DRUG INDICATIONS CONTRAINDICATIONS ADVERSE EFFECTS OF DRUG Dyspepsia, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, flatulence, constipation, gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcers. GI upset, diarrhoea, paraesthesia, vertigo, headache, dizziness, pruritus and rashes. Potentially Fatal: Bleeding disorders including GI and intracranial haemorrhage. Blood dyscrasias. Anticoagulant Anti platelets Fibrinolytics

Clopidogrel inhibits adenosine diphosphate (ADP) from binding to its receptor sites on the platelets and subsequent activation of glycoprotein GP IIb/IIIa complex thus preventing fibrinogen binding, platelet adhesion and aggregation.

Prophylaxis of thromboembolic disorders To reduce thrombotic events in patients with atherosclerosis documented by recent CVA, MI, or peripheral arterial disease. To reduce thrombotic events in patient with acute coronary syndrome

Hypersensitivity. Active pathological bleeding. admin within 7 days after MI and ischaemic stroke, coagulation disorders. Lactation.

Platelets aggregation wont return to normal for at least 5 days after drug has been stopped. Advise patient it may take longer than usual to stop bleeding. Tell to refrain from activities in which trauma and bleeding may occur. Instruct patient to notify prescriber if unusual bleeding or bruising occurs. Inform patient that drug may taken without regard to meals.
