadsidechess.com is a test target for the COURSAYRE Processor Element located at http://www.coursayre.com. The Automatic Autonomous Equation Generator (AAEG) is required to eliminate the required millions of lines of code of a typical scheduled list of instructions necessary for micro coded instruction sets of most microprocessors, large or small, RISC or CISC. Reduced Instruction Set Computing (RISC) was an attempt to relieve that burden that has improved if anything, only relative to Complex Instruction Set Computing (CISC). The concept of an instruction in computer architecture is based on the physics of long ago, and far, far away. The original electronic physical components, beginning with tubes, replaced by transistors, migrating into integrated silicon semiconductor circuits called integrated circuits, now complete integration onto one silicon device, and now being multiplied on one silicon device or module into multiple cores. Each core has roots beginning back to the tubes. More of the same, cookie cutter realities stamped out at a level of physics that has never before been possible on planet earth. A one quarter inch bolt manufactured 100 years ago, is almost exactly the same as a one quarter inch bolt manufactured today. A brand new computer manufactured 3 years ago will not be able to run new programs, or operating systems to full potential, and very usage is questionable. The continued cookie cutter reality does have very serious security vulnerabilities, that are exploited at will by criminals, trans national corporations, and different countries around planet earth. The COURSAYRE Processor Element is an affordable solution to criminal intentions, and concept theft, designed as a complete manufacturing solution, from unsecured low level machine control, motion control, and digital image analysis on the factory floor to secured Research & Development product creation with secured mass production of operational concepts. The archaic concept of a machine instruction in computers is completely destroyed by the COURSAYRE Processor Element. The very reason to be limited by an instruction based computer architecture has been eliminated. The separation of hardware and software no longer exist. The negative description of the COURSAYRE Processor Element by what it is not, is simply because what it is, changes thousands of times a second, at will, and autonomously. This is by design, and a major feature of a live secure processor that can not be reverse engineered. Once the "product ship" sets sail from the Research & Development labs, every single mass produced product is on a unique course of infinite variety that uniquely changes thousands of times every second. Of course the rate of change is limited to the hardware available, and it is always aware of integrity breach. This will allow the creation of original concepts, and for the first time protect them from reverse engineering of any kind. No Patents are required, or thousands of Patents will be required every second for each and every product manufactured that creates its own reality continuously forever.

2 of NN January 07, 2013 Run-002

The uniqueness of a serial number in mass production can now be associated with each and every individual product unit mass produced in any quantity forever. The cosmic numerical possibility of any major reverse engineering effort ever breaching the integrity of any single machine action, will not help in the breaching of any other machine action in any product model, or even any different machine operation changing thousands of times a second on that specific individual product unit. The customer of the COURSAYRE Processor Element is given an assembler, cross compiler that runs AAEG "open source code" generated by them for use in their product. The humans are in control of the process results at this R&D phase, however the source code is being rewritten by the COURSAYRE Processor Element where the end results are the same, however the process is isolated with no evidence of the original source code remaining. Agreements and disagreements with the original source code creators can be corrected at this time. Even though the original source code is being rewritten protecting the linkage of creation and process, the process is still vulnerable to reverse engineering, even though it is isolated from the original source code. Physical security is still required at this stage of R&D development. When the product is ready for manufacture, a custom COURSAYRE Processor Element software overlay is generated specifically for that customer. This will convert the AAEG "open source code" and computer hardware architecture into a hardened architecture that can not be reverse engineered. All source code is physically de-assembled by the customer so no knowledge of it will exist outside of the minds of the people involved. This will protect against future extortion by criminals. The product can now be mass produced in the millions by simple binary replication. While patching a product after it is mass produced is not possible, complete new versions are easily installed in the field, and retention of many variables are possible. Any updates, improvements, or changes can be regenerated the same way the original was created by the same people. The disassembly of source code is necessary to prevent any possible future reverse engineering, internet publication, and physical threats against people involved. Many different "water marks","controlled reports", and Global Positioning Satellite serial numbers are included into every custom generated overlay for every customer product. This will help to prove binary theft from competition, and even remote control shutdown of stolen products, helping in the criminal prosecution. The COURSAYRE Processor Element will stop reverse engineering of any kind, and force criminals into extortion or force to obtain the source code. It is important to publish the fact, and make sure that all source code components have been disconnected from the creation process. The opposite would be to publish the source code on the internet, along with the hardware designs, allowing anyone controlling access to everything. The COURSAYRE Processor Element is currently in experimental development of the Automatic Autonomous Equation Generator (AAEG) that will convert simple concepts into a self destructing code source that means no human ever had contact with any original source code. A similar Research & Development phase allows changes until ready for manufacturing. This is required to protect the hardware and software, along with the humans involved in the creation.

3 of NN January 07, 2013 Run-002

When a personal computer is physically stolen, all data is vulnerable to immediate reverse engineering, and decryption if that is even required. Passwords and access codes are typically stored on the personal computer for automatic use on the internet storage servers, or cloud storage. Complete coded access is now available to all remote storage also. They are typically scanned for valuable data, and some have very valuable data lost forever to their owners, and creators. The valuable data is copied and stored, so that the personal computer can be reprogrammed, or sold. When a COURSAYRE Processor Element product is stolen, it will still function as designed, however no useful interrogation, access to data, or reverse engineering of any kind is possible. The integrity of data is secured, and any possible change in the program data of any kind, will result in a hardware fault. A literal digital binary copy can be made, however no control or change in the program or data is possible. A remote control of the stolen product is possible.

Theory of Operation
A Binary Digit is a bit. Numerical base two is a zero, or one in numerical and electrical terms. It is very effective in electronics because of the electrical noise margin afforded by the threshold value between the voltage rails of zero and one representatives. Electrically the values of zero and one are complete ranges of different voltages with a threshold gap in-between. Every single bit added to previous bits, will double the previous combined bit numerical value representation. Numerical base ten, and numerical base two are completely different, and humans currently live in a numerical base ten reality. Computers live in a numerical base two reality. The vast majority of humans alive today view personal computers as a condensed version of all computers architectures of decades ago, miniaturized, condensed, and optimized in terms of price and performance for the low cost consumer electronics version they physically posses. Laptops, cell phones, tablets, and gadgets almost everywhere now have microprocessors in them, A yet smaller version of the same technological funnel that magically never seems to end. When the reduction in physical dimensions with lower price and performance is so great that it begins to question any real value other than a picture phone walkie talkie, an internet link appears that offers direct access to the "CLOUD", that with many small incremental dollar payments every year will return you to your previous desktop personal computer capability, with even more larger scale resources. This cookie cutter reality is stamped out with mass production in the hundreds of million units every year, including cell phones that are close to one thousand million units every year, on a planet with only seven thousand million humans. This is the Irish Potato Famine on steroids. Any original thought is almost instantly trampled to death by a stampede of consigned acceptance, forced comparability, and very real threat to the very existence of commonality that is economically required to support this cookie cutter manufacturing miracle.

COURSAYRE Processor Element verses the Titan Supercomputer

The crowning glory, and motherhood of all cookie cutter reality is the Titan Supercomputer. Made with cookie cutter components in the hundreds of thousands, it stands as the pyramid of raw numerical mass production manufacturing economics in 2013. Both the COURSAYRE Processor Element, and the Titan Supercomputer are the opposite ends, and a direct result of this cookie cutter manufacturing reality. The COURSAYRE Processor Element will drop the Titan Supercomputer to its "knees" as will be described. The manufacturing very real consequences of this cookie cutter reality we now live in is NO less than a violent tyranny of compliance, almost unlimited standards that require tens of thousands of dollars each to join their club and be able to even read and comply to all their mystery standards, with forced regulations including certifications costing tens and hundreds of thousands of dollars each. The United States of America consumer electronic manufacturing was sent away and destroyed by the insatiable greed with avarice of humans chasing low cost labor wages, complete destruction of labor unions fighting for a living wage, "white collar" employees trained in engineering making executive equivalent salaries above living wages, and elimination of taxes paid to the United States of America. Almost all the monies paid to humans in the United States of America for living wages or better, can now be put directly into the pockets of the very humans in control making the decision to leave the United States of America for manufacturing. The requirement of low cost labor needed or desired for any low cost consumer electronic manufacturing has been proven to be a LIE of Criminal Intention, when in 1984 by Japan with one hundred percent robotic manufacturing of VCR tape machines. Also Benetton of Italy textile manufacturing already in production from order placed, to sweaters of any color combination manufactured, to boxed and shipped by one hundred percent robotic manufacturing in 1984. A false LIE with Criminal Intention economy has been created by this cookie cutter reality that has machines designed and built from all over the planet earth are combined into a typical average consumer electronic printed circuit board assembly line for true mass production, in the area of beginning at four thousands circuit boards completed in twenty four hours every day, of every year. The typical average assembly line cost is about two million dollars each. Typically multiple two million dollar assembly lines are required for any successful consumer electronic product. The reason for the expensive machines is that it does not matter what they cost, they will pay for themselves, it is just a matter of when. The problem begins when a start up company begins to manufacture, and does not have the tens of millions of dollars required to build the assembly lines required. There are smaller machines that with a linear degradation in price and performance, will produce less for less at hundreds of thousands of dollars instead of two million dollars each. The sacrifice of hundreds of thousands of dollars will be required to move up to real two million dollar machines. Meanwhile the demand for your consumer electronic product is not meet with supply, and many competitors are busy filling the gap for you.

5 of NN January 07, 2013 Run-002

The immediate alternative is to send United States of America manufacturing out of this country, or use foreign manufacturing flying their flags in this country. Only if you can afford a minimum order, or you are sent to Mexico, and it is called North American Manufacturing. This is the beginning of the tyranny of a cookie cutter manufactured reality. Unless you have tens and hundreds of millions of dollars, there is no way to get from here to there, or get started, unless you are already finished. Only then will you be allowed to begin. The many years and possible decades of hard work to build an equivalent process from scratch, will leave you vulnerable to the LIES and Felony Perjury with Criminal Intention by enemies of political and economic station, rapidly changing technologies that require more money every year to comply with new standards including personal computers, and changing components used for the product being manufactured. The COURSAYRE Processor Element is the answer to breaking the total domination of the cookie cutter reality enforced by the LIES and Felony Perjury with Criminal Intention from enemies of political and economic station. While many components are the direct result of a cookie cutter manufacturing realty, the computer architecture concept is not compatible in any way, shape, or form with existing micro code instruction set based microcomputer based computer architecture of any, or all consumer electronics cookie cutter based manufactured computers. These electronic components are wired in a very different way, and are immune to the Irish Potato Famine vulnerability of the cookie cutter manufacturing reality we all live in now. The vast majority of electronic components used cost less than one cent each, and the major semiconductor components are only a few tens of dollars each in low quantities. They will drop significantly in true mass production. This low cost of electronic components support the ability to scale practical operation down below any single Titan Supercomputer core, and scale up to or beyond Titan Supercomputer brute force reality. The COURSAYRE Processor Element allows the creation of two million dollar printed circuit board assembly lines for thirty times less dollar cost each, with performance of direct equivalency or better. This is not thirty percent, it is thirty complete assembly lines for the cost of one two million dollar cookie cutter manufacturing reality. While it is easier to have large scale funding to work with, it is more powerful not to need large scale funding up front. Then rapidly overnight scale up to required capability heading toward real mass production without over reaching long term risk, and no more expensive than having foreign entities make all the monetary profits, instead of the source of the Research & Development. It will also scale down to below direct equivalency in speed of one two million dollar printed circuit board machine while maintaining complete quality, and allow normal human beings on planet earth to afford their own printed circuit board manufacturing that will run automatically twenty four hours every day to compete with invested manufactures anywhere on planet earth. Possibly for less than having the boards manufactured by foreign entities, retaining the same machines that are used in scaling up production overnight for increased demand of the product being manufactured.

6 of NN January 07, 2013 Run-002

Low cost with high performance IS the signature of cookie cutter manufactured realities. Originality of computer architecture is NOT. Originality of computer architecture is the essence of the COURSAYRE Processor Element, and is not even possible by its very definition in the Titan Supercomputer. A quick overview of the Titan Supercomputer is that it uses AMD Opteron CPUs along with Nvidia Tesla GPUs. 18,688 CPUs and 18,688 GPUs. Each AMD Opteron 6274 has 16-core CPUs each. 18,688 CPUs with 16 cores each is 299,008 individual cores. Every single core is 64 bits each. This is one of the premiere applications of Brute Force Computing on planet earth. The Titan Supercomputer is one single 64 bit computer architecture ONLY. The primary CPU or GPU processors are a maximum of 64 bits each. They are both hard wired in silicon to only ever be 64 bit computer architectures. It will never change, It can never change. It is simply repeated over, and over. For example ,two 64 bit computer architectures working together are not the same as one 128 computer architecture. It is simply two separate 64 bit core units working synchronously together, or asynchronously independently. The COURSAYRE Processor Element starts with a 64 bit computer architecture, UNLIMITED in its ability to scale up. The secure processor starts at 640 bit, with good reasons to increase up to 4,096 bit, and 65,536 bit computer architectures.

FLOP Floating Point Operations Per second

Long ago and far, far away, there was a good reason to have floating point. The agreed upon standard is the IEEE 754. It allows computer architectures with limited resources to work with very large numbers that are beyond the computer architecture bit capacity. The nature of a floating point is to achieve a lossy bit compression system by storing only the most significant bits possible, and actually discarding the least significant bits. The trade off for working with numbers beyond the computer architecture bit capacity, is the dropping of potentially vital details, deemed to be insignificant by themselves. Ironically the enormous quantity and speed of calculations achieve a very significant accumulated error, demonstrated in many serious long term practical application failures over the decades of usage. This has the very serious consequence of destroying the integrity of many long term numerical modeling simulations. The once good reason for having floating point has been miniaturized along with all the other once good reasons for archaic computer architectures, into thousands of once huge data centers onto a single module. Much, much more of the same old thing, over, and over again with the excuse of using legacy software with less expensive hardware. The COURSAYRE Processor Element does not require Floating Point Operations, and typically operates beyond the range of IEEE 754 double precision numerical capacity of the Titan Supercomputer

The COURSAYRE Processor Element Advantage

The COURSAYRE Processor Element is designed to set sail on the legacy cookie cutter manufacturing reality, with new solutions to new problems not possible with simple Brute Force multiplication of once necessary computer architectures. Single COURSAYRE Processor Elements are used in small low cost unsecured applications such as motion control, digital image analysis, motor control, and remote factory floor robotic manufacturing. Multiple COURSAYRE Processor Elements are combined in 64 bit increments to start with 640 bit low cost secure computer architectures for consumer electronic products, 4,096 bit secure computer architectures for more advanced industrial analysis, and 65,536 bit secure computer architectures for new products that have not been announced yet. The Titan Supercomputer 64 bit computer architecture can be used to simulate any bit length computer architecture, with a very, very serious loss of performance. The simulation will require many, many computer cycles of work to align, distribute, analyze, function, and everything required to exceed the 64 bit limitation. The consequence will ultimately depend on the number of 64 bit increments with a minimum of hundreds of 64 bit cycles to a minimum of thousands of 64 bit cycles required for each and every minimum 640 bit COURSAYRE Processor Element cycle for consumer electronic products. The raw frequency and performance of the 64 bit architecture running at around 2,500 million cycles per second is now being divided by possibly thousands to a horrible 2.5 million instructions per second per core or less. The 65,536 bit COURSAYRE Processor Element will require the Titan Supercomputer 64 bit computer architecture cores to be divided possibly into the millions or possibly billions per each and every simulated cycle. This will convert 2,500 million cycles per second native Titan Supercomputer core divided by millions into possibly only 2,500 cycles per second per core or even possibly much less. With the division of billions, it could render the Titan Supercomputer output of each core to less than one single instruction per second. The 65,536 bit COURSAYRE Processor Element will be used in the soon to be announced Cargo Bit product. http://www.cargobit.com It will cost much less than the 93 million dollar published price of the Titan Supercomputer, and require much less than the 8.2 mega watts of power.

Quick History
After a successful demonstration of storing 100 million bytes of binary storage onto an audio cassette tape in 1982-1983, we began to raise funding for that product. It was determined that the market for digital data transmission over phone lines called modems, (modulator demodulator) would be a better application. The digital signal processing of the cassette storage system did greatly improve the performance over the very electrical noisy, and expensive long distance phone calls. Long distance phone calls were very, very expensive, often with very poor acoustic quality, and a very limited frequency range. The fastest modem available at the time for computer telecommunications about 1983 was 9,600 bits per second over a leased line. I invented a modem that would transmit 6 times 9,600 bits per second, or similar to what is now called the 56K modem. The current 56K modem was developed a full fourteen years or so later using digital signal processing only, and involves a very different design compared to what I was doing in 1983-1984. This was possible 14 years later because of the many improvements over the Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN) greatly improving the signal to noise ratio. I do not believe that the current 56K modem would have worked on the 1983 PSTN signal to noise ratio, especially over long distance. Because of the very poor analog network signal quality of the PSTN at the time, my digital signal processing would only improve the bits per second less than I wanted. A very extensive digital computer architecture was designed not only for the digital signal processing, it was also required for the lossless digital compression system. I did design a supercomputer architecture in 1984 called the 100 for 100 Million 64 bit Floating Point Operations Per second (MFLOPS). This supercomputer architecture was then used in a reduced optimized physical package for the 6 X 9600 bits per second modem. When I designed my first supercomputer architecture in 1984, the CRAY was in the neighborhood of about 100 Million Floating Point Operations per second. A few Large Main Frames were running about 8 Million Instructions per second at the time. The physical dimensions of the 6 X 9600 bits per second modem were that of a very large microwave oven costing about $6,000.00 each with a minimum of two units required at two different locations. (Please see the attached copy) That was economically practical to large banks at the time because of the very expense cost of long distance phone calls. An agreement with the Union Planters Corporation was made on July 4, 1983 to begin develop the Ultra High Speed Modem (UHSM). A condominium was to be provided just down the street from the Union Planters Bank, and the very expensive Printed Circuit Board Computer Aided Design machine located in the condominium, where access by Union Planters Bank was possible. (Please see attached copy of letter received). The reasons for this agreement failing are well documented concerning previously agreed to rights concerning the equipment with ownership, and have nothing to do with the UHSM technology itself in any way, shape, or form, and other breached previous agreements. (Please see attached copy of letters) We then put together another group of people to Research & Develop the UHSM.

Manufacturing in the United States of America was not a foreign concept at that time, and we proceeded to purchase a required printed circuit board Computer Aided Design machine. The best unit available was Scicards out of New York. The current versions were about $500,000.00 with $250,000.00 in VAX 11780 hardware requiring a very large room, with about $250,000.00 in software. We went to a trade show, and the salesman said yes, they just came out with the ability to work with ECL on their new workstation that reduced cost to about $150,000.00. We ordered one and waited a few months for the workstation hardware to materialize. We went to the school at the business location in New York, and received a stack of manuals from the floor to almost the ceiling. My business partners from Colorado snow country did not mix well with the 3 piece suits of East Coast New York. After a few days of study by myself after school in the day and dinner at night, it did not appear that the software could work with ECL. I started to ask the teacher some difficult questions about working with ECL, and we were immediately sent to the head office. We were informed that they had called the FBI on us, because they thought we were secret agents from another country. I explained who I was and what I was doing, and they continued to ask me if I worked for Motorola over and over. I found out that they could work with ECL symbols and automatically drop load resistors in the schematic, however there was no intelligence as to transmission line theory whatsoever. I asked them while looking at their many, many programmers working away, if they could solve this problem for us. The formal response was that "You do not represent market share." We ended being escorted out of the building by the corporate attorney, and with a quick "Mexican stand off", received all of our money back from them. We called Bell Laboratories and asked them what they used when working with ECL, and we were told that they take this one million dollar machine, and connect it with that two million dollar machine, adding a couple more million dollar machines in the process. In my travels, I had come across the Zuken Corporation out of Japan. I knew that at that time every printed circuit board coming out of Japan, including SONY consumer electronics was using Zuken software. We flew out to San Hose, California and spoke with the representative. He informed me that they did not have the ability to work with ECL at that time, however they were willing to create solutions for me that would solve our problem of transmission line theory, surface area calculations, and microwave transitions. (Please see attached copy of fax sent to Japan) We purchased the Zuken PCB CAD. (Please see attached copy of invoice) I was using Fairchild Emitter Coupled Logic semiconductors that were military allocated at the time (see attached copy of first order). The received units were delivered to the wrong address by UPS, boxes were broken open as if they were thrown on the ground arriving on a Wells Cargo Stage Coach across a rocky desert, and the UPS man assured us that they treat each package as if it were $100.00 diamond ring. That delivery was something like $86,000.00 dollars scattered to the wind. We immediately forced the factory to use Federal Express from then onward, with no problems after that. It was a fortuitous sign of things to come, unfortunately.

Mr. William Matthews, Chairman Union Planters National Bank P. O. Box 387 Ivlemphis, Tennessee 38147 Re: Dear Mr. Matthews: This is the letter of intent about which vre spoke by phone. I have spoken with Jim and Jimmy McDaniel about the specifics of what we discussed, and they have approved this letter. A corporation would be formed, with Jimmy McDaniel owning percent of the stock, and you owning the other fifty. fifty Capitatization would be minimal. Jimmy would be employed by the corporation to work on a project for development of the modem/high speed data concentrator, which $re have ref erred to as the first level. The corporation would obtain the proprietary rights in the product developed. You would provide a condominium in which Jimmy would live and'work, with the thought that the space would be sufficient for this project. We have estimated 2000 square feet would be appropriate initially. You would provide funds in an amount which is reasonable for the proper and efficient development of this project in the form of loans to the corporation. These funds will be used to pay for operating expenses, as well as necessary equipment and supplies. Aithough we did not discuss this pcint, s i n c e y o u w o u L d h a r . r ea n positionr equity w would think that these loans should be without interest. Because of the debt-equity rules, you may face dividend treatmenL at the repayment of these loans out of the corporation's earnings and profits, but my initial reaction is that this renains the most practical the way to capitalize given the situations corporation and fund its operations, of the par t i es . I f your tax counsel has another approach , hre would be glad to discuss it. Jimmy would be provided loans advanced by you against future earnings in the amount of $2r000 per month for living expenses. This would be repaid on a reasonable schedule out of his salary when the corporation is in a position to provide him a salary out of earnings. I would think that the only reasonable approach to Letter of Intent .]rmmv UcOaniel

iam Matthews 1983 this, given Jimmyrs present financial situation, is to make such advances non-refundable in the unlikely event that future earnings should be insufficient to allow a pay back. Jimmy would also be provided a Volkswagen GTI Rabbit a u t o m o b i l e f o r h i s u s e d u r i n g h i s e m p l o y m e n tb y t h e c o r p o r a t i o n . Production and marketing of products developed out of this project would be accomplished through the corporatiorlr whether directly or by contracting out or other appropriate agreements with third par_ties. The two other projects, or leve1s, are the development of a high-speed computer and the development of a data compression s y s t e m t o e n h a n c e m e m o r yc a p a c i t y . The corporation would have a right of first refusal for participation in those projects in return for providing reasonable funding for development of those Projects and reasonable compensation to Jimmy McDaniel for assigning his rights in those projects to the corporation. Since I talked with you, and as this matter has gotten closer to fruition, the McDaniels have realized that it would be financially difficult for them to fund a move of their househotd to Memphis. While this is a new matter, f would think it not outside the spirit of this agreement for them to be provided the funds for this. We do not have figures yet, but can get a guote from a moving companyto confirm the amount needed. ff you wish t o s p e a k w i t h t h e M c D a n i e 1 sd i r e c t l y a b o u t t h i s , p l e a s e d o s o . I think this covers the major points involved. This, of course, is a letter of intent onl-yr'and is subject to the negotiation and preparation of written agreements setting forth more fully and finally the particulars of this transaction.
It was nice to talk with you by phone. Si ncer ely , Best wishes.

Mr. Wiltiam Matthews, Chairman Union Planters National Bank P. O. Box 387 Dlemphis, Tennessee 38147 Re: Dear Mr. Matthews: This wiII confirm my phone conversation I{r. Ireland. In that conversation he stated position as followss 1. Jimmy would have a 30t equity developed. Mr. Ireland indicated that 2. pay for of August 26 with your present McDaniel

position in the product this may be negotiable.

You would pay for Jimmyfs move to Memphis, but would not the move of the remainder of the family to Memphis.

The Bank would want to have use of the modem for a 3. period of six months before placing it on the market for other users. However, at the time the Bank begins using the product, it will pay a fair market price for the product, with benefits accruing to Jimrny. 4. Jimmy would not be provided a car initially, but would be provided a car out of the earnings of the corporation, dt such time as there are earnings. Jimmy would have the use of 5. discussed previously. the condominium we have

Jimmy would be given a salary of $11000 per month in 6. addition to the use of the condominium, in lieu of the former proposal for him to have $21000 per month against future earnings. Jimmy would initially 7. would be loaned by Propsoft to proj ec t . become an employee of Propsoft and the corporation to work on the the Myr tle terms of with you

I have discussed this new proposal in detail with t{cDaniels . They f eel that an agreement was reached in Beach, and it was substantially in accordance with the my letter to you of July 14. They feel that they dealt

Mr. William Matthews August 31, 1983 Page Two

in good faith, and that their good faith to you was. very clear as far as they lrere concerned at all tirnes. As you realize, the new proposal is substantially at variance with the prior agreenent reached in Myrtle Beach. In response to your new proposal, the McDaniels will accept your provislon for moving only Jlnny to Menphis. Otherwise, they will not accept tnaterial terns of the agreenent that are different frotn the agreement as outlined in rny letter of July 14. I am Based on Bhat f have cone to understand about this project, sure that the McDaniels will be able to find an agreernent with another investor or institution in line with the agreenent they previously reached with you. hlgh speed in this because of the I. The ultra nodem is only possible from traditional methods, chat do not apply to the radlcal departure in thls nodem deslgn. combLnatlon of unlque concepts utillzed If traditLonal accepted methods lrere utillzed ln thls oodem design, per second, less faster the modem would only be slightly than 9,500 btts expensive, and very much l-ess deslrable. research Thls moden is the result of three years independent lnto random data cornpreselon, and low cost high super hlgh speed coopuLers, from the density dtgital recordlng for tape drives. The answers supplled for use in tesearch have been comblned to form a new code structure transmission and storage of raw binary ilata. The modem market has been chosen for luplernentation of the aew code structure because the performance lncrease is incredibly compared to any alranatlc, grade llnes. Although the transolaslon rate avallable for normal volce lncrease of data storage on a standard audLo cassette tape ls draoatLc, there are other means of nass data storage. There ls currently no way to per eecond on a volce grad.e transmic slx tLues ninety s1x hundred bits 1lne. 2. The tero "two wire'r wl11 be used ln thl-s paper to describe the two electrical wires utillzed, to make one normal voice grade llne. The tern wLre" wll1 be used to desctibe the fou! electrical wires used to "four aake tno normal volce grade Lines. Ilalf dupLex describes transmission in directLons, ttto but only one lray at a time. Ful1 duplex describes transDlsslon in both dlrectlons slnultaneously. ?he modem appears to the eud user as trro seperate devices contaLned in one phyelcal structure. This neans one fu11 duplex configuratLon is posslble and two half are possible. duplex configurations A dual half dupLex unit will transmlt tlrelve tlmes faster than nlnety six hundred per second moderns. A11 conblnatloos blt are end user deflned. 3. Thla moden ls deslgned for uae on normal uncondltloned volce grade l-lnes. The advantages are 1on coat, universal easy ava1Labl11ty, c'oopatablllty, and portability, conditioning is because no special requlred. The cooplexlty of thLs prolect 1e necesaary to offset the Llmitatlons contalned 1n a norual volce grade llne. The conplexity 1s project the najor !ea6on this has never been approached before. part of the new code 4. The data compression is a fundamental structure. Thls coopreasion syatem is pattern sensitive, however the six tines nloety slx hundred bit per second data rate, 1s a worst case flgure. Therefore the coopxegsLon systeE is not pattern sensitive to randorn data at the modems full rated speed. part of the new code atructure The data cipher 1s a fundanental and becomes beoeflcial to the end user in the form of security. ThLs clpher can be influenced by the end user to provide selective conpatablLity.

preaent The najority of all utillze analog 5. day rnodem cLrcuits slgna1 processing, vhich is a sinple way of doing sinple things. AnaLog possibllity sLgnal processing has been the only practical of designing a ooden clrcult. This fact of has been ellulnated lrlth the lntroductlon high speed, 10w cost, computers. digltal processlng provides Dlgital slgnal a reLative elmple way of doing dlfficuLt aoalysis. of analog processlng The f1exlblllty 1s extremely llnited, and there ls a J-arge perfornance and cost trade-off involved. Flexlbtllty processlog of digltal slgnal ls only llnlted to the speed cf proceEslng the computer used. ALso one dlgltal circuit slgnal can replace nany analog processLng circuLts. Thls fLexibility will a1low the modem to conpenaate for the nany problems involved ln transmlttlng dlgital data ove! a normal volce grade llne. Although dlgital eLgnal processlng ls essentlal to hlgh speed comnunlcatlons, lt 1s not a curreDt state of the art process. The hlstory proceaslng of known dlgltal slgnal began arith ITth and ISth century mathematl-ca. 6. Dtgltal slgnal reconstructlon is Lncl-uded to provide more rellability. The noden traneulssion structu!e ie progranmed to transmit bLocks of btts. If the checking aLgorithm determines that an error has occured lnside of a bl-ock of blts, dlgttal reconstruction slgnal is engaged. Error correctlon is used in digitel memory syatems is not that practical lt v111 in high speed modems, because lf an error is detected, be because of slgnal- dl6tortlon or complete slgnal destructlon. The bad slgnaL wlll not typlcally transnlt bi.t structure close the origf.nal enough to do corrections. The ouly possible a typical thing hlgh speed tradLtlonalmodem can do is order a retransmisslon of the b'ad block. This ie very tine coneuming and a complete negative effort. This nodeh not o!1y stores the blts inslde of a block, transmitted but it aLso atore6 the conpLete tranaoltted block signaJ". Therefore when an error is detected, the modem wilL contlnue to process the contlnuous transmlsalon, and not have to stop and order a retransmlsslon. The c'ompute! 1s fast and attempt enough to go back to the bad block signal reconatructLon. process Dlg1tal sLgnal reconstructlon is a mathenatlc that counter acts normal 1lne digturbances. If the signal was totalLy destroyed, euch as a direct llghtntng sttlke on the llnee, retransmission of that individual bad block will Up to ten. be ordered. bad block slgnals can be stored and operated on before a dLsruptlon in aervlce ls necessary. Thls is a1l- practlcal because the cooputer ls nLllLons of tlmes faster than a normal volce grade llne.

(PAGE 3 )

The hlgh speed of this 7. computer Is necessary to deal with the [any sloul"taneous events occuring during normal operatlons. The najorLty of calcul-ations w111 be processLng the mathematics that are necessary to achieve the ultra high speed of this nodem. This ls why an arlthmetlc processor processor is a better choice than a general- purpose central deslgn. The speed and power of the computer in this project is much greater purpose co[puters than many general costi.ng n'ore thafl three hundred thousand doLlars. proJecCs computer Ls posslble The 1ow cost of thls because it ls dedlcated to thls [odem, and noL for general purpose use. project 8. The complexlty of thls is nininlzed with large scale lntegrated circuits and large scale prograumable logic arrays. llany major functlons can be achieved rrlth the coobloation of a few large scale lntegrated circuits. I'lhere lt 1s economical, a large printed clrcult board full of lntegrated circuits can be reduced to one large scale programmabl-e loglc array. Thls 1s a rnalor considerati.on because the physical size of thls nodem is close to the size of a typical Eicrowave food processor.
Beeause the power , and flexibility 9. speed, of the arithmetic processor in this modem is so gr eat , the end u ser has the option of slmulating any modem designed for normal voice grade lines. Thls is deslrable because no current traditional modem has this capability, and the end user does not have to buy ten diff erent modems to be compatable wlt,h ten diff erent modems.

These w1l1 appear as future optlons that enhance the basic noden un1t. II. The realizatlon project of this 1s completely impractLcal wlthout the centrallzed, top down use of a Computer Aided Design nachLne. The hundreds of thousands of electrical lnterconnections. This o.eana that wtth a manuaL deslgn, a mlnor change means a major disaster. hlith a Computer Alded Design nachine, all interactlons are handl-ed automatlaally and the major disaster becomes a ninor change.
