Company history and legacy

Echelon Satellite Networks was founded in 2007 under sponsorship from West Asia Trading, a capital investment group specialised in Technology and Telecommunications Infrastructure Ventures, and established for over 20 years in Dubai, London and Singapore. Echelon Satellite Networks, or Echelon Satnet, is a company dedicated to the provision of tailor-made, highend, reasonably-priced, and locally-supported Satellite-based (VSAT) network infrastructures within the EMEA region and beyond. With an experienced workforce totalling over 40 years of field-proven competence in the provision of VSAT networks, Echelon understands the key requirements of the marketplace and offers costeffective solutions based on customer expectations, when traditional players rely on inflexible legacy pricing and pre-defined boxed product ranges. After 2 years of global involvement with the provision of Field Support Services to Government and nonGovernment institutions, and following a management restructure, Echelon went on to setup new operations in Iraq in 2009, to assist with the reconstruction efforts in the country, and support the local developments of multinational foreign companies, particularly in the Oil & Gas sector. With their local presence, and dedicated involved support infrastructures across the Middle East, and globally over the EMEA region, Echelon has developed at a rapid pace through the recent economic downturn, with an average turnover growth of around 250% year-on-year since its inception. Today, Echelon is present in 15 countries, with either local offices or local representations, and has become a household name for provision of Satellite-based Infrastructure services in Iraq, across the Middle East region and beyond. 1.2. Echelon operates two key PoPs in Europe, in London and Frankfurt, where the Echelon hubs and routers are located within world-leading Teleport facilities, therefore providing the highest levels of availability, reliability, professionalism and security. From these PoPs, Echelon delivers further backbone connectivity via IP Leased Circuits (IPLC) and/or E1 trunks to their customer premises, with the opportunity to provide popular Direct Dial Inward (DDI) number solutions and Voice over IP (VoIP) interconnections for specialised applications. As our network expands, so do our terrestrial interconnections within Europe and beyond, with new PoPs constantly in development on either side of the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea. 1.3. From its humble beginnings as a Field service provider to global ISPs, Echelons philosophy and approach has remained its focus on local support to customers and we have stuck by this approach through challenging times, confident that our local commitment and incessant drive towards the highest professional standards in unfriendly environments, are the core elements for the success of any global network, and even more particularly a Satellite-based (VSAT) network. As one of the only truly dedicated companies in the world to provide Field Support as a core capability, with Service Provision as an add-on offer, rather than the other way round, Echelon has developed priceless local experience, and is better equipped than most at designing innovative architectures that meet the customers needs, as well as provide on-the-ball support even at the smallest -seemingly, trivial- issues. Key ongoing projects

Echelon is heavily involved in supplying real-time, mission-critical infrastructures for multinational organisations wishing to extend their reach beyond the borders of urbanisation. 2.1. Oil & Gas Sector

Echelon provides real-time applications support in Iraq for Drilling Companies and International Oil Companies (IOCs). Particularly, we have setup a robust support organisation to assist these players across the Southern Oil Company (SOC) fields of Rumailah, West Qurna, Majnoon and Zubair. Our support organisation makes use of an embedded support philosophy, providing dedicated resources to the IOCs, supplemented as required by ad-hoc teams from our local Iraq offices. In addition to our Iraq activities, we provide Field support for on- and off-shore exploration across the Middle East and Central Asia within the local regulatory framework and based on the relevant QHSE certifications as required for operation is hazardous environments. Our key differentiator is the provision of demanding Service Level Agreements (SLAs) as standard, particularly with respect to network Availability and Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), in order to provide the best possible user experience, as well as provide additional support for Real-time Applications, Voice Termination, Network Layout, Routing and addressing, Local Radio Loops and other IT-related tasks. 2.2. Government / Non-Government Institutions

Echelon Satnet provides System Integration solutions for global worldwide networks. In particular, we have been involved in supplying global network solutions for European and Middle Eastern Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and installed over 100 embassy stations across the world to enable connectivity to Ministry servers back home and accelerate formalities for expatriates across the world. Additionally, Echelon has been responsible for deploying local VSAT solutions for NGOs in the Middle East and as far as South East Asia and even Oceania, providing a global reach of our Field Service Support capability and a truly worldwide coverage. 2.3. Others

Our GVF-certified installation and support teams have been on hand across the EMEA region to provide connectivity solutions for major ISPs seeking to extend their reach, but have equally participated in the support of Teleport installations for local and global Telecommunications providers (Telcos).
