Friday, January 30th Thinking Hat Day-

To get us into the spirit of Iowa Tests of Basic Skills participation, D-G Elementary will
have their annual Thinking Hat Day for students and teachers Friday, January 30th, 2009.
All students may make their own hat or decorate one from home. It should be a “special”
hat since it’s a thinking hat.

Friday, January 30th-100th Day of School!

The Iowa Tests of Basic Skills will be taken by students in grades 2-8 Monday thru
Friday, February 2-13.

Revenue Purpose Statement Election-February 3rd

Jump Rope for Heart-February 4-16

D-G Students will be receiving a packet for donations for the American Heart
Association on February 4th. They will have the opportunity to jump rope in PE class to
help accumulate minutes for donations.

Clarification on Make-Up Days

Because of our cancellations on 12/9/08, 12/19/08, 1/14/09 and 1/15/09 we need to make
the following adjustment to our calendar:
The last day of school (barring additional snow days) has been moved from the
originally-planned Tuesday, May 26th to Friday, May 29th. May 26, 27, and 28 will be
full days of school. On May 29th there will be an 11:10 dismissal. These adjustments
will make up for our first three cancelled days. In addition, we will now have school on
Tuesday, April 14-this originally was scheduled as part of our Spring Break.

Valentines Day Treat

Student Council will be selling strawberry swirl ice cream cups for fifty cents to be
served on February 13th. Students may bring their money to the office beforehand to
purchase an ice cream cup.

Kindergarten Maturity Clinic-April 28th thru April 30th.
The D-G Elementary Maturity Clinic will be held on Tuesday, April 28th thru April 30th.
There will be no school for our regular kindergarten during the week of April 27th thru
May 1.
Parents who have a child who will be five years old before September 15th, 2009, please
call the office (476-7110) if your child’s name is not listed below or if you have any
questions.
Birth Certificates should be brought in for recording before the clinic.
