MANAGER CONSERVATION SINDH

GENERAL REQUIRE MENTS A well-proven personal commitment to nature conservation; All staff should have an aptitude for team work; a willingness to work in harsh conditions and physical fitness to work for extended periods in a challenging physical and social environment, All staff must have good report-writing skills (in English) and excellent computer literacy. Working knowledge of Sindhi language preferred Maximum age limit 40 years 1. 2. SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS Proven problem-solving skills and results orientation; Good English language reading, writing and speaking skills; Demonstrated interpersonal communication and advocacy skills; Sensitivity to gender and other current social issues in countries such as Pakistan; A vibrant and amicable personality; QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE Minimum qualifications equivalent to a masters in Natural Sciences; Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience ; 3. Working Knowledge: Excellent understanding and knowledge of participatory NRM practices; Experience in project/programme management established through relevant work experience; Experience in working with communities on natural resource related issues established through relevant work experience; Expertise in developing log frames, work plans, monitoring frameworks established through relevant work experience;

Familiarity with eco-region/ landscape level conservation work; Experience in fund-raising for projects and programmes Knowledge about the dynamics associated with forests, wetlands and coastal ecosystems in Pakistan; Knowledge of subject matter from forestry, wetland ecology, and fisheries will be considered an advantage GENERAL RESPONSIBILITY: The position is responsible to develop, implement and sustain small to medium size projects and related activities of WWF-PAKISTAN in Sindh. The position will ensure compliance with the technical & financial conditions of the said projects and facilitate / execute the related monitoring plans. He / She will build partnerships with relevant stake holders and guarantee sustained conservation work in Sindh by securing continued funding. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES: TECHNICAL: Prepare technical, progress and monitoring reports and ensure their timely submission to project administration Department and donors. Interact closely with regional staff and provide supervision on project, planning, implementation, and monitoring in consultation with the Project Manager. Develop draft project proposals in collaboration with program development for areas under his/her supervision as outlined in the strategic document for the Sindh province and seek funding for the same; Monitor compliance with the contractual terms both for financial and technical conditions of projects implemented in the region. Respond to various queries from the Network, Head Office, Regional office staff, consultants, NGOs and other line departments referring the technical issues to appropriate persons where necessary; Facilitate communities for conservation, advocacy and livelihood. Develop linkages between local communities and NGOs/GOs to address social and developmental issues. Supervise and appraise staff and field activities. Develop promotional materials, give public presentations and media interviews as and when needed; Facilitate related Scientific Committee projects in the region; Perform any other task assigned by the Director Sindh.

FINANCIAL & ADMINISTRATIVE:

Provide administrative support to the projects in Sindh under his/her supervision; Manage Wetland Center at Sandspit. Ensure timely preparation and submission of monthly financial data/reports as per organizational and donors requirements. Verify and endorse project expenditures in the field as approved in the annual project budget by the competent authority ; Ensure the proper implementation of financial and administrative guidelines issued from time to time; Guarantee compliance with the financial terms & conditions of the projects under his / her supervision. Facilitate Finance and Administration Division in conducting internal and external audits; Sanction leaves to all staff under his or her supervision under intimation to Administration Department as per laid down procedure. Operate related bank account(s) of WWF-Pakistan as cosignatory as and when required;
