General aim of the lesson:

To introduce to students new vocabulary about clothes and to help them develop their skills of using the new vocabulary in real situations through dialogues

Specific aims of the lesson: To introduce to students new vocabulary about clothes in exercise: 1/82, 2/82,4/83 To help the students to develop their skills of using the new vocabulary in real situations in exercise: 3/82, 5/83 To consolidate students new vocabulary by working in groups and creating their own outfit.

Teaching techniques: presentation and consolidation Practice techniques: group work, pair work, brainstorming, frontal teaching, role play Materials used: the course book SNAPSHOT STARTER. STUDENTS BOOK, LONGMAN SNAPSHOT STARTER, LANGUAGE BOOSTER, LONMAN CDS CD PLAYER WORKSHEETS COLOURS, PAPER, CLOTHES 1

1. Warmer up: the T will check if all the students are present and will ask them if they had done their homework. (2min) T: Hello! How are you today? How was your weekend? Did you do anything special? 2. Pre-presentation: the T will orally check the students homework. (ex. 9/80) (3min.) Where is Emily when she calls her mother? (She is in her room) What does Emily want to do on Friday evening? (she wants to go to a disco) What time is the last bus? (its at eleven thirty) 3. Presentation: (10 min) the T asks the students if they know what FASHION is, and if they are fashionable people or not. The T will write the title of the new lesson (WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO WEAR)on the blackboard and the students will copy the title in their notebooks The T will do a brainstorming exercise on the blackboard, and the students task will be to name as many pieces of clothing they know. The T will write them on the blackboard and the students into their notebooks.

The T will ask the students to open their books at page 82 exercise 1. first the T will ask the students in turns to read all the new vocabulary about clothes and colors. If there is a word that was not mentioned in the brainstorming, it will be noted down while reading the list of new words.

The students will listen to a fashion commentary, and their task will be to identify the models, clothes and the colours. After listening twice the cd, with the whole class, the exercise will be checked: Picture 1: is Cameron: he is wearing black jeans, a white t-shirt... 4. Practice activities: Then, the students will open the books at page 124, and after listening to the cd twice, they will repeat the sound-bite exercise. (3min) The students will look at exercise 3/82. Orally in pairs they will look at the model given in the book and they will have to make similar dialogues. They will have to ask each other to describe what they are wearing that day. (2min) With the class divided in groups of five students, the pupils will be given a worksheet from the Snapshot language booster, they will have to complete the word puzzle, then to list the words under the correct headings, and to write what each person was dressed with. (10 min). All the exercises will be orally checked with the whole class. The students will get a white sheet of paper on which they will have to make a model, write 10 sentences describing their model. Then each group will choose a presenter and a model. When all groups have finished, each model and presenter will present their design in front of the class. The jury will be the assistant teachers, who will decide the best outfit. (15 min. ) 5. Feedback: as homework the students will receive a worksheet, on which they will have to choose from the given clothes what they would wear at a party. Then they will express these ideas in writing according to the given model .
