CIRCULAR MOTION 1. A curve of 183m radius on a level road is banked at the correct angle for a velocity of 13.4m/s. If an automobile rounds this curve at 26.8m/s, what is the minimum coefficient of friction between the tires and road so that the automobile will not skid?

2. A ball is whirled at the end of cord 0.60m long in a vertical circle at the rate of 1.5rps. What is the tension in the cord when the ball is at the position given?

3. A satellite is said to be in geosynchronous orbit if it rotates around the earth once every day. For the earth, all satellites in geosynchronous orbit must rotate at a distance of 4.23107 meters from the earth's center. What is the magnitude of the acceleration felt by a geosynchronous satellite?

4. A 2 kg ball on a string is rotated about a circle of radius 10 m. The maximum tension allowed in the string is 50 N. What is the maximum speed of the ball?

5. A 2000-kg car rounds a circular turn of radius 20 m. If theroad is flat and the coefficient of friction between tires and road is0.70, how fast can the car go without skidding?

ROTATIONAL DYNAMICS 1. A diver whose weight is 735N is posed at the right and of a diving board, whose length is 3.00m. The board has negligible weight and is bolted down at the left end while being supported 1.20m away by a fulcrum. Determine the forces F1and F2that the bolt and the fulcrum, exerts on the board.
